Hey all, I'm a huge fan of the drone... but I hate its plastic. The Pro-D stuff has warped so badly after only three months of use that I'm starting to use it more and more for conventional straight midrange shots... less and less fade, less and less resistance to headwind...

So I'm asking, is there anything out there with a drone's superoverstable flight midrange flight path... but with plastic that will keep it on that path for months longer?

Is Discraft going to come out with the Drone in ESP?

Gateway Blaze.

It's quite a different feel than a Drone, though.

Champ Gator-not as much glide as a drone
CFR Whippit is pretty close

An E-blaze should definitely compare to that of a drone. An S-Demon would work too. Gateway's "S" plastic is the best in the business as far as I am concerned when it comes to a lower level plastic. I've been carrying the same S-Demon now for 6 months and it still resists a 30 mph headwind nicely.

E-Blaze might be an interesting choice... we just got our first Gateway Vendor here in Toledo, so it'd be a good way to introduce myself to their line, maybe. For the most part I'm an Innova guy... but the Gator just doesn't have the glide of the Drone. If the Blaze has the glide and stability for those 250-300 foot forehand flick shots and headwind midrange approaches I'll love it, especially if the E plastic has any measure of durability.

I do not mean to sound obnoxiouse here but @ $8.00/ disc if you get a month out of it buy another. Its not like its a $18.00 dyed Candy/ Z disc. You can't even get a six pack of good beer for $8.00.

Try a Champion Banshee.

It flies like a well beat in Champion Whippet-X, only with more distance. It took almost a year for my Whippet-X to get broke in, and I didnt want to wait another year to break in another one. The Banshee works for that new.

Gateway's "E" plastic is very resilient. In my opinion, I would rate it right up there with the Innova's Champion and Discraft's Z plastics for durability.

Q-Sentinel is an option

yeah woj i'd also recommend either an E-blaze... i used to throw (in order fo speed but same stability) champ gators, champ banshees and champ firebirds...

but now i throw S Demons (you saw how sweet and sexy that disc is at hudson!), E Blazes (that uber clear one) and E Hybrids instead...

I still love those 3 discs, but alas.. all gateway now! so no more gators and banshees and firebirds for me...

but i can still hook you up... you wanna meet up at ottawa some morning this week??

If Drones were made in Z-plastic I would probably buy 4-5 immediately! Is it possible that the Drone can't meet PDGA specifications in plastic other than Pro-D? Might be a good question for the "ask about Discraft" thread...
