Tournament Update ...

This year's Michiana Open will mark the first time that the new 24-hole permanent layout at Ox Bow will be used in competition. All baskets are in the ground.

Rum Village will use the same six alternate holes as were played earlier this year at the Pillage The Village tournament. All alternate holes are staked out and OB lines identified.

There will be a FLY MART at the host hotel on Saturday night from 8 PM to 11 PM. Limited space still available. Any interested vendors should contact me ASAP.

Barring any unusual circumstances such as lopsided registration in a particular division or two, the flights are as follows:

Open Divisions:

Two Rounds at Ox Bow on Saturday
One Round at Rum Village on Sunday

Am Divisions:

Two Rounds at Rum Village on Saturday
One Round at Ox Bow on Sunday

Final nine will be held at Rum Village following the completion of the third round. Awards ceremony immediately following final nine best shot.

Final Registration and player check in at host hotel. You make arrive early to register. Players' meeting begins at 8:30 PM.

Hey, if you just realized you are free this weekend you can still register for the Michiana Open Friday night before the players' meeting. Tournament staff will be at the host hotel from 6pm - 8:30pm to take late registrations.

Camping options are filling up but I checked with Elkhart County Fairgrounds and they have ten camping available for $10 a night which includes showers. 574-533-3247.

Mini Mountain is nice and not too far out of town. I think it is on Route 20? You can find it by googling it, I'm sure.

A few years ago Jon and I spent two cold, fall weekends there designing an 18 hole course. It would have been so cool too, because they have golf carts for rent. They ultimately decided to spend their money improving the east end camp sites so they could sell the place and buy a camp out west.

I hope that all worked out for them. They are/were really nice people.

Yes it was sweet to watch!!

Unfortunately I slightly rolled my ankle that I had surgery on this past October on some rough areas of Ox Bow during the 3rd round. It was minor but enough for me to pull out and DNF. Not like my game was getting better either that round hehe. That was my first ever dnf and I hated it very much. So I dunked my ankle in my cooler of ice for 20 minutes and took some Motrin. Then I walked it off awhile and supported my buddy Larry in the final 9. It was amazing. I remember one hole they played 10's tee to 12's basket at Rum Village Park. Just nutz!!

Believe it or not Larry held his own. They did take a few of his drives and a few of his approaches. Very impressive final 9. WISCONSIN REPRESENT!!!

Great tournament!! We're come again. Now for those disc golfers who didn't go and were sitting at home get off your butts next year and go!!!!! This had a very low turnout for an A tier event. Allot of people missed out on a sweet event!!

Thanks again to Jason Samuel and his staff for putting up a excellent event!!
