I threw Sarah DeMar's 1 or 2 times this past weekend. Felt nice in the hand, but too few throws to give a decent review.

Some are way domey, some are way flat. I didn't throw it, but a flat blue looked like it flew like a brand new D buzz.

The one I threw was very lo-profile, like a GT Buzz without the GT.

I picked a few up at the AJ opener this weekend. They were all near max weight(177-178ish) and flat as a CD. They fly a lot like a midnight buzzz, but maybe a touch less fade at the end.

The Midnight's are tastey.....I can't wait to try out a ESP one. I love the ESP Surge. But, still unsure about the Z Surge, seems more flippy then the ESP.

my thoughts exactly. i still have the z surge in the bag, but i'm not sure yet if it's staying.

and i'm waiting by the doorstep for the mailman to bring my esp buzzz.

most outstanding, mine arrived today! 177g yellows. pretty flat, but with the esp plastic that is not so much an issue. the plastic feels softer than it does in the surge mold, but thats prolly due to how it is distributed on the disc. i havent thrown it enough (or long enough since i'm restricted to my backyard this evening) to be sure, but right now it seems like this one is a worthy extension to the BUZZZ line. (btw, if even half the buzzz buzz is true, by this time next year the buzzz will be indisputably the most loved disc of all time.)

i would have to disagree. there are still more innova and gateway throwers out there than discraft alone, so i would think that rocs and elements have a pretty good portion of the "midrange lovers" market. and considering the fact that the buzzz is only a handful of years old, it will be difficult to convince many of the "seasoned" players that such a young disc should replace some of the tried and true ones from years past.

I use both the Z Buzzz and S element in my bag... seem to be a good combo...

when the esp is tested further, can anyone describe how it would compare to a Z Buzzz?

I think because of what Discraft throwers had to suffer to get to the Buzzz, namely, the Cruiser, the Phantom and the MRV, we love our Buzzzes approximately 12 times as much as Innova throwers love their Rocs. So that overcomes our lower number of actual throwers. :D

I dont think so. The buzz is a nice disc but I think that distinction probably belongs to the Aviar or Roc.

geez. those are the two that the buzzz in all its forms is replacing. and there's a couple new twists coming to the buzzz that will further entrench its top spot in plastic history. you'll see.

Jun 02 2006, 01:06 PM
namely, the Cruiser, the Phantom and the MRV

what about the comet or the hawk? i know of two world champions and many top pros that would prefer one of those over the buzzz any day. do the rest of you guys make up for their votes??

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here it goes....

Star Plastic from Innova is long and grippy, but I've found it to be must less durable than what they advertise...after one month's use with my 174 TeeRex (it's red which I've been told is the more stable color), the disc is now flipping in slight head winds. When I first got it, it was a stable pig. I've given up on Star plastic all together because of it's lack of durability (there's nothing worse than having to replace a disc every one to two months....I'm not sponsored...I can't afford it).

Now, getting to my point...I love the new Surge and Buzz in ESP plastic...they both have the perfect stability for my game in moderate wind. I've only had them a couple of days and they seem to be holding up pretty good. I wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has been throwing ESP plastic for a month or two and see if it holds up better than the Star polymer. I want purchase several back ups but only if it's going to last! Any feedback would be appreciated....and by the way, I would take any buzz over any roc anyday!

the buzz is one of the 2 best mid range out today. the other is the z wasp. that is my go to disc in any condition from 300 and in.

I think the ESP plastic is way better then the Star. I hit a metal sign, thinking oh Shiz my Surge is done. Just a scratch, was the result. Star plastic beats in way too quick. It makes a nice roller disc after that. I must say that the Z Surge is more flippy then the ESP, which says something for ESP plastic.

I've been throwing my ESP Surges A LOT since I got them. No discernable change in flight pattern yet. And that's with plenty of big hits off of trees, sidewalks, and other obstacles too. I have to say the durability has surprised me so far. Especially since I can hold my Surges in the light just right and see little marks around the rim where my thumb rubs on release. Not really rough abrasions, more like little polish marks. Interesting that ESP is soft enough that I can leave thumb marks, but durable enough to survive concrete impacts. Definitely makes me eager to get a couple ESP Buzzzes in my hands. Although it will take lot to make me abandon first runs and Midnights.

esp buzzz >>> in the bag.
For me, it holds a line better than my Z. I can really crank on it too and it still has that oh so beautiful staight line flight... And it's more grippy than my ESP Surge. I imagine it's the mold, but it feels great in the hand.
And I'll second the comment that ESP is better than Star. It just feels better :Dbut feels is in the hold of the holder....

What kind of weights are you throwing in the ESP Buzz ?

Does color make a difference ?

ferretdance03

I've only thrown one, 178 baby blue. I'm working on getting my hands on a few more though.
I didn't notice any difference in color in the esp surge, so i don't see why the buzzz would be different. this is discraft, remember... :D

Just received my baby blue 174g ESP Buzzz. Haven't had the chance to throw it yet, but I like the feel of the plastic. It's soft and grippy and is much more like Star plastic than the ESP Surge was (a good thing, imo).

I haven't thrown the Star Coyote, but the Esp Buzzz is more stable than the Champion Coyote. I would say the Esp Buzzz is like a new Star Roc or Super Roc. For me the Coyote is a turnover disc, like a beat up Roc, Buzzz, etc. etc. The Esp Buzzz is more stable and holds the line perfectly.

Jun 18 2006, 09:53 PM
I agree that the Ch. Coyote is a turnover disc. I do not agree that the ESP Buzz is a straight flyer. To me, it's a little more overstable than a Z-Buzz, which I consider a longer, straight flyer. The ESP is a great disc for those 270-330 shots that need a LITTLE left at the end. It's also working really well for hyzer midrange shots.

Jun 19 2006, 10:40 AM
Here's the true disc comparison.
Rocs = Wasps
Sharks = Buzzz
Coyote = Beat up Buzzz or really beat up DX Roc.

Know you know, and knowing is half the battle!

mikeP
Jun 19 2006, 11:58 AM
I throw Champion Sharks and they are slower and more overstable than any Buzz I've thrown. Crystal Z Buzz is the most similar to the Shark in flight. As far as Star plastic is concerned, there is a lot of variation disc to disc and mold to mold. I've got a really grippy Star Wraith that has gone from a booming straight D disc to a roller in a very short time :(, but I also have a TB and TL in Star plastic that I've beatin' the crap out of and fly no different than when they were new :). All and all I've gone back to Champion plastic for distance shots I know have a good chance of taking a hit because it undoubtably holds up better than Star. BTW, my Star Roc is hardcore overstable, unlike any buzz, probably more like a Drone. I wish Discraft would purposely mold more Buzzes close to 180g.

My ESP Buzzz feels, and flies, just like a new Holiday '05 Buzzz. Once it starts to get a little more beat in, it should hold that long annie just fine....

Great job Discraft!
