What courses will be used this year?

nicholson5150
Aug 04 2006, 01:37 PM
I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure we're gonna play Blackhawk at least...if not Redhawk also. My vote is McClure, Dovillio, Haikey, Blackhawk.

The only thing with that is if it rains it will be real sloppy at Blackhawk. The weather around that time is a little wacky sometimes.

My vote goes for McClure, Dovilio, RedHawk, BlackHawk for Pro/Adv. Works out great between distance and technical courses and minimal driving between courses.

nicholson5150
Aug 04 2006, 06:31 PM
I like that set up too, but like Thong said, the weather does get a little unpredictable that time of year, and Redhawk is nearly unplayable after any rain. In my opinion, Blackhawk handles rain pretty well other than in a few areas, but all courses are like that.

Just my 2 cent

Point taken, you could have those 4 courses contingent on good weather. The backup plan could be McClure/Dovilio saturday then Haikey/Hunter Sunday. Just my 2 cents.

I think Redhawk and Blackhawk are now among the area's elite courses and definately should be showcased a OO. Those courses seem to seperate the men from the boys. I see alot of lead changes and players moving around after playing that combo of courses.

For what it's worth, I'll be there no matter what.

Agreed. Was just thinking since it will be fall I think it will be muddier then heck with out the foliage if it rained around that time.

I think that Mohawk will be in the plans but the club will reserve the right to announce the courses to be used about a week before the tournamnet. This way we can try to be prepared for any adverse weather.

Seeing as I missed Am Worlds, I'd like to play Dovillio with those new concrete tees! Besides, a day of McClure and Dovillio makes 'proximity' sense...

Redhawk = 2 hours , 50 minutes ( ? )

BlackHawk = 3 hours ( ? )

WhiteHawk = 2 hours , 40 minutes ( ? )

4somes:

BlackHawk: 3 hours at BlackHawk is the norm for a full course. The weeekend before worlds we had about 40 people at the BlackHawk mini. The course was not full, but we finished Blackhawk (with 4somes) in just over 2 hours. Again, that is not a full course.

RedHawk: Much quicker than Black, at Thursday minis it is common for a round to be completed before 2 hours. But with a full course of players I would estimate 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete a round.

Ok movers and shakers it's time to start rallying stuff for the Oklahoma Open. This year we are offering hole sponsorships at $50 each, if you want more than 2 contact me via PM and we can work on getting you a deal.

There will be a Fly Mart on Saturday evening for those wishing to vend. Tables can be rented for $25 and must be reserved with direct contact to me via email twisted1@twistedflyer.com or PM here.

Let's follow AM World's with another awesome TDSA event... Your support will make it happen!

I would change the color of the words...parts of it seem to blend in with the background. This is purely from a marketing point of view. As ultimately you are trying to spread the word about the OK Open...therefore you should be able to see the words from across the room.

.
... " As a matter of fact, Kevin McCoy is filming and producing a DVD of the upcoming Oklahoma Open Event.
Footage of Players and Courses will be compiled en masse. The Tournament itself will play Saturday and Sunday (Oct.28 & 29). He is asking for any and all help he can acquire for this. Additional filming and photos of Players practicing the week before, Doubles-teams on that Friday, Players relaxing between rounds, etc. are all examples of what would be needed. Kevin has a need for 6 to 8 cameras -and- camera-operators to achieve this.
Please contact Kevin McCoy to help: (918) 740-9846 e-mail ninafofitre@yahoo.com "

Red and Black Hawk on sat that is if it hasn't rained 6 inches the week before, which is possible that time of year.
Dovillillillilliiiioooo and McClure on sunday that is if Dovillio's grass isnt waistdeep by then.

I was going to pre-reg tonight but my wife's car broke down yesterday...Wagle's Dad is installing a new fuel pump as I type this.

Fuel Pump - $299

Labor - $150

Total w/ tax = $482.38

OO prereg will have to wait, hopefully it won't fill up :o

Hasselhoff Launches Clothing Line...
If you cant get enough of David Hasselhoff you are in luck. David has launched his own clothing line after coming to the realization hes as popular as Elvis. Hasselhoff insists hes constantly hounded by fans, who even sport signature T-shirt Dont Hassel The Hoff. Now he wants to cash in on the fashion trend with his own surfing line under the label Malibu Dave. He says, Its just going to be super cool, laid back surfing gear. Everywhere I go, there are all these guys, like 400 guys, wearing the Dont Hassel The Hoff shirt. There are guys who turn up dressed like me. Its a bit weird. Im like Elvis, only alive.

Great idea WF. Never thought of it that way, spraying sealer I mean. I still love the idea of spray painting one of the metal pieces to tell you what course and direction you were heading on to on the next hole. Definitely like Black and Red, see you in 3 I think weeks. :D

I will take care of the clear sealer. It's pretty nice being a

Yea Big Dave it wasn't pretty. Wise brought his wife and horse out and the horse pee'd and crapped all over the course. I guess he needed us to be distracted. I bet 5 on Reiger to win but he stumbled at the finish line. At least twice Wise threw into the water but somehow his disc managed to magically jump back up on the bank. :confused:.....Dave did manage to string together some nice shots at the end though so I got to give him credit for the win. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif....As for myself, I showed some promise on a few holes but I ultimately reverted back to my short arming lumberjack ways in the end. :(

Still it was fun playing, and watching Wise grab the horse's butt and shovel horse crap at the end was worth the minor loss of funds. :D

... IF Players are not "current-year" PDGA members , they cannot enter and compete in an A-Tier ...
... only B-Tier and below entrants can pay the $5 "weekend-fee" ...
... here's some input below from the PDGA Office that will help define your time-lines ...
.
.
.
.
... " So heres how it worksto answer your question: yesand no

The PDGA membership year runs concurrent to the PDGA Tour which is January to December. For first time members OR for those who have not been current for 5 years, if they join/renew after September 1st they will get a jump on 2007 AND the rest of 2006 for free.

Because there are still several A tier events around the country yet to be played in 2006 anyone else renewing now will be renewing for 2006 and will be asked to re-up in December for 2007 (unless they fit the category describe above). They will receive all points and ratings earned having played in PDGA sanctioned events since January 1, 2006 plus issues missed of Disc Golf World magazine (as long as they are still in stock.)

Let me put it another way, if someone not current in 2006 wants to play in a Super Tour event this month or next then they must renew for 2006 and will be asked to renew for 2007. If someone wants to play in a B or C tier event this month or next and dont want points or ratings they may have earned earlier in the year assigned to their number, then they would be best to pay the $5 fee and wait to renew in late November after the last A tier of the year or December for 2007. "
