I am hoping to make the trip from Knoxville, TN.
Is this a good place to look for info or should I be using the columbus site?

Columbus site is alot more useful, I am one of the only guys who checks these boards. Home page is Columbus Homepage (http://www.columbusdiscgolf.com) . One of the coTD's for the tourney checks that site everyday.

How's the fly mart at the BHMO?
In the past have there been tournament stamped discs for sale?
I made the mistake of stocking up before heading to Bowling Green so didn't really buy anything there. I don't want to make that mistake in July.

There isn't too much of a fly mart, but the TD's buy a large amount of innova and discraft plastic that they sell during the whole tournament. They also have the "classic" black ghost stamped pro-d challengers that are pretty cool.

There isn't much else going on there is a c/b tier up in northern Ohio. On the firday before the hambrick, there is a random draw doubles that many of the top pros usually play in. Other than that, there isn't much going on.

Sent my money in today (June 26).
Just curious about the tee-pads...concrete or grass or what?
Thanks.
schick
Jun 28 2006, 05:09 PM
Concrete on the original side, but natural tees on the temp course. Pros will play 2 on the original, and 1 on the temp....Ams are vice versa.

Am trying to figure out my footwear choice.
Thanks.

Last year it was pretty hot and humid and tennis shoes were fine. The temp course has decent tee pads as long as it isn't wet. I am playing on wereing a pair of merril's that I use almost every time I step onto a course, so I wouldn't change too much.

Hi All, I just wanted to let everyone know, we are really looking forward to seeing everyone this year, and are working hard to uphold the traditions of this event, which were started by Brent Hambrick, with the Columbus Open events in the early 90's. This being the 10th Anniversary of B.H.M.O. We have invited past champions back, and will be presenting them with a momento of thier accomplishment, at the players party. We have turned up the focus on our charity(The Luekemia and Lymphoma Society of Ohio) in an attempt to put our cause in the forefront. We have some ridiculously cool stuff for our raffle which will run all weekend(all proceeds to charity). Subway(taking lunch orders for both days) donating profit to charity.Dairy Queen(all sale to charity)
Our course are looking awesome, with the help of many, and we just await your arrival. See you at the Hoov. Paul Jay

Was very happy to see my name on the list when I checked it this morning.
All of the planning with respect to charity fundraising sounds like it is going well. I am really looking forward to it!
All I need now is for the T-Storms :mad:to go away so I can get some practice in.

Questions:
1) When will the temp course be open. We're thinking about driving up from Knoxville on Thursday and wanted to know if the course would be up?
2) BHMO is an A-Tier. Does that mean collared shirts for the AMs (Adv and Int)?
Thanks.

(I ask because Bowling Green did NOT enforce that rule)
schick

I am fairly sure that is not a rule....if it is, its never enforced! Only at the USDGC is that rule enforced that I have seen. You should be fine with t-shirts, no halter tops please! :D

Only Majors require collared shirts for Ams. They were not required at BG.
bruce_brakel
Jul 10 2006, 12:03 PM
That is correct, more or less. The dress code is mandatory at majors and NTs, but at the BHMO the ams are playing a similarly named simultaneous A-tier. Only the pros are playing in the NT. The TD can impose the dress code on Ams at his discretion. You should find out from the TD.
Here is the dress code:
8.3.2 The following dress code for all competitors will be enforced at all PDGA National Tour and Major Events. The PDGA also recommends that this dress code be enforced at SuperTour and lower tier events, but this decision lies solely with the Tournament Director:
All players must wear a shirt covering their upper chest area. A well-tailored shirt with a fold-down, mock turtle, v-neck, crew neck, Henley, or zippered collar, and with sleeves covering the part of the arm from the shoulder to the elbow (commonly known as the upper arm), shall be considered acceptable. Women are also allowed to wear sleeveless shirts as designated above.
No tee shirts will be allowed, except for competitors in the Junior and Amateur divisions during preliminary rounds only. Juniors and Amateurs shall not wear tee shirts during semifinal or final rounds. Crew neck or V-neck shirts made of high-performance or high-tech materials, such as Dry-Fit, Cool-Max, and others will be allowed.
Shirts that hang down lower than the bottom hemline on the player's shorts shall be tucked in.
No ripped shirts, shorts, pants will be allowed on the course. This includes unhemmed, torn or cut "vents" at the shirt collar.
No offensive, profane, or obscene slogans or logos shall be allowed on any clothing. Junior players may not wear slogans or logos referring to alcohol or tobacco.
Shoes or other foot coverings must be worn. Players will not be allowed to play in bare feet. Sandals or slides are allowed.
8.3.3 This dress code will be in effect from start to finish at each event, including all tournament rounds. Players who do not make the final cut, but wish to remain on site through the duration of the tournament, will be considered spectators and will not be required to conform to the Tour's dress code.
8.3.4 Any player in breach of the dress code will be warned for the first offense by a Tournament Official or PDGA Marshal, may be required to change attire immediately at the official's discretion, and will under all circumstances be required to change attire prior to the restart of their next round. For any additional offenses, players will be subject to disqualification by the Tournament Director, and may also be subject to suspension from PDGA events at the discretion of the PDGA Commissioner.
The Brent Hambrick is full on the am side and almost full on the pro side. Lots of room left at the Peoria Open, which is under new management this year. Brass cash payouts for the ams. We're hoping to do 150% payouts for amateurs but we are only promising 125%. Depends on attendance.

Paul, the schedule says that check-in is from 12-8 on Friday. I don't think we will be arriving in Columbus until after that. Can we check in the next morning, or is there another option? Are we completely screwed if we don't make check-in by 8pm?
Thanks
edit: OK, I found this on the website "NO SATURDAY CHECK IN WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS TD IS NOTIFIED 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF LATE ARRIVAL."
"Players check in will be held at the course on Friday July14th from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at tournament headquarters, and from 8:30pm to 10:00pm at the BAYMONT INN."
So we can check in until 10pm at the Baymont???
Thanks!!

For everyone traveling here this week. The State is still doing the Northeast Expressway Project on 270 and 161 (the highways that get you to the course). This is the website that has all the ramp closures and other info about the MAJOR construction going on in that area. Please read it.
http://www.dot.state.oh.us/161next/
If you are comming down 270 east from 71 on the north side of columbus the bigest change is that 161 now is only 1 exit instead of two and you need to go east on that exit when it splits. If you are comming from the airport or from the south on 270 you need to be on the far right side of 270 when it divides, you then skip the easton exit and go to the 161 east bound exit. Please alow extra time when traveling as there is a lot of traffic at times in that area and there might be delays. Just a heads up......
