I have 9 PGA Mach III portables for sale. These have the plywood bases and are in very good condition. Used occasionally for about 4 years, then not used at all for the last 4 years. I would prefer pick-up over shipping, and I am located in Virginia. Please contact me for price.

asking price?

I would like to get $2700 for them. A new set of Portable Mach III's is $3708, plus shipping, so these will save a buyer over $1000 if picked up.

you can get 9 brand new disc catchers for that or chainstars or probally titans or mach 5's...

DGA has lost there minds for not lowering the price or doing away with the Mach III all together.

I'd trade my Mach V for a Mach III anyday.

but why? I have played on mach III for 10+ years and they do not catch near as well as the Mach V.

The only thing I like about the Mach III is the sound they make, cant duplicate that but for the extra money I could get used to a different sound. Mach III is just old tech, the new improvements to allow the chains to slide back and accept the putt is where its at.

To me it seems that Mach IIIs are more likely to catch a good putt and less likely to catch a wide putt, whereas Mach V Chainstars catch more wide putts and let some good putts slide through.

I think the sliders are marketing hooey. Maybe the sliders let a few high putts in, but not that I've noticed.

could be but Since I have changed to a putt that enters low and usually just right of center flat or very slight hyzer I have gotten more bounce backs off Mach III than any other basket out there. I guess everyone will have a basket that catches there individual putt a little better than another.

Okay, if you had 9 Mach III portables in really nice conditon, how much would you ask for them?

Jul 23 2006, 11:34 PM
$2700 is way too much for used portables with plywood bases. These don't even have the metal rollaway bases and you're asking $300 each? The Mach III portable with a rollaway metal base is $412 brand new. $200 each may be a better price.

I think it depends on the mileage and whether the brakes are shot. How's the upholstery on them? :D

Do they come with power everything? I demand a moon roof at the very least. A couple of air fresheners would be nice too if the previous owner smoked.

$100.00 each I'll pay with shipping.

For $100 each, I'll just destroy them. I'd rather lose $900 than get screwed by a fellow disc golfer.

So much for the disc golf family. I thought I'd put these up for some disc golfers that might get some use out of them, but I can see now that people around here are trying to get something for nothing. Sorry I asked.

Buy your cheap, new Pole Holes with wheels, no less. ( Can you say Lazy? ) I'll take these to our local metal crusher.

How soon do you need to sell them?

As crass as some of these posts are, they do remind us of how the pole hole has improved over the years. The metal base with the wheel can be left out in the rain and a little WD 40 will get it back into shape. Not to mention how easy they are to roll around.
Suggest you donate them to a church or scout camp and write them off as a charity donation on your taxes.
Or, maybe host an event or two on a "special " piece of land and use them as prizes over time.
Good luck with them.

I didn't really mean to be so harsh, just rational. Used is used. You are trying to sell a used car at 75% of the original cost without tires.

Set 'em as CTPs a few bucks a throw at multiple events. Stipulate you want some sort of return on investment.

Could you donate them to Findley State Park in Wellington, Ohio? There is a nonprofit group that accepts donations.

You could always take them to your local tournament and raffle them off or sell them on Ebay. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

He could always call DGA and get a different base with wheels. What year are those portables ?
