Foot fault?

Not a footfault.

803.02 Teeing Off
A. Play shall begin on each hole with the player throwing from within the teeing area. When the disc is released, at least one of the players supporting points must be in contact with the surface of the teeing area, and all the players supporting points must be within the teeing area. If a tee pad is provided, all supporting points must be on the pad at the time of release, unless the director has specified a modified teeing area for safety reasons.

All his supporting points are in the teeing area. If there was not the elevated teepad and his foot was touching ground off of the concrete, then it would be a footfault.

I always wonder why many players feel like they need to use every inch and then some of the tee pad. Why not plant 1-2' from the front. Are they scared they will miss their putt if they are 1 foot further from the basket. A twisted/broken ankle is a bigger problem they risk with coming so close to going over the edge with a slight mis-step.

Somebody ask Ted Mack about stepping off the tee pad. Knees have a breaking point. I try to stay at least a foot or two back after seeing THAT ;)

As long as your contact point is on the tee pad when you release your disc it is all good. My follow through takes me me a few feet past the teepad after I throw but it is still legal.

I was referring more to stepping off the tee to a lower area and popping a knee out. These days I worry less about foot faulting, more about copay ;)

This however, does look like a footfault although the replay officials said that, because of the camera angle, there is not indisputable visual evidence to overturn the play. ;)

I would like to say that I called the Ken Climo win. At Am Worlds Flymart there was in Innova Booth where you got a free shirt for filling out a survey...and at asked who you thought would win Pro Worlds...Sorry Kevin, but I called the Champ. :D
