Watching the open and saw players write a lot of things on their yardage books to motivate them, also yardage books on longer courses could help. I head at the USDGC they gave them out? Put this in the equipment thread because it would be equipment.

Texas States NT had them also.

Yardage book? Is this like a sniper's log? That is what I use to track my shooting stats at the gun range.

It's more for taking notes on such things as course obstacles and the distance from certain features (such as the last pine tree) to the pin.

You cannot use range finders, but a yardage book is fine.

Shouldn't this really be in the rules section? And i haven't seen anything in the rules book about them so it must be allowed.

Why aren't range finders allowed? I mean from what I understand range finders just tell you how far away something is. So why is that an "illegal" thing? Not trying to cause trouble just wondering.

I think it's because not everyone can afford one. I'd use mine if it was legal. I had major eye surgery and my depth perception is off.

Sclerel Buckle? Yeah, strange courses are really a
challenge when the distant trees only have 2-D. I'll just
keep walking sideways until one hides behind the other or
I can sense the relative speed/distance.

How retarded would it be if we had to wait for all these people to break out the range finder on every hole? I would be calling 30 seconds all day. Hopefully mechanical equipment is already illegal in the rule book, if not, it needs to be.
