I have seen some creative Disc Golf carts out there. Disc Golfers have made carts out of baby carriages, ball golf carts, old file cabinets, etc. Will you send me a pic of your rig? I want to post them on my website.
Thanks,

Sweet rig!!
Kinda reminds me of Scandinavian Furniture! Is this your design? One thing that I like is the fact that you can have a full size towel and it doesn't drag on the ground the way it would with a standard golf bag.
The other thing that stikes me as cool is the seat.
Simple. Effective. Awesome.

Good for a dry climate for sure. Would be frustrating in the rain. I too like the seat, simple and beautiful.

Jul 05 2006, 10:15 PM
In the rain everything is mushed. Those wheels look like they could handle alot. I suppose if it gets too bad you would just resort to a bag.
I am looking foward to checking out more rigs though!

The best options I have seen have a place to secure a bag in the cart. If the course is cart friendly, you take the cart, if it is too rough, you grab the bag.

You also need to consider bad weather when designing a cart. The discs and towels need to be protected from rain and mud.

That is what "The Great Timmy Gill" uses.

I have looked for the box before. Is it a tool box? What brand and where did you get it.

I know Timmy has a sweet set-up. I watched him putt from under his umbrella.

he bought the first one that I sold......after people saw him using it, people around here decided it was ok to use a cart. Before that people didnt want anything to do with them. I ended up building about 140 of them. Igloo quit making the container about 4 years ago :(

I got tired of lugging a bag around during the really hot summer months, so I decided to do a little engineering of my own. This ended up being free since I had all of the components, but never the less it works.

http://home.comcast.net/~cs_lastboyscout/Golf_Cart_Collage.jpg

Built using one of those folding golf carts, some nice water sealed wood and some hinges for the bag shelf and the cooler/milk crate shelf. Also nice having the scorecard holder, and it has to golfball holders that work well for holding towels as well. As you can see, I also added a nice mounting point for a cheap folding chair umbrella. It works to keep the bag and towels dry, and I usually have an empty milkcrate attached when I know the course needs a little litter picked up.

Here's my cart that I built. I wanted something where I could grab my bag if necessary to go out into the rough. The only thing that I don't like about it is that I have to take the box off the cart (it is mounted with wing nuts) when I want to throw it in the trunk between rounds.

This is my Dad's cart. He used the standard golf cart and cut the milkcrate to make a frame for his bag. Then he can pull the bag off if he needs to. Also, the umbrella is attached to about a 2' piece of pvc which slides inside the larger pvc tube on the cart, so it is secure, and can cover 3-4 people in the rain, plus his bag, with no handling or moving it. Of course there's a cooler for beverages, and a bungee net for extra coats, etc.

I make my own carts from scratch. This cart was in production when I took the pic. Currently it has 10 inch tires that are inflatable and is painted yellow with red doors. It also has an canopy over the top for rain. 1/4 inch plywood wieghs approximately 15 lbs. The handle and tires come off in under a minute for storage in a trunk. Holds 15 discs with two storage areas. You can sit on the top of it as a chair.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k208/lyleoross/cartonflowers.jpg

All my carts are made in a triangle format, similar to what you see with ball golf carts. The total matterials cost was less than $50 but labor is a bunch. If you have any tools at all, even a circular saw and a drill motor, you can make your own over the winter in the garage.

Here's my GoCart. I painted the wheels. Added mini-UltraStar hubcaps. You can also see I added a Phenix Disc Sports HardCore bag putter pocket on the back.
I really think these are the best things going. I've tried and seen others. This cart has everything I need stool, storage and umbrella. I can rig the umbrella with two Velcro straps to the handles and keep it over me, my card and my discs. I recently went to FL from IL. To avoid heinous shipping charges, I was able to break the cart down and get it all into one suitcase!!! It is expensive, but SOOO worth it.

This is another rig I would like a pic of with nothing in the backround. Would you repost in my other thread on this topic??? Another nice rig!

Does this fold up? If so can we get a pic?
Is there a story to go along with this rig?
Any construction pics?
