Deep refers to the amount of players paid, which by PDGA rule should be 40 - 50%.

I was just refering to the money added.

Either way I'll be there.

Will there be someone at OHO I can give my check too to save a stamp?

Pretty sure it is cart friendly but locals may not be if u use one. I believe Ryan Pickdaddy Pickens used one last year. There is some terrain out there but shouldn't be a problem.

Aug 29 2006, 12:20 PM
I did a web search. Here are the three closest listings. First two are 20 minutes to the course, Taylorsville around 35 minutes. I have never been to them, so you should call them for details.

1. Indian Springs Campground, 4361 Whitener Dr Hickory NC (828) 397-5700
2. Lake Hickory Rv Resort, 6641 Monford Dr Conover NC (828) 256-4303
3. Hidden Valley Campground, 2550 Hidden Valley Rd Taylorsville NC (828) 632-8111

For maps, search Yahoo for "campgrounds Hickory NC"

Please supply feedback so we can pass the word along to future campers.

Unfortunately Grill Master P, aka. Mr. Powell won't be able to cook lunch for us all this year. I believe it was a unanimous decision by the Club to save time, money, and energy and X providing food basically because of the hassle (and grade d beef isn't all that good for you). :D

So, it looks as though the alternative is up to you. From what I've heard, there will be maps provided of area resturants if you don't come prepared. Isn't that right, Dan the man?

Will breakfast be available?

The Powell family is great! Always willing to contribute in some way to make the disc golf world a better place. This family really does deserve some recogition for giving so much to help support the sport. Even if they didn't do anything, their positive spirit just being there is enough! :)

Aug 31 2006, 12:54 AM
BooneTodd,

Regarding yellow jackets and other ground bees:

We have nuked the ones we have seen, but they are industrious creatures and unfortunately they are not rare. You could play in full bee-keeper garb, but otherwise, group caution is required.

Please tell the TD if you find any animal hazards, like Freddy's tree climbing snake (not poisonous).

Just picked up the Shirts from Powersdisc.com (plug) and they look awesome especially the long sleeve high preformance. Makes me want to play AM with the Star disc also. If you're an AM in the area and not planning on coming you are missing a pp valued at over $65. Yes the noncollared shirts are long sleeve but if anyone has a problem I'm sure some Pros would like to take it off your hands.

Yes, we are filling up. Over sixty already.

Make sure to check out our CFR Star Sharks with custom Hickory stamp. Only eight left.

And I am now taking bids on the rarest of rare collectables: A cancelled, USPS, First Class postage stamp purchased (one assumes) and used ( DNA test results pending) by MTL. Bidding starts at $1.95.

Is the limit 72 or 90?

Sep 01 2006, 12:14 PM
We'll do ninety, but to avoid the $5 late fee and Saturday crunch, pre-registration is hightly recommended. Pre-reg ends tonight at 8 PM. I'll be at the course during doubles taking registrations. Doubles start at 5 PM. It will be cloudy, but we seem to be past the heavy rain.

Pics are up at the UFO site. If you have other pics I can post please email them to me at hickorydiscgolf@yahoo.com

I really need a shot of the UFO in the grass on #1. Another Freddy original. And great work on the tee signs, Ross. I know you and Clint put in overtime to get them up.

Thanks again to all who helped out. There was always someone ready to pitch in when needed.

To Dan, Ross, Richard, Freddy, et al. - Thanks for hosting a great tournament! I had a blast and will tell everyone who didn't come this year they missed out on the best players packs available. Hope we can fill it up next year.

Jerry might have forgotten his shirt but he brought his golfin shoes...not many people could have beaten him on Sunday.

See you next year @ Hickory!

It was another FUN and very memorable Hickory Classic to say the least, but I never can!

I think there were 6 ACES thrown on Sunday, and none on Sat.

From my perspective, all went well.

I agree, the player's package was one of the nicest I've ever received! CTP prizes galore too! Wow!

Congratulations to Jerry Harmon, Freddie Bowman, and Henry Childres, all with big WINS!

Thanks to all the locals who made it possible, Freddie, Ross, Brad, Clint, Richard, Nate L., Ron, BP, Gary and the P & R staff, the Powell's, Paul B and Innova, etc., ESPECIALLY DAN! Thanks DAN for stepping up and being the MAN this year! Great job!

I'd also like to thank all the people who I meet and threw with this weekend. It was a pleasure. And, Ross ta Mon for opening up and sharing his family's happy abode and offering quality 4 star like services throughout the weekend. Very kind! Also, Slim and Kelly for helping out with dinner both nights.

Good food, good folks, good golf, good times! That's what the Hickory Classic is all about!

I'm looking forward to winning this thing someday, maybe next year?

Peace
