I will be running this awesome fun and unique event this year. Due to gracious sponsers, I have already raised 355 dollars for this event and it keeps growing!!
I have a flyer made, but it is not up on the web yet. As soon as I can a link posted, it will be up.
Basics (that is different from the past)....
- This event will be combined this year - pros and ams together
- The field, due to time issues, will be limited to 72. NO EXCUSES!
- There will be an overall pro and am champion like usual, but there will only be 5 finalists in each event, regardless of division.
-DDC will be Friday in the Cedar Hills outfield at 2 PM. Ams are welcome to play and can receive the prizes if they finish in the money, but they will not recieve overall points for playin in this.
- The field, due to time issues, will be limited to 72. NO EXCUSES!
- Ams MAY NOT play in the pro division in distance or whatever - everyone will be in the same division for every event (except DDC)
And last but not least
- The field, due to time issues, will be limited to 72. NO EXCUSES!

Thanks guys for the good wishes and encouragment. Let's just say I have some blood vessels that need some attention in the southern hemisphere to help me increase the odds that I will have a little bow legged boy/girl to teach disc golf to. My wife and i have always wanted children and this seems to be the remedy for my situaion. The doctor says I will not want to play disc golf for at least a month or so, he don't know me very well. I do want to heal before pressing my luck.....so keep me in your thoughts and prayers. P.S. don't forget about the Disc Golf segment on PBS Thursday night. You may recognize the course.......

Good Luck Joe. I know the troubles of trying to have Kids. (But isnt the practice Fun).
I will be having surgery myself on the 11th for another cyst around my skull. This one being in the sinus's so not to bad. I also get a free nose job while they are at it and some Sinus reconstruction. The docs say this could be the cure to my other ENT problems. I think i will be playin golf a little sooner than you.

Weather looks awesome for this weekend!
Curios, is Special Ed gonna throw over the deep end of the fence at the ball field at Cedar farther than anyone again and not 1st place this time? :o
Or could the distance segment of the field events be held at a more approproate and unconfusing location??? Players can go to either field to do their field events and actually finish quicker for the day. Just a thought Tizzle.

While our facility for distance is not the best, we have to use what we have. Just like always, the distance will have a component of accuracy where players will try to throw as close to the foul pole as possible and, of course, as far as possible.

Sep 07 2006, 09:32 AM
You should start from out in the parking lot Tizzle.'s that accurate big bombers will be penalized.

Sep 07 2006, 09:50 AM
I agree that the Cedar Hills softball field is not the best venue for the distance competition.
However, from a logistics and cost savings stand point it is very difficult to run the field events elsewhere.
Since very few people ever reach the fence it really isn't much of an issue.
We will continue to try to find a better facility to host the distance competition.
If one of you wants to pony up the money to rent us a second facility (and you can find one close by to Cedar) knock yourself out. Or better yet please give me the pleasure of doing that for you.

Congrats to Dave Hesselberth and his partner for winning DDC. Richard Paschal and his partner came in second. There was a 100 dollar purse for DDC and we had 8 teams involved.
Only 9 pros registered for the tournament showed up (the rest were not in the tournament) making the overall battle a race btween 9 players.
Recieving 3 points was Richard. 7 points to GTW and Mike Hofmann. 9 points to MTL and Will Kuper. 11 points to Carter Allen and Brent Mabry. The rest of the pro players will recieve aprox 34 points for this event.

Well Schweb has 1, 1, 3 and 32 which is 37 and currently a 1 in golf for 38.
I have 3, 6, 33(guessing) and 11 which is 53 and 7 for golf for 60.
GTW was 4th in Accuracy, threw 140 yards in distance (roughly 10th Im guessing) and I'm sure like 10 - 20th in MTA along with 9 from DDC.
I would say that the 6 who showed up for DDC (me, Will Kuper, Mike Hofmann, GTW, Brent Mabry and Carter) and Schweb are the only ones who have a chance at the overall gold.
Everyhting will posted tomorrow morning!

Thanks to everyone for a great event. Cedar looks great. I especially want to thank those who traveled from out of town to support RADL and Raleigh disc golf. I know a lot of people complain about the field events but its fun to get out there and try something new. I didn't even realize but I should have just showed up to DDC, I would have gotten 2nd overall!! Maybe next year.
