How do we go about getting a rating on our new course?

Run a PDGA sanctioned event.

That's the only way to get a rating? That's kind of poor. We are still in our infancy and will in the future be running a PDGA event but that could be a year or two away. There must be ways to rate a course without having to run a PDGA event.

What kind of "course rating" are you looking for?

If you are looking to determine the course SSA (such as here (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/course_ratings_by_course.php?RatingCourseID=2491)) you can run a tournament and use the scores and the CalcWCP spreadsheet to determine this for you.

If you are looking for an evaluation from the PDGA Course Evaluation Program (such as here (http://www.pdga.com/course/eval/course_eval_infotoptable.php?id=973)), contact Don Lane, your PDGA Province coordinator: http://www.pdga.com/contact.php

It's the only way to get an official rating.

The estimated rating continues to be the simple formula:

SSA = 30 + (Course length / 285) for average foliage

That will get you close. If the course is pretty open, the rating might be 2-3 shots easier. If the course is mostly wooded it could be 2-3 shots tougher.

Great, that is more along the lines of what I was looking for. We just want to get some idea of how we are doing rating wise. I know it won't be exact but it will give some indication of how we are playing.

Thanks

PS> That formula is in feet not meters.

LMAO

Just got an image of them calclating their ratings and then...

"Dude, our ratings are less than 500!" :eek:
