The Mid-Atlantic AM Championships at Seneca Creek DGC is the premier amateur tournament on the East Coast and one of the best run tournaments out there. I ended my amateur career with a second place finish there in 2002. This tournament should not be missed by any amateur!

Hmm.. I've never even heard of it. Have you had it the last couple years? I wish I could come but I am sure I will probably be too busy getting ready for Animalfest the following weekend.

This tournament is held at the beautiful Seneca Creek State Park course in Gaithersburg, MD outside of D.C., which few people from NJ or NY travel to, except for perhaps the pro-only Seneca Soiree held each April. But if you check out the PDGA Course Statistics for Seneca Creek State Park (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/course_ratings_by_course.php?RatingCourseID=136), you can see that this event has been held for quite some time now. In fact, this year is the 12th annual event!
With a friendly staff and a world class disc golf course, this is an event not to be missed. Trust me, Jeannie!

I wasn't trying to imply that is wasn't. Since I've only been playing a couple years, I thought maybe they skipped a year or something. I can't believe I never saw that event. You know that I travel that far all the time to events, as do many of my friends. I am also very up to date on whats happening where and when and that's why I can't believe I never noticed it. I would have definately hit it up. Will try to this year as well if I have everything in place for Animalfest.

I guess I better start learning how to throw a roller!!
It really helps on that course!
I know a Seneca homie who, from the long tees, throws a roller for his drive on almost every single hole.

That's because he can't throw a drive to save his life

I played the MAAC last year (Jersey represent!!!) and loved it. They hook the ams up down there. But I learned a lesson - throwing the hot round 2 of the 4 rounds does NOT guarantee you a top 4 placement. :)

The Cedar Farm Golf Club is proud to present, the 12th Annual Mid-Atlantic AM Championship!
Most of the details will seem familiar. Once again, entry fees have NOT been raised. $40 for advanced divisions, $25 for AM2 divisions. Non-PDGA members must pay an extra $5 in PDGA extortion fees.
This year, the CFGC plans to sponsor lunch both days! Was it mentioned that entry fees have not been raised for this event in years?
Some details...
Seneca Creek State Park DGC - Gaithersburg, MD
September 23 & 24, 2006
Saturday Tee Time: 10:00 am (Short to A; Long to A)
Sun Tee Time: 9:30 am (Long to B; Short to C)
AM2 divisions play ALL rounds from the short tees. No long tee rounds for AM2!
Innova Discatcher to the winner of the Men's Advanced Division. In response to people's request for less plastic and different types of prizes, we are working on coming up with a very attractive prize package. Details on this are forthcoming.

As always, thank you for your interest in this event.
Please pre-register.

We don't have a host hotel for this one. This was posted by JeffL on the Soriee thread in April:
There is a TownePlace Suites by Marriott at exit 11 of I-270 in Gaithersburg. It is within walking distance of the awesome new Dogfish Head Alehouse (http://www.dogfish.com/eats/DFH_Alehouse,_Gaithersburg/2/index.htm). This is also less than one mile from Seneca. I can think of no better way to spend a day than disc golf at Seneca followed by big beers and dinner at Dogfish Head, although watch out for the alcohol content of those beers!
A Pre-Reg list will be up.
Yes there is a 90 player cap. Please Pre-Register.
We would love to have ya up for the weekend! John hooks the ams up!

HOT OFF THE PRESS:
From TD John Merhi....
Here's some updated information for you to ponder. The Innova Discatcher Pro has been ordered and will be awarded to the winner of the Advanced AM division (AM1 or MA1 depending on the severity of your dyslexia). Innova Champion continues to be the major sponsor of this event.
With a tournament at Calvert and another at Druid the weekend before/after, we are going to do what it takes to attract players. To that effect....
Lunch is being offered both days for players. We will be doing a cookout ala Druid Hill Open style (Hamburgers and hot dogs). Many thanks to the Cedar Farm Golf Club for helping to sponsor lunch and to the CFGC members for volunteering to help cook lunch.
In response to requests for less plastic and different types of prizes, we are planning on giving away either Best Buy gift cards or American Express gift cards. Neither can be redeemed for cash, so they fit the amateur classification of prize. The more people that show up or pre-register, the more gift cards we'll purchase. That said, I still ordered 100 discs and all discs ordered were either Pro Line or Champion (the club still has some DX plastic to give out as well). I ordered a bunch of sweet Innova golf bags too.
We had a very productive work day this past Sunday. Chainsaw Rory Duncan came out and removed every dead tree on the course (all 3 of them), including the stump on 9 and the downed tree on 10C. The Park gave us a gas powered weed whacker and a pole chainsaw. Chainsaw John McKee took the pole chainsaw and went to town. Lots and lots of pruning was done. Hector the whacker took the weed whacker and whacked just about every tree that had tall stuff at the base.
The Park is waiting until next week to mow the course. They want the Course to look as awesome as it can get for this tournament. We are so blessed to have our Park Rangers share our vision and work so closely with us. They loaned us TONS of quality equipment on Sunday and really enabled us. Once they mow, the course is gonna look AWESOME (it already does, sans a few spots of tall grass).
So I hope you'll consider travelling to the 12th M.A.A.C. We're doing what it takes to make this event worth travelling to and we are excited at the possibility of you coming to Seneca. It would be great if you could pre-register and you help us immensely by doing so. However, we do understand that some decisions are inevitably made "last minute" so there is NEVER a financial penalty for not pre-registering. But do it anyway. All the details can be found on the flier.
Thank you for your interest in this event!
