I found a photo of a 1988 tourney held at Highland Road Park, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I recognize Jeff Homburg in the white and Richard Harris. But the two "players" I do not renognize and I know I should.

What a great park. Too bad there isn't a DG scene out there at all. I always make it out when visiting my sister-in-law's fam.

That is a fantastic park. Giant old Live Oaks, lush green fairways, and talk about a nice part of town. ;) I have a lot of family out that way (10 aunts and uncles), is your sister in law related to any King's around Prairieville?

How can you say there isn't a disc golf scene in Baton Rouge, John? You should try and make it out here this upcoming weekend for the May Madness tournament (SNAC and SNPC qualifier) . The scene is alive and growing at a great pace. There are new people coming to Highland Road all the time, and I know this because I live two minutes away from it and am there every day. The reason why you may not hear about it much is because we are in Southern Nationals Land and there aren't very many PDGA sanctioned tournaments here. I just played in my first one at the Texas State Championship three weeks ago and did pretty well, so I know we have good caliber players here in Louisiana. You should try and make it out for the Louisiana Open in December, it will be a B-Tier event and Will Timmons can organize a heck of a tournament. They are always a great time and nobody ever complains. We'd love to see more Texas players take the short ride east and give us some competition. Check out the event schedule at www.sndg.org (http://www.sndg.org).

You're right Jose, i shouldn't have said "there isn't a DG scene" there b/c obviously someone is taking care of the course. It's always well maintained when i play it. I love the course. I've been playing it for years. Everytime we do a BR trip to my sister-in-law's.

Is there a Baton Rouge disc club/organization? Are there weekly or monthly mini's now? With LSU being right there you'd think so. I guess that's what i meant by "scene."

I've played a few SN events. Top notch stuff. I just don't get to travel like i use to. Wife, 2 year old, house....i guess life got in the way... :D

Lost touch with Michael David once Katrina hit. He was living in Slidell. He and Kevin Pelton are long time friends and were/are my north LA, and south LA disc golf contacts. :DDo you know of Michael David, or his whereabouts?

Yes I do, I think he is living in Slidell. As a matter of fact he is going to play in the May Madness tournament at Highland Rd. next Saturday.

We play random draw doubles every Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Highland Road Park. Tuesday doubles at 6:00 pm at Greenwood Park, have you played there? It's in Baker, LA. about 30 minutes from Highland. A good number of golfers get together at Greenwood every Sunday for a handicap league at 1:00 pm. Lots of choices and plenty of great people to hang out with. You should join us for a round next time you visit the in-laws. Who knows, you may walk away with the ever growing ace pot and cover all your travel expenses. It just builds up until someone nails a 1.
