Hey Joey. I can't seem to find the event listed on the tour page. Is that because the sanctioning process has not been completed?
ozdisc
May 23 2006, 08:27 PM
I am sure that is the reason. The PDGA will not post the info now until the paperwork is completed. As said my several people including Joey this event is going to happen and very likely going to fill. It is on www.lsdga.com (http://www.lsdga.com) by the way.
Signup now before it does fill. Check earlier in this thread for the details that Joey posted.

Can someone tell me , how the water levels are in the ponds and the river ?
maceman
Jun 05 2006, 01:00 PM
I heard that the water was low a few weeks ago. Then I heard from a few friends that went recently to play and The Beast was out due to the boat races, so I would say that the water is back to normal.
atxdiscgolfer
Jun 05 2006, 01:08 PM
its been a while since I have played there (6 months or so) but the pond was completely dry and the river was low; I would imagine that the river may be up but I bet that pond isnt full unless they had a lot of isolated t-storms.
TLD3
Jun 05 2006, 01:14 PM
Thanks !! Now I have to try to keep from losing half my bag before round 2 !! Lmao
atxdiscgolfer
Jun 05 2006, 01:16 PM
if that pond is that the way it was its going to take a 600ft+ anhyzer to reach the river so I dont think you have anything to worry about.
TLD3
Jun 05 2006, 01:20 PM
It should be a little better this year , last year was my first year playing disc golf and I came to waco 3 times and 1 of those times I lost half my bag in 2 rounds so didnt have much to play with the rest of the way . Rofl

June 9th (Friday)
Late Registration at Redwood Shelter
From 2pm to 6pm Bring your partner doubles
who is running doubles, which course will the open play and how much? thanks
MaceMan doubles on Friday. Usually he does a 2 to 6 flex start. I will let him post which course.
The river and pond are full. So bring plenty of plastic.
Right now the City is constructing concrete teepads for the front nine at East. We wanted to get all eighteen done, but couldn't make it happen in time. Next year we will have them all in.
On a sad note, Charlie Farrar's dad passed away at 1:45 pm today at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He had been battling cancer for the last 18 months. Charlie has always been a big supporter of Waco discgolf. Supplying ice, water, a lot of good laughs, and anything else that needed doing. I am not sure if you will see Charlie at the tournament this year, but if you do, please give him a pat on the back and let him know you are thinking of him in his time of mourning.

It probably takes a little time to show up is my guess. You cannot register online after the 8th so i imagine its for that reason.
Don't worry about entries. Titledisc doesn't always forward the entries to me on the same day. I expect to get a bunch from them today and tomorrow.

Not to change the subject (about getting Chris kicked out of the country ) but do any of you Waconites know of a place called "Health Camp". It's supposed to have some of the best burgers in texas. The address that I have for it is 2601 Circle Road. Justed wanted to see if anybody had eaten there. Thanks!

Willy, i've eaten there for years. Let me be the first to tell you, the food is not healthy.....at least the food i get. Great burgers!

We like them and they have old fahioned burgers and malts. From I35 take the Valley Mills exit if you are driving south go left over the overpass and you will come to the circle it is around the circle on the left you will see an old Dr Pepper sign. Hope this helps

How's the injury healing?
You gonna make it to Whacko?
my_hero
Jun 09 2006, 11:39 AM
Thanks for asking James. Still hurting pretty badly. I'm not suppossed to be golfing at all, but i can't sit out of some of the mini's around town. Bear Creek's ace is $ 1,100, and Vet's was $750 until Clay Brumit took it to the bank!
Once Bear Creek's ace falls, i think i'll sit out for a few months. It looks like my next tournament will be the VPO b/c as of right now, i start really hurting after 15-16 holes. Playing 63-72 holes would be suicide right now.
Really sad to miss Waco. I've been to all except 1998(out of state with work) and 2004's(Baby-Hero was born a few days before).

Congratulations on a very well run tournament. We appreciated the water, the ride on the golf cart back to tournament central when the round was over, and the general pleasant environment. SuperGirl (Nicole) definitely appreciated the ride to the tee-box to start round 2 when she was running late and having trouble finding hole 17 on the beast.
Overall Nicole had a good time at the tournament. However on Saturday she was very upset about the way she played. In the 1st round, she had 7 OBs on the 18 holes of Cameron West. She was obviously struggling with her accuracy. In the second round on Saturday, she played the beast. The beast is not a good place to play when you are struggling with your accuracy and your confidence is down. Needless to say the tree holes of the beast jumped up and bit her on Saturday.
Sunday was a different story. She decide to leave her driver in her bag, and throw only long approaches from a stand still position (no stepping and throwing). She lost her main driver (a beat up Pro Valk) a few days before the tournament, and she was having all kinds of trouble controlling her new driver (a brand new Star Valk). So we put away the driver and decided to sacrifice distance for accuracy. It worked like a charm. After the first 2 rounds, SuperGirl trailed Linda Barber by 23 stokes. Linda is a very good player and won the rec women division (her score would have won the intermediate womens division by 9 strokes). On Sunday, SuperGirl played Linda pretty much even. Linda was only able to add two stokes to her lead during the 2 Sunday rounds. SuperGirls Sunday rounds actually compared favorably with the intermediate womens scores.
So the tournament ended on a high note for Nicole. She left the tournament pleased with the way she played and happy about finishing in second place in rec womens. She was happy with the 2 birdies she got this weekend, including the CTP on hole six of the beast that earned her $50 dollars. She was also happy that she got to play on the same card as Tricia Virtue. This was the first time she was able to play on a card with someone her own age (Nicole is 10, Tricia is 11). On the final hole of round 4 (hole 9 on Cameron West), the adult ladies all got 4 or higher. Nicole and Tricia both got 3s (Nicole almost had a birdie, but her 25 foot putt hit the chains, kicked back out, landed on the rim of the basket, and fell out). Nicole thought it was cool that the kids finished the tournament by wining the last hole over the adults.
Thanks again for a great tournament. We will try to be back next year.
ThanksRick
PS..I did see Paige throw over the river. One wordAmazing!

It was nice meeting you and El Chile at the Olive Garden. Nicole recongized yall from the tournament and wanted to say hi.
She will not be at the Wimberly tournament because she is playing in the Conroe tournament instead. After that she will probably play in the Lewisville TX7 and the Corpus Chisti tournament before going to Worlds in Tulsa.
Maybe we will see you at one of these tournaments.
Thanks........Rick
