Jul 31 2006, 12:18 PM
This year So Cal Champs and Masters will be at La Mirada and so far, Golden State will remain at La Mirada next year.
La Mirada is still alive and well. A few holes were lost to the temporary construction fence. There are 28 baskets in the ground right now for your playing enjoyment. The course will receive a final redesign once the waterpark is complete. Again, not that many holes will be affected.
Dave Dunipace has done a temporary redesign that allows two 18 hole courses to be played for the So Cal Am Championships and is working on a redesign of the Par 62-64 Golden State 18 for this year's Masters.

A real PDGA sanctioned tournament, or one of your "let's meet around 11:00 and all throw $20 in the hat" kind of informal things?
Informal things are fine, but it would be nice to have a another real sanctioned multi-round tourney in SoCal.

As far as I can tell at this point, we will have lost 2 of the holes on the back back nine: #27 and #22. On the middle nine, we have lost one of the routings #16, #17, #18, but we have the other routing still left. The first four holes of the second 18 away from the lake have been lost, but can be replaced fairly easily.

Great News. The registration forms for the 2006 So Cal Championships should be online by the end of the day. However, for anyone interested in free online registration, it is live and ready to go at: Marshallstreediscgolf.com (http://www.msdgc.com/register/index.html)
The format has not been 100% finalized, but I cannot delay putting out the entry form any longer. I hope the event goes as planned, but it is subject to change.
Here is the tentative schedule: The Ams and Pros play on separate weekends. The Ams and Pros will play both La Mirada 18 hole courses on Saturday. The Ams will play one round of 27 holes on Sunday. The Pros will play the 18 hole par 65 Championship layout on Sunday. There will be extra events and contests for the Ams following the Sunday round. There will be a 9-hole $500.00 skins match for the top four Pros following their Sunday round.
There is lots of extra cash is being added this year for both the Ams and Pros and for the So Cal Series.
Remember, this is the final event of the So Cal Series for double points. The So Cal Series prizes will be handed out during the awards ceremony.
There are still So Cal INNColor discs available and the INNColor minis and custom hot stamp discs will be available soon!
Forgive me if I do not understand clearly... You mentioned about skin game... Is it for Pro only or included Advanced, too? :D

Suzette,
Has the layout/schedule been determined for am weekend yet? 2 18s or 1 27, start times, etc? just curious.
discette
Oct 26 2006, 05:56 PM
The Ams will play two 18's on Saturday and probably 27 holes on Sunday. The option on Sunday is to play 27 holes or only 18 holes, not 2 18's. The start time should remain the same no matter what. I don't want to turn players away this year. If more than 108 sign up, then Ams will play one of the 18 hole courses on Sunday instead of the 27 hole layout.
Maps of all layouts should be available early next week. They will be available at Lifetime Sports (La Ma Pro Shop) and at lamiradadiscgolfclub.com (http://www.lamiradadiscgolfclub.com/).
Tournament hot stamps are still available at discgolfvalues.com (http://discgolfvalues.com/store/index.php?cat_id=19&catname=Candy+Fundraisers)

Hey Scot ,
You might want to try www.priceline.com (http://www.priceline.com) You place your bid on the type of hotel and your price range.
They have 1 star , 2 star , 3 star , 4 star and 5 star hotels available. Depends on how much you want to spend.
I have stayed at some clean 2 star hotels for $ 35.00- $ 40.00 at night.
This time , I'm paying $ 55.00 a night to stay at the Marriot Courtside. Has a hotel store , Inside Jacuzzi / Hot Tub , swimming pool , cable tv , restaurant and super comfortable beds. I highly recommend if in your price range.
Otherwise , go for the Extended Suites hotel , about 5 minutes from the course. No swimming pool or Jacuzzi , but comfortable beds , Full size refrigerator , microwave and toaster. About $ 35.00 - $ 40.00 a night. Sleeps 4.

There is no place to go for a write up of the action.
There was no final nine, simply a nine hole skins match for the top four scores. The players were Mike Raley, Steve Wisecup, Jose Alcala and Philip Brathwaite. Unfortunately I did not get to see the skins match as I was busy in the scoring tent. However, when it was all said and done, the players "pushed" every single hole. They decided to simply split the $500.00 between them rather that go play more golf.
