Even though I would love to play this tourny....especially since it is pratically in my back yard...I won't be able to.
The timing belt broke in my car and it is taking all of my money that was going to be used to live off of in August to pay for it to get fixed, and I don't get paid until 2 days after the tourny is over.
:( And I was really wanting to play this

85 past archdale...get on N/S main st and then on 29N to 311N to J street exit. Take a right and it is about 1 mile to the course entrance on right.
To get to Festival park, use the same directions as above but get off onto EastChester(68N) instead of J Street. Take a right and the park will be on the left about a mile/1.5 miles.

Aug 14 2006, 10:12 AM
anyone know the best way to johnson street from charlotte?
The best way to get there is to get off I-85N onto Business I-85 - Exit #87. That exit is Rt 52 to Winston-Salem and it is Hwy 70/29 (all 3 combined). 52 splits off so stay on 70/29 towards High Point. Then Head N on 311 Bypass (a highway). That takes you right there.
Go to Google maps. You can see Johnson St Park & Festival Park very clearly right off 311 Bypass.
FYI, it takes forever to drive through the center of High Point and it is confusing going the way Plankeye suggested.

Thanks All! 44 years old :( Before long, I wont even be able to throw my age in yards! David and I are looking forward to another great OHO and seeing lots of good friends. See ya there!
As for directions, thanks Plankeye! another way to do it would be to take the 85 Business spur off I85 at the town of Lexington. Follow Business 85 all the way through Thomasville then past Main Street in High Point until the exit for 311 North (this is a highway it is NOT business 311 which is Main Street). Take 311 north to Johnson Street exit. Turn right off the exit and the park is about a half mile on the right.
To get to Festival Park from Charlotte, take the same route to 311 North, but exit on the Eastchester exit which is one exit prior to the Johnson Street exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp and festival park is a short ways down on the left (under 2 miles for sure perhaps much less) If you see a dam on the left you just passed it.
From the Raleigh direction, take I40 to I85, then the Business 85 spur to High Point. Take 311 north off Business 85 and once on 311 North, follow directions as above.
From the Winston-Salem direction, take I40 East to 311 south to the Johnson street exit (one exit past North Main Street exit). Turn left at end of Ramp and park is 1/2 mile on right. To get to Festival Park, proceed one more exit south to Eastchester. Turn left at end of ramp, and Festival Park is a short ways up on the left. Again, if you see a dam, you just passed it.
From Johnson Street to Festival park and vica versa, just reverse the directions to get back to 311 (I know you can do it!) and proceed one exit in the necessary direction. (north to get to Johnson Street and south to get to Eastchester from Johnson) Remember that when going to Festival from Johnson to turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Eastchester, not right as you would do if coming north from the Charlotte direction.

Thanks Chris, and BTW, note to everyone. When you see Dave Gilstrap, realize that he is the one who pulls the whole disc golf scene in High Point together. Without him, there would be little or no organized disc golf in this area. Tell him thanks, 'cause he is getting almost as old as I used to be some time ago, and I'm not sure how much longer he can keep up the pace. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

so will this tournament be 180 again or just 90?
Same layout at Festival?
Same temp baskets at Festival?
What tees at Johnson Street?
tatersak
Aug 15 2006, 09:58 PM
MTl and others 180 players (144- 4 somes would be ideal), but get your registrations end to ease our pains. 2 courses is alot of work anyways. not exact same course, some holes may be lengthened and some may be new. but yes we are using the same lightning db baskets. dave will be back later tonight or tommorrow from visiting family. he will post tees for all divisions later this week. bring a water disc, i'm thinking there will not be a protective shell around #2 this time
I think this needs to be on the front page!

sorry for the delayed post, ive been under doctors care for the last few days and havent felt like anything but laying around. Several club members went and scouted possible holes for addition to the course set-up from last year. It MAY play almost the same while lenghtening a couple of holes or we may have a couple new ones? Super Dave will decide after some more thought and measuring this week. Plan on most of the holes playing the same though, and there is no safety shell on hole 2 this time. cant wait til saturday, need a speedy recovery or ill finish dfl, if i even play. cant wait to see some fiends i havent seen in a while.

Andrew lost his champion I-dye Leopard on hole #2 at Johnson St. from the blue tee. It's orange, green and black. Almost a yen-yang pattern. It went 1/4 to 1/2 way down #2 and turned over too soon. Was heading between The #1 white Tee and #1 Blue tee. It may be up in a tree. He loves this disk. He also Aced Hole #1 at Johnson St with it. So it's Real important that he gets it back. Thanks in advance.

At the present time we are throwing out lots of ideas. I talked to Tatersak to inquire if it would be Ok at Johnson St. The Oak Hollow Guys have always be supportive of us Archdale Guys And CedarLake course. We are still hoping something will work out at Creek Side maybe a different Date. This could turn into the first fund raiser for the proposed Creek Side Disc Golf Course. The final decision is up to Ben Millikan The Club President. Im the PR Guy. But The support and encouragement from OHDGC and The Disc Golf Community has been outstanding. Thank you everyone for your Support.
