These discs are great, but seem to be overshadowed by the Wraiths and TeeRex. From the Pro L version to the Star X version these discs are the longest control drivers on the market IMHO. In my bag right now I have a Pro Starfire L for long finesse shots with no fade, a newer production Champion Starfire for straight power shots with no high speed turn, and a Star Starfire(x) for wind or when I want more low speed fade. Anyone else throwing these or other Starfires?

For straight up D, I use nothing else.
An X for the headwinds and flexes.
A CFR L for the straight shots.
And a beaten Pro L for those beautiful flips.
Bought a Wraith thinkin it be better into a headwind than the SF L, but the wraith would flip just as easily as the SF L. Wraith is just a SF L with more of a flex/fade at the end. So I got an SFX and found the solution to the headwind.
Should of just trusted in the Starfire :D

FYI, there is already some good discussion about the Starfire in other threads, including one dedicated to a comparison of the Wraith vs. Starfire vs. Orc.

I find the Champion Starfire (aka: 'x') to be a superb, long disc into headwinds. They don't turn unless you force them to and they go a long way. I've yet to throw the STAR version of the Starfire (x) but imagine they are more overstable still. Anyone out there have info on how the Star Starfire (x) flies compared to its Champion compadre?
The Starfire (x) is more hi-speed stable than an Orc, and the Pro Starfire (SL) has more turn than an Orc and is better for tailwinds.

I have thrown the Star StarFire ( SS ) and it's really stable into a headwind. You can throw this disc really hard with no worries , kinda like my Dx Wraith !!!! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
The Pro StarFire is a really nice flat line driver with nice glide.

Champion Starfire Vs. Star Starfire (x)
I have both Champion Starfires (clear red-orange 175g) and Star Starfires (x) (red 175g). The Star Starfires seem to be a touch faster and have more low speed fade. I don't necessarily find the Star to have more resistance to high speed turn however, and I prefer the Champion for straight ahead distance. The Stars hold the hyzer release angle tighter whereas the Champion fight foward a little further before taking to the left. I wish the Star SL had less low-speed fade, as it is it fades as hard as the Champion Starfire.
Starfires Vs. Wraiths/TeeRexes
Starfires are more high-speed stable than Wraiths and about the same as most TeeRexes, but with less low speed fade than either. In windy conditions Starfires flip slower from a hyzer release than Wraiths or TeeRexes, making them more reliable to hold a line. That being said, Wraiths and TeeRexes have greater distance potential with their greater speed and more dramatic flight paths.

...am diggging my new Champ SF...was easily out-distancing my other discs with a great repeatable flight line. Kudos!!

Starfire are the single best disc for both backhand distance and forehand control. I snatch up any Starfire I can find (excluding SLs, they are not true Starfires in my opinion.)
CFR Starfire - Aced worth $100.00
CFR Starfire - Aced worth $125.00 at Am Worlds '05
CFR Starfire - 400 foot forehand ace on a practice basket
Glo Champ Starfire - 500' backhand drive
I carry three SF in my bag at the moment, one flippy, one strait, and one in Star that is nice and stable. Great disc, certainly my number one driver.
