Biscoe posted this info in the VA disc golf thread - I'm not sure the entry fees or wha not, but I do remember that ams are playing sunny, adv. ar at the dark side, and pros are at Hawk Hollow.

One round will be best shot and one round will be best score.

Play open and play Hawk Hollow!

This is just a hunch, but you may be able to find details at the Grange website as Bryan has indicated. Just a wild guess though. Give it a try.

Bryan,
I'm currently registered in Rec. Would it cause too much trouble to move me up to Intermediate? I can get the difference in the mail before the first if you let me know.

Thanks,
Rick

They have internet here in New York CIty.

In fact, we have everything! (except disc golf).
I, however, am somewhat internet challanged of late.

Bryan Law is doing a great job getting everyone set for the tournament.

The Doubles format has been stated:

Pros- HH
Adv- Darkside
Am/Rec- Sunnyside

Both rounds. 1st round- Best score, 2nd round-best shot.

All other info is at website.

I may be making Grange apperance this weekend.

The mixed doulbes in not sanctioned. It is usually a very casual division. All teams sign up at the Am/Rec price.
Payout tends to be deep.

Mixed doubles is slated to play the Sunnyside twice with the AM/rec divisions.

To all the Ams who did not get in:

You can still sign up on waiting list
You can still play in Pro division

This tournament has much more to it that just Disc Golf.
The camping, tiki golf and music make for a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Many Ams played in the Pro ranks last year and had a great time. It also is a great experiance to play with the best players (at least for one round)

Added holes do suck, indeed. It makes it more difficult for tournament staff to provide the appropriate level of service to those who were prudent enough to register ahead of time. It makes for longer rounds not only because of more holes, but because of larger groups.

So heed John's word and don't suck.

MiTTenZZ
May 11 2006, 03:53 PM
I was just kidding, I can't stand added holes in general because they aren't good holes (typically) and make the rounds that much longer. The only reason I like them is for this coming weekend because adding holes let me into the event because I'm a pre-reg slacker.

Special Thanks to Bryan Law for stepping up.
Ben Bartlett for pulling the courses together (they look great)
And Mike Trapasso for building The Grange 10 years ago and creating the Tournament/Music Festivel experiance.

The bands are going to be great again, Smile is reported to Headline Sunday night again.

The sponsor Hoodie looks great and will go fast. If you want one you should register as a sponsor on the website.

The menu is finalized and the outdoor kitchen will be in full swing. All you need in BYOB.

$75 Hole Sponsorships
(The black hoodie with the gold embroidered Grange logo is SWEET! Not to mention the INNColor Grange themed limited edition disc that's also included at the $75 dollar donation level)

Program Ads:
(Programs will be distributed in everyone's player's pack,
I need to receive the text of the ad by this Saturday)
$50 donation gets a half-page ad to promote your club, course, tournament, etc.
$75 donation gets a full page

($25 off if you place an ad in conjunction with your hole sponsorship.)

We will also be very grateful to anyone who wants to show their support by donating merchandise for use as CTP prizes.

Don't forget to register for Tiki madness as soon as you get to The Grange. Seeding for this event is by order of registration. Final- four cash payout. Paying only four? What if 150 people pay $10 to play and we only pay four? Sounds like a sweet payout to me!

-----------------

Welcome to the 2006 Virginia Open!

This years event promises to be the best "Two Days in May" yet!

The field has been full for weeks and the course looks beautiful. Sponsorships are coming in (don't wait to buy yours, hole sponshorships are limited and the gold "The Grange" embroided hoodies that come with them are in high demand!) The menu for the "Two Days in May Cafe" has been finalized. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available both days. "Ty's Fries and Ice Cream" will be there to satisfy your carb and sugar fixes. Tiki Madness, Saturday and Sunday evenings, will put your putting to the test and the music lineup for the weekend with "Brock" and "Smiile" scheduled to play rounds out an awesome time at The Grange.

While enjoying yourself and competing in this excellent event please remember;

The Grange is private property, graciously shared with us because of our common love of the sport of Disc Golf. Playing at "The Grange" is a privilege. Mike, Jenny and their kids welcome everyone. All they ask from you in return is to have fun and respect their property.

I am a 935 registered AM who is playing doubles with a 959 registered PRO who hasn't cashed in years. Can we play AM doubles?? Need to know soon. Thanks,

Jesse

MTL21676
May 17 2006, 06:21 PM
no - the event is sancitoned and if his rating is above 955 and he has cashed, he can't play am

May 17 2006, 06:25 PM
just a little disapointed that the am doubles are not best shot for both round and that the advanced division is only playing the darkside......i guess i live in the past like last year when it was best shot both rounds one from the sunny one from the dark.....but its the grange and it will be fun anyways

My 959 registered open partner has never cashed. Does this make a difference?

MTL21676
May 17 2006, 06:31 PM
if he is registered with the PDGA as a pro, then he is a pro. If he is registered as am and is playing pro this weekend, then he is an am

Fats
May 17 2006, 11:42 PM
Hmmm, didn't know that MTL. I'm a 945 rated player who has never cashed in pro. But since I registered with the PDGA this year as a pro, I'm pro no matter what?

(If I have options for dubs, I'm gonna take 'em)

cwphish
May 18 2006, 07:14 AM
Derek, the key is to register as an AM, and save a few bucks. Then play what you want. But once you take cash, it's all over.

BTW, anyone still need a dubs partner????? I have never taken cash so can play either. I'd prefer to play AM.

johnbiscoe
May 18 2006, 10:08 AM
derek is eligible to play am because he is rated sub-955, the good doctor is not because his rating is above 955 even though both carry pro cards.

Thanks Biscoe. I didn't know if DaDR never cashing as a PRO would change anything.

he can also request the competition director for a return to am status although the time frame is too short for it to be a help next weekend.

The darkside is easy to play blind...I did and shot a 48. :-D Whooped up on Moser then. As long as you can throw an accurate 300 foot buzzz/roc shot, you're golden.

A 340 flat teebird on what I think are 14, 15, and 16 will help too, though I may be off on 14 and 15....16 you'll want to hyzer pretty strong at the end. And if you're Skinner, 16 is an easy park hole :) Along with most of the rest of the course. next time I don't want to see him miss those two easy putts in a row.

It's okay, Ray. The OB pool gave you the shot at the $500 to begin with. :) But I'm glad to see you went on to better things.

Seriously, the Grange was phenominal. Tiki, ringtoss, two sick sick courses, perfect weather, Camp Esther, hearing the word "Bayville" more than the words "disc golf", hold'em, the SHOWER!!!, jamming on Sunday night....
To EVERYONE involved, thank you.

I've been told that there is now a song called "Chris Hysell". Was someone pulling my leg?

Did you ace at the Grange?

Chris had the first Grange ace and also aced #9 on the Darkside this weekend.

If there isn't a song, maybe there should be.

Cashing EpRoG, where have you been? I have aced at the Grange a few times. Give Mike a few beers and ask him.

Wasn't GoRpE a video game?

Oh the stuff of legends.

The first time I met Mike Trappasso was when I played the Grange for the first time. I kept asking him "has this hole been aced yet?" I'm certain I was annoying as heII since no one had ever aced there. It only took 11 holes to get an ace.

A few years later he mentioned that someone needed to ace #9, the signature hole. I did it for him so he could sleep at night.

I aim to please.

So Mike August, what do you think about the forehand roller on #3 that missed the pole by inches? Legendary.

It will be added to my mental record of all-time legendary disc golf shots.

And if you are still taking requests, I want to see an ace on Hole #4 at New Quarter. I've come close a couple of times, but you should be able to walk up and do it on command.

Snoop,

Those who weren't there shouldn't throw stones at old Hysell's.

Forehand-Roller park-shot on #3 is SWEET.
Only old guys in expensive Chevrolets can pull that one off.

I know a lot of you were interested & I spaced them both days, so the Grange half-price special on STAR Gremlins will be extended for another week. Both stamps are available (AMC Gremlin & Ring of Gremlins) 173-175g, as well as some sweet WI-dyes,

If you set foot onto the Grange this weekend, $15 (white) or $20 (dyed), shipping included. PM me if you want to take advantage of this INSANE deal!

OOPS! Per Innova, I have to charge at least $16 for the CFRs, so sorry for the "bait & switch", but the new price is $16 white or $20 dyed thru next week.

I'd give that one a ten, Dick...the lyrics are smokin, and the beat is easy to dance to.
