Can't wait to see this piece of land Shaine. If the Twisted Flyer Open moves to Tulsa, I may make this one instead.

I did see the flyer up at McKinney so I am sure the turnout will be great for this.

Just got word from Zone Driven that they are going to sponsor some cool CTP and raffle items as well. Chris Himing has also donated some cool full color discs for giveaways. In addition, I have an '03 Candy USDGC roc to giveaway as well as an unthrown CE Firebird. This is shaping up to be a great event. Hope to see lots of familiar and new faces.

I was able to get out and do some mowing and tree trimming this past weekend. Mowed fairways for all of the holes and hit the greens with a nice low cut. The course is really shaping up to look great. We got out on Monday and played the course and it will provide everyone with a really nice challenge. Hope the weather is nice for the 30th!!

Everyone that is interested will have the opportunity to come out and play the course that day. We will have registration for the event on the 30th on site and we hope to see you all there.

Also, thanks to a generous donor the ace pot for this event will now start at $200 instead of $100. PM me with any additional questions.

Giles,

We are going to have at least 4 holes with roped off fairways. Will we have two holes with mandatory islands and a hole with a fence guarding the green. Hole 17 will have an island in front of the green that will be out of bounds and the pond that sits in the middle of holes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will be out of bounds. The course is set to play to the strength of executing good shots. I shot even in the rain a few weeks ago and that was after shooting -5 on the front 9. I ran out of gas on the back nine.

I will provide everyone with a caddie book out lining each hole. Are you planning on coming out this Saturday for the sneak peak?

That would be awesome, but I would probably go insne with that many people. I do not know how you do it man. Maybe one day this event will reach that magnitude, but not yet.

Will you have those buckets pulled by tomorrow. I would like to pick them up when I go to get Adam's if possible. Let me know. Thanks!!

Yea, I am going to pick them up tomorrow afternoon. I have an appointment in the morning. The other three are in my truck right now.

Did you get some sort of stands for them??? I asked Dirk Snow to find them and have not heard back from him yet. I could make some phone calls this week and track them down if needed.

That would be perfect. I will just leave the baskets in the back of my truck.

I might show up and help out, if not play on the 30th. Depends on what my wife says :o

4 weekends in a row of disc golf is pushing it. I might have my kid in tow.

Bryan,

That would be perfect!! The more the better. I am hoping to offer a JR division. Does your kiddo play DG? I do have one question for you. I am confused on the payout % breakdowns. Is there a downloadable chart somewhere that will line that out for me?

Pizza God
Sep 19 2006, 08:34 PM
You could use the PDGA chart, located in the TD area of this web site, or email Gary Duke and he has a tournament scoring program that can do it for you. If you can have a computer at the course, this is the best way to do it.

Shane, will the course be open for a casual round on the 30th (like durring lunch) Is there a greens fee. I may not be able to play the tournament, but I would like to show up and play a round that day.

Sep 24 2006, 07:23 PM

talk of 10s and 12s

saw it, but didnt get to play.

if i cant play the event, i want to play a lunch round that day.

but i hope to play

Shaine
Sep 25 2006, 01:24 PM
Thanks to all that made it out this weekend. Yes, I will allow some casual play that morning before the event and then again at lunch. There will not be a green fee.

As far as the 12 and 10 those were both on the island holes. I plan on opening those up a little more. a 25ft ring around the basket is just too small. I took an 8 myself on 16 and that was after missing twice from the drop zone.

I got lots of great feedback and everyone seemed to really enjoy the day. Sunny and 79 on Saturday, so this weekend will be great as well. Hope to see you all there.

So should we plan on brining some extra discs for those holes? Water???

Shaine
Sep 25 2006, 01:36 PM
No, the islands are made of irrigation fencing. They all both on land. The pond is a 2 acre tank and it is bone try, but we will play in as if it were full. I will put up an ob line around the base of the pond.

Shaine
Sep 27 2006, 02:53 PM
I have about 15 signed up right now. I am expecting between 40 and 75 for the event. There have been several that are signing up Friday at Doubles and then I know most will register the day of as usual.

TeamUDGP
Sep 28 2006, 10:38 AM
Are doubles going to be $15 a team or person

Shaine
Sep 28 2006, 01:27 PM
Doubles is $10 per perosn for AM's and $15 per person for pros. We will open up about 12pm Friday and doubles will have a flex start between 3pm - 6pm. If you want to play the course before that to get familiar with it that is cool too. No green fees.

I agree with TeamUDGP. Shaine did a great job putting this together. Lunch provided, plenty of cold water and soft drinks, nice payout, $300 ace pot, fossil watches for CTP's, ring of fire and a raffle. Too bad the turn out wasn't quite what was expected. Other than a couple of comments about holes 9, 10 and 16, the players had great things to say about the course. Good shots were rewarded, bad shots resulted in a throw from the drop zone

I would mention who won some of the divisions, but i didn't know many of the players. Rob Dawson had the hot round from the shorts (-6), Ron Silliman (-5) from the longs.

Hopefully, Shaine will have this event again next year.

Wow! What a great day!! I am exhausted, but I have never had so much fun running and playing in an event in all my life. We only had 29, but it was perfect. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the weather was great.

My favorite two stories of the weekend are as follows:

1st, on Friday afternoon I got a call from a player who was interested in playing, but was financially unable to do so. In the spirit of the church and what we were doing several guys pulled together and covered his entry fee. About 10 minutes before the event started someone came up and covered his ace pot entry. No one hit the $400 ace pot during the tournament so we threw off for it after the event. We paid out $200 for 1st, $125 for 2nd and $75 for third. The player, who played rec, stepped up and parked it about 3ft from the pin. He ended up taking $125 home that day. He expressed to me after the event that it could not have happened at a better time. i told him God provide for those in need and he did Saturday afternoon!!

2nd, after the event we had only tallied $208 for the charity, which was great, but was $292 short of our goal. After the awards we had a throw off and drawing for 2 baskets and some cool collectors discs. We ended up raising exactly $500 for the event. How cool is that.

I will post scores tomorrow. I do not have internet access at home, so I have to do it from work.
