We have ran about 200 prototype double beaded Screams.
Any reports from those who picked one up at am worlds?
WOW is all I can say after 3 trips to the field.
Even the 150 class was easy to control.
The domeier versions seem to never fall out of the air!!!
It may be the fastest most controllable disc over the widest range of speeds.
I would say Illusion speed with Sabre control and glide, a VERY nice combination and it doesnt take a big arm to get it going. It works really well for staright shots low to the ground without ramping up the velocity like the Spirit and Illusion.
The 1st bead gives it the resistance to turn with the 2nd bead and lowest edge giving it enough drag to penetrate forward (nose being pulled down a bit on deceleration, like a mid-range or putter) wich keeps it from falling off left at the end.
Another true innovation for a golf discs By Gateway-Quest.:cool::cool::cool:
Look for lots more double beaded discs along withe the dimple patterns and overmolded technology.

Justin had one of these though flat that he showed me. Told me it flew like a beat in spirit but didnt have much glide to it.

Me too. I keep reading about the scream and the dt scream keep talking them up by all means but until they make enough for the average joe discer to try I guess we will not know what is hype and what is real.

Marshall Street has the Scream DT in stock.

If you want a disc that you can throw at low speed and get to go far (like for rec players, kids, and women)... The scream DT is pretty sweet...
I used it as a lefty driver (I am RH'd) and it worked really well, when I was throwing like shite.
Anyways... cool disc.

Didn't the old Discraft "Deuce" have a double bead?

Dave are you planning on sending some of these out to the fellas? :D

Not sure what Justin meant but the discs has incredible glide and penetration!
Justin has so much power his discs rarely glide anyway, they're more like LAZER beams.
**
The amazing thing about the double beaded Scream is how controllable it is for how fast it flies.
It is our fastes flying discs( shoud we go to 11 or knock the other discs down to 9?)
The domier ones do seem to be better flying discs over a wider range of trajectories but even the flat ones seem to keep penetraing even when you think they should be dropping, they just dont fly as well higher in the air, but for line drive Hyzer flip ups they are really good!
We sold most of them am worlds and I only have a box of ones Ive already thrown. Most of them left weigh between 163 and 169.
I have a 150 that is really domey and is probably the farthest flying one Ive thrown.

No doubt, If we all threw like Kid there would be no need for anything but spirit and blaze... :D

Matt,
Have you been throwing the double beaded scream?
Do you know if David Wiggens has tested the Odyssey long range drivers yet?

David,
David took the Odyssey to the distance event at Tulsa and has been throwing it since then - as have I. Many "big arms" also threw it at the distance event. Here are a few observations we have;
1. Very cool look - definitely attracts people. Everyone wants to try it out. outer rim is soft to touch - good feel in hand. durability of clear center seems to be very good. outer rim shows a little wear, but not much at this point. Have not really tested this much by smacking it into trees etc yet.
2. Excellent glide - the disc has quite a large dome and seems to glide exceptionally well when level even downwind where other discs tend to fall out of the air.
3. Tails off very minimally at the end of flight more like a midranger in this regard making it a good choice for an approach shot.
4. Distance average for drivers. Downwind probably above average as noted above.
5. Definitely on the low end of the stability scale. The big arms at the distance comp needed to release it vertical and give it lots of altitude to have time to flip up and level off, otherwise, the disc turned over. David Jr, who throws up to 400 ft did not experience this problem as much and had to release with only a bit of hyser as did I. Stability comparable to a JLS or perhaps even a bit less, I think.
6. The stepped rim on the underside got mixed reviews. both steps are a bit thinner than the rims of most other discs. The step itself is unusual. David Jr had to alter his regular grip a bit for these reasons
7. Overall, I'd say it has good prospects as an "approach driver" in conditions where minimal low speed fade, good glide are important and high speed and snap are not necessary
thanks again for allowing us to try these discs out!!!

Is David Jr's main distance drive a sidearm? How's his backhand coming along? :)
dwiggmd
Aug 04 2006, 11:06 AM
He throws 90 % backhand, some sidearm and thumbers. working on throwing lefty believe it or not because he likes that flight path better than right handed sidearm

....and he's not really a kid. From watching him, I gotta believe he's just an extremely well conformed 34 year old midget. "I hate midgets.... and antique furniture." ;) /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :D
....but ya just gotta love Dave Jr. Got him to autograph a Roc to give to an out of state friend a couple of years ago and he was still printing his name. Great kid.

Do they come in Glow plastic ?

Aug 06 2006, 11:50 PM
No Glow in anything but the control driver so far!
We have so many new molds to prototype, next year is going to really be fun!!!
David Thanks for the thorough report.
I would love to have you and your son test fly all of our new discs as they become available.
Send your shipping address to david@gdstour.com and we will round up a box or 2 and send them down!

David, I finally threw one of the ultra long range odyssey drivers for the first time and I have to say that it really gets out there without much effort. Ive thrown the other odyssey molds with some success but by far this is my favorite. For a throw that needs to go 325-350 this is the disc, EASIEST DISC IVE THROWN IN A WHILE FOR DISTANCE!!!!. Great disc. Dave i will give you a call with another order soon Dave. Thanks

I know when we were looking at them at Worlds these things looked really cool. Dave I threw the Scream DT Max in the distance competition with that swirling wind we had it was the only one that I kept in bounds it was a little understable but flew pretty good in that wind I liked it.

RE Odyssey - some more follow up on the Odyssey.
Durability of soft outer rim surprisingly good. Though soft and "rubbery" which makes for great grip, outer rim takes impacts very well. Aside from "scuffing" no major burrs or chunks in edge.
Took this to the weekly tournament in High Point with multiple pro's in attendance. Again, great interest in looking at and throwing the disc. Gave one as a CTP. Won by Anthony Roe, one of the biggest armed pro's around here. He really liked it.

Just ran the next double beaded discs!
It is the Dimpled top of the scream Ultra and Max and the double bead of the Scream.
The nose is a little beafier on the Utra, the discs looks a lot like a tee-bird from the parting line up.
Will have some test reults by tomorrow for this disc and an overstable version of the Odyssey driver called the ( odyssey power-driver)
