Brake cleaner works wonderful!!! That's the best thing I've used and it works great. Just rinse it off and clen it real good after removing stamp.

Acetone, cheap and readily availible, doesnt damage the disc and works really well.

That's what I use, but it does slick the surface of putters hardcore. BEWARE!

I just removed 3 hotstamps from premium plastic (1 champ, 1 star, 1 Z) this weekend. I bought some acetone and wal-mart, and worked like a champ! Simply put it on a rag or something, leave the rag on the stamp for a few seconds, and wipe.

:DExactly................do not use on softer plastic like putters.

I use Goof-Off (not 2) to get mine off. Just pour it on, let it sit for a few seconds and then wipe.. It also doesn't hurt to wet the part of the rag that will be doing the rubbing w/ Goof-Off. I have never had any reason to even try anything else.

I love throwing my blank CFR Wraiths, no one knows what they are. (Until they fly that is!)
Good luck.

Throw the discs in the dishwasher, this is the best solution I have found.
And you get clean discs with no odor, or harmful chemicals.

So is it true that doing this makes them slightly understable?

If so would re-dyeing them return them to their original stability?

no removing the stamp doenst make the disc understable, not sure where you got that info from, however full-color stamps and some double/triple stamped discs are usually more stable due to the disc being flattened in the process. and i dont see how changing the color would change the stability unless the dye somehow adds a significant amount of weight.

I feel kinda stupid but where do you buy Acetone? What is it supposed to be used for? Thanks in advance

I have tar on my discs from the road, hopefully it will remove it.

Buy it at Lowe's. From the paint aisle (Thinner/Solvents/Removers area).

Blue can with a big red label. :)

So is finger nail polish remover acetone? It is a more convienent for me to go to the drug store than it is a Lowe's or Home Depot and I would prefer to just get a small bottle.

Depends on what you get at the drug store. "Old School" nail polish remover is acetone.

You'll need to make sure the bottle says it's acetone, as I don't think the non-acetone stuff (which is MEK, etc.) works as well as the real thing. Plus, avoid the scented/lotioned types too.

Really not an expert, I just sell the stuff. :)

MEK works great, it is a little more caustic than the accetone. :D

It has not affected the stability of my plastic. I have done it to CFR plastic, Champ plastic, and Star plastic. The only way I would think it may affect the stability if you used extreme heat on the drying process.

I've removed hotstamps with just some dishwashing soap. Goop it on straight from the bottle and let it set for a while. Scrub it off with a dish sponge with the scrubby side. Use the scrubby side of the sponge, not some thing like and SOS pad. The scrubby sponge WILL take it off.

It may take a couple of rounds, but I don't like working with organic solvents any more than I have to. I'm organic and I may dissolve.

Don't know why the rainbows are so hard to get off but I had the same problem.

Be careful not to have your dye to hot when you drop in your disc as boiling water will change the disc. I had this happen to a KC Pro Roc i dyed for winter use. Put it in almost boiling water and it flatten the dome out slightly. Didn't make the disc more stable but changed the feel. I have heard that doing this to a New Disc will make it more overstable as you are making the flight plate flat. Possiably rendering the disc Illeagl?

Magic eraser works good and doesn't do the surface damage that acetone does.

I have had years of experience with removing hot stamps and it is not true that acetone will not damage a disk. If you leave it on too long it can warp a disc, especially light weight ones. If you do it quickly, there is no damage. A little too slowly and the 'sheen' of the disc will also come off as the acetone begins to dissolve the plastic. Also, if you're not careful, the dissolved coloring in the hot stamp can smear on the disc and become permanent.
Thanks to all for the alternative methods. I learned a few things. Dishwasher works, but for me left quite noticeable 'ghost' hot stamps.

When I take a colored stamp off(none silver) I put a few drops on the stamp then blot of the color then the silver is still there. Then you can scrub it off real well and the color won't smear into the rest of the disc. I made the mistake of just rubbing off a blue stamp and my dye I did had a halo of blue around it. I know that Innovas stamps are based with silver then color over the top this is why it happens like that.

This is the damage i was talking about. It gives the disc a sort of slippery feel that bothers me.
