After talking with several XD cultists who have tested the Star XD, this is what we can say with reasonable certainty:

1) They're flat on top, very flat, especially the heavier ones. In fact, the heavier they are the more flat their tops are.

2) They are more overstable than DX XDs, some say much more. Regarding this enhanced overstability, some people like it and some people don't. One guy called it a "pig," and meant that as a compliment, which is the exact opposite way I feel when someone calls me a pig, unless I'm eating Table Talk pie for time.

Earlier today the Skull had a long talk with one of the 174-gram Star XDs, and afterwards I asked the Skull its impression:

"The simpleton amuses me," said the Skull in its usual hauty tone. This, incidentally, is exactly what it said about...oh, never mind. I guess I'm not quite ready to get banned again.

How thick is the flight plate?

I like the xd for pancake shots and the rigidity effects the movement.

Are there any differences between the INNcolor and the white MSDGC stamp?

I think most people throw XDs because they are high speed understable. Thrown with hyzer, they'll hyzer flip and hold a straight line. Thrown flat, they'll turn for sure.

While an overstable midrange may be otherwise valuable, people that throw and know XDs don't usually utilize them for this purpose. I think the warning is well deserved - thanks, Jason.

I keep several xd's in service. I use them for alot more than pancakes, but I've noticed a difference in the dx with weaker flight plates vs. heftier plates. I just want to make sure that this is a disc I can use for $20-30.

So, they are super flat....are they stiff or floppy?

The 175 gram one I received is in fact Very Flat, And Very dare I say Overstable. I like it but its not even close to a normal XD's flight characteristics. I am just hoping knowing the nature of STAR plastic that it will wear into the finest XD ever. As for stiffness, it is just like any other STAR Plastic I have felt, not real floppy, not real stiff, somewhere in the middle.

That's the report I was looking for...as for the overstability...I'll head to our local woods courses, Oshtemo, Kimball Pines, Coldbrook.....I'll turn it into a xd, if it kills it. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yes they do, as do the DX XDs. The mold appears to be the same for both.
