Anyone handled one of these yet? How flat are they? I've ordered a couple but am afraid they're going to be all domed out and I love flat wasps. Fortunately, I have a tendancy to tune domey discs into being flat.

I got to handle all discraft's new stuff at a tourney today. These esp wasps look sweet. I am fired up. The esp flash mold looked nice, the 2 different pulses I saw looked like they'll be great for some, but I didn't like the feel of them. Also got to see a pulse with some were ring around it.

what did/do you think of the wasp and the flash?
I love these two molds and the esp plastic, so the release of these has me stirred a little
How do they compare to their Z counterparts, as far as durability, and stability?

Anyone throwing the ESP Wasp? The Predator and Avenger was so overstable I was curious about how the Wasp flies in the ESP plastic. More overstable than Z, or less?
Thanks

For me the ESP is a tad less overstable than my ghost stamped 1st run. Overall, I prefer the feel and flight of the ESP.

I lost my beloved Z about 4 weeks ago and had an ESP counterpart ready to fill it's spot. Thus far it has done it nicely. I don't think it is more overstable than the Z. For me, there was really no change in flight/throwing technique. I throw it the same as I would a Z Wasp, and get the same results.
Anybody else?
side note: My ESP Avenger is most definitely more overstable than the Z. Not quite a Pred/Tsunami for me, but still more than the Z Avenger.

If the ESP is the same stability as the Z, I will definetly throw it. The grip of that ESP is so sweet.

The one I've tried throwing was green and almost perfectly flat. I was testing to see if it'd replace a Z Wasp that IS flat. NO dome. First thing I noticed, I didn't get any skip from the ESP Wasp. My Z Wasp skips. Other than that, it's at least as overstable new as a thrown flat Z Wasp. It could be a replacement for me for most shots, but I'd have to adjust to the less/lack thereof skip.

I find the ESP Wasp straighter than the Z. It is still overstable, but it is more a resistance to high speed turn than a low speed fade.

I agree with this statement. The wasp is a great disc to begin with. ESP just made it better. I throw it real hard with a lot of snap.

the esp wasp has more versitility than it's z counterpart. it holds the line longer than the z. i carry an esp a z and a d for all different shots and if i could only carry 1 it wold be the esp. you will not be disappointed. this is the best mid range disc out there.

I have always liked the X wasp for my overstable mid, I its as stable as the Z, and the fade is more predictable. I also carry 3 D wasps broken in differently. The Esp for me is more similar to the X wasp, and I agree it is more versitle. It may replace my X wasps but they have yet to proven themselves that good.

My ESP Wasp has quickly become one of my favorite discs. I live in total ROC country, so its great to park Roc holes consistently with something else. I have found it to be impeccably durable thus far, which is strange because I have been breaking in ESP Buzzes fairly quickly. It must have something to do with that big bead. I prefer it over a Roc because it flies faster, lower, and is more predictable for hyzer shots. Oh yeah, and it costs much less than a Star Roc. ;)

Stable discs dont break in as fast, I had Z buzzes break in much faster than X wasps. Now I throw wasps in differnt plastics and stages of wear instead. (my beat D wasp is much more reliable for hyzerflips and annys than any buzzz Ive thrown)

How much D do you lose by throwing a Wasp over a Buzzz?

I lose about 20' on average, but add a low ceiling and it goes to 30-40'. The largest difference for me is at 300'. I can really finesse a Buzz on any little micro line, where I'm throwing the Wasp much harder. It is awesome to have them both for all wind/line situations. On many wooded holes I like the turnover Wasp line instead of flipping over a Buzz because the Wasp stays balanced really well when thrown with anhyzer, holding the angle of release and finishing flat. The Buzz and Wasp are the ultimate combo. If you want a more stable Buzz, try a Crystal Z.

Over the (last 9) years I've just had a lot more consistency with D/DX plastics for mids and putters. Too bad I loaned my Photon Wasp to another player...would like to get that back!

I that agree if I were throwing both in premium plastic, the buzzz would be longer.
however the D Wasp is as long as Z buzzz, and I didnt like D Buzzz's much, so really for me throwing my D wasps is a trade up.

in an open field the wasp adds distance for me. the buzz just doesn't handle the snap to put it where i want it. low ceiling you do have to throw it harder so you lose acuracy. the d wasp has filled in nicely for that though and i don't lose the distance.

Just curious...what does a D~Wasp have over a DX~Roc? Other than a different manufacturer's name...? /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

in my opinion, the D wasp is faster, more overstable and has less glide than a DX Roc. However, flat top Rocs are closer to D wasps than regular run DX Rocs. I prefer the DX plastic but they are so close it really doesnt matter too much.

I throw x-wasp for my 250-270ft mostly straight shots. My x-wasp glide about 20 further that my z-wasp. I still throw a beat in 180 dx roc for those big gradual turnovers to about 275. It holds well and doesn't come out to early or anne too quickly.

I am a big roc thrower (5 in my bag at all times) I bought the esp wasp mostly out of curiousity. To me, it feels like a very slightly beat up (2-3 rounds) dx roc, that can be put on any line. It feels to me like what the buzzz is marketed as. The ESP buzzz I picked up was a tiny bit flippy- enough to get out of my bag immediately. I like the disc, but something about it made me want to take it out of my bag. I think it was the lack of glide, which is one thing I really love about rocs. I prefer the star rocs to the esp wasps because they are more overstable and can handle a little more beef. For me, if it doesn't have glide, it better be able to handle the beef.

I like the Z for really overstable, but they are a bit shorter. I dont feel the need for a very overstable driver.
The X wasps new are amazing, they are as (if not more) overstable than the Z, and have quite a bit more glide. I feel they have more "touch" to them.
When I decided wether I wanted to switch to wasps or rocs (from element-x's, which I love, but couldnt find domey ones any more) I went to the store, wasps felt slightly better idk why. But then it came to mind that if I ever wanted to throw them in Premium plastic I could, and something about the KC plastic isnt too enthralling. If I had a reason to however, I could throw Rocs instead of wasps anytime, it wouldnt be a hard change.

thats interesting, because i think that is one advantage that the buzz has over the roc, is that the buzz has a little better glide. the buzz is a fantastic disc, so is the wasp. it just depends on what plastic you like. the x buzz is IMO the better out of all the plastics, same with the wasp. i like the d-wasp, but i use it for flippy turn over shots... just my 2 cents

I wrote that poorly. I was speaking of the lack of glide in the wasp. the buzz has a lot of glide, but not much else of what I was looking for.
