I am very happy to announce this years $30,000 Hole-in-One will be sponsored by the PDGA's newest corporate sponsor Microtel Inn & Suites.

The HIO will be held during the Texas 10 Charity Tours Final on September 23-24, 2006 in Live Oak, TX (north San Antonio).

The event is broken up into 2 separate days. Saturday is a B-tier for Amateurs and Sunday is a A-tier for the Pro's. You can find more information about the event at www.downunderdiscgolf.com (http://www.downunderdiscgolf.com) including how to sign up.

The $30,000 Microtel Hole is a 300 foot shot downhill which makes it very, very possible to make. I will post a photo of the hole later on.

Along with supporting this event Microtel Inn & Suites will be offering a special hotel deal for the event for which I will announce later in the week. The hotel will be just a few minutes from the course and also within a few minutes of San Antonio's famous River Walk.

What would you do with $30,000?

Come to my last ever event in the USA and have a Disc Golf party while playing two great courses for all the money and glory. While you are at it try to make Disc Golf History and win the richest Hole-in-One ever.

Why $30,000? Seems like an unusual number. Those aren't "microdollars" now are they? That would be like 3 cents? :D

The amount started at $10,000 a few years ago when I first did it. The insurance company was very worried about giving me a large amount early.

Over the last few times we have established a history with them and I have developed a good relationship with them to understand the sport.

Last year we got $30,000 so this year I wanted to go to $50,000 but they got scared at the last minute and only allowed me to have a $30,000 HIO. I think they are worried the numbers are now in our favor and someone is due to hit it.
