I'm sure they will. The $250.00 I mentioned is to be for the Distance comp only.Added cash to the tourney(We Hope) should be at least a couple, maybe a few G.If we don't make top 50 in payout this year i'll be suprised.(Decent goal anyway)Sat up the CFR's today.Look for Star Wraiths' to be in this showcase.(Red with this wicked little demon on it.)Some think it's a little too evil.Oh well,Everyone is entitled to an opinion.I think it'll sell quick.Check out wafda.org this weekend.Should be able to see it.LATER!!! :D

Yes! Yes! This does resemble the Anti Tree Demon. You should buy 5 for better results .One to throw(Since you'll probably NEVER loose it)And 4 more to rub off on the discs in your bag. :DCFR's,Can't go wrong with that.

To be a "B" Tier there HAS to be added cash.

At least $250 to make B-Tier standards.

CB2
Aug 15 2006, 12:29 AM
I thought it had to be at least $1000 added cash to make it a B-tier.

Birdie
Aug 15 2006, 12:51 AM
Nope. It is $250.

I though for awhile that it was 1000, but I looked at the B-Tier tourney stuff, and it says clear as day that is 250.

That is a little easier than 1000. ;)

But it's not keeping me from trying. :D

chrispfrisbee
Aug 15 2006, 01:38 AM
You're probably getting it confused with the standard of $1000 minimum added cash for an A Tier Supertour.

I thought LaMastus told us we had to have $1,000 to make HOTB an official B.Might wanna check this out.Last year we had more than $250 added and I think they de classified it because it wasn't fat enough.I'm curious.

2005 HOTB is still listed as a B tier, sadly Arkansas is considered a "smaller state/province"(smaller requirements by the PDGA) which means not enough DG action, but we are changing that :D

2005 results - 9 pros - $715 payout ($450+$265 added cash)
41 ams - $757 cash equivalent payout

We fully intend to make this year even better!!

I don't mean to be drifting ya'll away from the Stillwater Classic

I think complimentary words for my favorite Aggie are long overdue.

Good job, Treat. I've been watching you push this tourney on the board for weeks and can't think of a time I've seen someone advertise for an event as well as you have. It appears your hard work is paying off, you're generating a LOT of interest in Stillwater's greatest show.

I can assure you, it was not my intent to criticize anyone, especially Jose, whose contributions to disc golf have never been questioned. Instead, it was to congratulate Andrew on a great job.

My apologies to any who may have gotten the wrong impression from my poorly worded statement.

I am meeting with the Bowling place in town today, or tomorrow. I have had much more on my mind with school starting. However, I did just lock down another $300 in sponsor money!

This year? This is a dynasty! This this is going to grow and grow, andI would like to upgrade to an A-Tier my senior year.

I am also planning other events to boost up the Classic, and to help me make Stillwater Golf better.

I have a few long term goals I am thinking about...:

1)Tee Pads at Hoyt Grove.

2)Bigger Pads at Boomer.

3)New tee-signs for both courses.

4)And if I am really lucky I will get Rotan to help me get baskets installed at one of the many courses in town.

Just spitballing though..... :D

Melissa
Aug 22 2006, 10:48 PM
Well, I noticed the other day that at Hoyt Grove there are several tee signs already in place! Good job SW, Treat and Tommy T!!!

Can't wait til the Classic. We need LOTS OF WOMEN!!! There will be several divisions, so bring your ladies, girlfriends, wives, and friends out for the Stillwater Classic! Treat will for sure "treat the ladies!" So far, there will be at least two women's divisions....I will be playing Advanced, or if there are no others, I will likely play Intermediate Men. Carla Bocox (soon to be TOWNSEND!) will be playing either Intermediate or Rec Women. SO BRING YOUR WOMEN!!! There will be many options for them...even beginners!!!

Aug 22 2006, 11:27 PM

Andrew - Is Hoyt now permanent? I saw the baskets when I ate at Bill's Catfish, but I wasn't sure if it was a whole 18. Also, you might want to talk to Bill's about maybe a small sponsorship. Since they are next to Hoyt Grove and have awesome food, I would imagine some players would like it.

Birdie

I am going to talk to them. I haven't eaten there, not a big fish fan, but it looks good.

Yes I can get into the Dragons Lair, though I never have. You get a better show walking to class! :D

And yes this tournament will be a good one. I am trying my best. If added cash equals tournament quality, then I am in good shape.

Please everyone, contact your local pros and make sure that they know about this even. We are talking big Pro Purse!

Hope to see you all soon....

Our "Host Hotel", AKA $50 sponsor, has "group rates" for around $81 bucks a night. I blocked 25 rooms at this rate, then I got home and saw that it was $81 and cancelled them. The Stillwater Convention and Visitors Bureau has sent out a bid to all local hotels looking for a rate somewhere in the ballpark range of $50. The CVB didn't think that things would look to good for finding a rate that low. Stillwater is just higher priced than some places.

I'm trying. :D

If you stay at the Sigma Chi house, you will get a hair pie, but it will have a weiner.......

Try these Kappa, Chi-o, Zeta, Alpha Chi, Phi Mu, Tri-delt, AD Pi, Theta, KD, Gamma-Phi, or Pi Phi. You will enjoy that experience much better.

I haven't tried all.
Zeta, Alpha Chi, Phi Mu, Tri-Delt, and KD gave me a frequent diners and do'ers card.- I ate here so many times I lost count, and I don't remember many names :D

Kappa, Chi-o, Gamma Phi, and Pi Phi - Nice but not my personal favorites.

Being the college town that it is, even though it is a non-game weekend. They don't have or choose not to have any of the deals you can get around OKC or Tulsa. The nice thing is that, it isn't far from either OKC or Tulsa if you were to drive to and from.

Whatever you do never ever stay at the Circle D. They are crooks. After graduating from Stillwater I was going up for a weekend of partying and what not. I decided to stay at the Circle D becuase the rates were very cheap. I checked into my room dropped off my suitcase and went to dinner. When I came back my room had a boot on the door so I could not get in. So, I went to the front desk and asked what is going on and they told me I stole their sheets. I said no way - we argued and then they took me to the room where the bed was stlll made and I had not even touched it and guess what - there were no sheets. This was wrong in so many ways but I was 22 and did not really know how to stand up for myself at the time and was ready to just get out of there. Circle D are crooks and it is a nasty place anyway.

I now stay at the Best Western.

Isn't there like a "Student Union" hotel on campus?

OSU has a Hotel and Restaurant management major and the student union hotel is staffed by students in that degree program the last time i was there it was a reasonable place to get the basic room shower and bed. no frills but nice and clean.

Why thank you Travis. That means a lot. But don't worry, I have already got all the help I need (I replaced you with Greg :o). But seriously, the tournament is looking good. I have run into some trouble with getting my custom stamped discs. But there will be a stamped disc in the players pack. You have about a 1000% better chance of getting a custom stamped disc if you sign up on titledisc.com.

But all is well, I have more sponsor money coming in everyday, I have well beyond my original added cash goal, and I hope to double it!

So lock up your daughter, lock up your wife, and since Furdog is coming you might want to lock up that livestock as well.....Cause it's Stillwater Classic time!

All right now sportsfans!

Who is ready for some disc golf?

I hope everyone is practicing their "A" game...because I have insider information that Hicks and Jose are looking to win the Classic....

I saw Jose park hole five at Boomer with a BIG backhand roller...maybe a 15 ft. tap in, and for Jose thats not what you would call a "tough putt". :D

Ny phone has been ringing off the hook, and I am expecting a big group of golfers to come out and show their support for the often forgotten Stillwater Disc Golf Club.

Come play this SANCTIONED EVENT! The points race is still on despite the fact that we can't host Worlds every year.

Come on down to Stillwater and support this event, and do some great golfing while you do it. Holiday Inn has rates at or around $60.00. The courses look great.

Hoyt has all 18 tee-signs in the ground as of today. So come out and see what you got at Boomer and Hoyt!

This is my tentative schedule for the Classic.

Friday:
Draw Doubles: STARTS AT 6:00!

Saturday:
Registration: 6:00 a.m to 8:00 a.m.
Players Meeting: 8:30 (For all players and divisions, held at Boomer Lake Park)

Round One:
Pool A: 9:00 Boomer
Pool B: 9:15 Hoyt

Round Two:

Playin' it by ear.

Sign up early at Doubles Friday night at the "Okie Dubs Grudge Match" if you weren't happy with your dubs play in OKC, then come try again at Boomer on Friday night!

Hoyt is at 12th and Perkins road.

To add to this
1. Turn east on 12th street
2. Go about 1/2 mile, which is just past the city pool but not quite to where the road splits to go straight or right
3. On the left, there's a gravel parking lot.
4. Walk across the creek to the ball field.

It's also called Kameoka Trails after Stillwater's sister city

It's finally here. There has been a lot of people spending a lot of time to get this tournament where it needs to be, and it is going to be well worth it. So in the words of Big Dave . . . . come GET SOME!!!

I would like to thank Greg Huston and Ehren Hutsell for their help in the last few weeks. It is much appreciated and Hoyt Grove is coming along nicely. They are even skipping The Classic in their home town to help assist with the tournament.

And a BIG THANK YOU to the TDSA and Twisted Flyer. Your help has been invaluable with advice, sponsorship, and tournament equipment. Thanks to everyone who has taken time to help us get this tournament to where it should be.

You can play JR's anytime during the day and some evenings the course is lit up ( have to ask Joe on that ). We played it last week and the course still looks amazing.

I think they open around 10am on weekdays

I think in a few quotes above Jose Mendoza did.
In relisting the scores he called the -12 a course record.
I thought I heard Ron Convers record was -11.
Thanks You to all the Sponsors and Staff.
Thanks again Andrew for taking on the tournament.
Glad I came to play it was well run.
Looking forward to next year.

Ron Convers shot a 43 in 2004 in the last round to pass several good players to get to second place.

In 2003 Danny Stacey shot a 44 after having a birdie putt on 18 for the -12 but 3 putted to a -10.

As far as I know, -12 is the course record. Amazing - CONGRATS Coda!

Also, I thought Kevin was very gracious in second place and showed me a lot by congratulating Coda on his fine play. I am proud to be able to say both Kevin and Coda are Okies and so am I.

The event was ran very well. Treat you did a great job of running your first event and one of the best things you did was get yourself a "Cracker Jack" staff. Looking forward to next year.

Ron Convers shot a final round 43 two years ago (2004) at the Stillwater Classic. In 2003 Daniel Stacey shot a 44.

No kidding...GREAT ROUND!!...and nice prediction Cam.
I also want to thank all the Stillwater crew for running a great tournament. Everything ran really smooth. Also a big thanks to Joe Rotan and Twisted Flyer for helping out this weekend and for donating all those discs for Coda to throw across the lake...that was fun to watch Coda BOMB a frikin monster over the lake and over all of our heads...probably close to 600ft!! A MONSTER!!???!! Thanks to Eskimo Joes for the party also. And last but certainly not least, thanks to Tommy T and Carla for putting us up for the weekend, I had a great time and can't wait until next year.

Props to the SW crew for making this years Classic a great event...40% chance of rain my arse!

I can see Andrew running some fabulous events in the future. Look at the team of CO-TD's he had with him, what a way to get your feet wet.

I predicted that Guy Bouyan was going to be the winner of most fun but he came up short, that dude is a freaking riot on the course!! But it actually makes sense that he did not get it because he is from Austin Texas and we all know who hails from that part of the country :D

I think you are right. I doubt, though Billy Leonard is becoming a good player, that he shot two 1000+ rated rounds.

And Guy was a crazy son of a gun. And it was a bunch of fun playing with him. I wish he wasn't complaining about the baskets so much; everyone has the same disadvantage. I told him that without public funding, its hard to get new baskets without a tournament, and its hard to get a huge tournament without new baskets. Overall I couldn't have asked to play with a greater "Guy."

Treat did an amazing job! I had a great time!

Yes the floppy was good. And while I have you here...

Thank you Martin Norris. I have known this guy forever, since boy scouts, and he gave me the serious hook up this weekend by handling the scores.

Mucho Thanks Martin!
