The Lakefront Open will be May 20 - 21. This is the 20th year of the event and may be the last for a few of our holes. Some best known holes from the original Headrick design will be lost soon so if you want to play them one more time this is your chance.

How many folks would use Pay Pal if we set it up for entry fees? Let us know
Thanks

Looks like we will still play original holes one last time, though we will have to deal with construction left of hole 5 (The Wall Hole) and parking issues.
PLEASE pre register. The building we have used for years will likely be torn down just before the event, so sign - up will be affected. Especially if it is rainy.
Thanks to David & Malcolm Hirsch from Ga. for the first entries. Pre registrants will get best first round tee assignments.

Tim is still waiting for his Discussion Board code number, but tells me that he is expecting about 100 folks.
Hope you will make the trip, looks like good weather for most all weekend.
For some reason the picture of our hotstamp has been removed from the earlier post. http://lakefrontdiscgolf.com/images/lakefront06_Stamp.jpg

My mistake on the logo.
It is just the Firefox browser that is not showing it, Internet Explorer & Netscape browsers are showing OK.
Vanessa I founded the event & worked it for 20 years but not played. And finding the hand typed records from # 1 will be an unlikely feat.
If you remember that first year I named the event Lakefront Open the state had drained the reservoir for dam repairs and there was only a mud flat!!
Unless someone like Ralph Beckman, Dave Greenwell or Johnny Sias shows up, you may be about the only one because other than local Vic Vicars, and maybe if Bobby Ellis was passing through town all of the originals have disappeared.
Talked to Tim a few minutes ago and thanks to him & Chuck Lewis + the best mowing job by the park staff in many years the course is in spectacular condition despite the construction that will take some holes immediately after the event.
Weather still looks great for the weekend, 30% chance of isolated thundershowers Sunday afternoon but all clear for Saturday & most of Sunday.

Such a pack rat. I found this:

with this:

(Don't do the math or you'll see 2006 is the 1st anniversary of the 20th annual event, aah hem, did not spot that until I found this old record [definitive proof I've been at this far too long] good thing I live on a farm... not much trouble putting me out to pasture). I'm positive the 20th Cross State Doubles is in 2006 because I have a shirt from 1991 for the 5th annual, obviously must have started the Lakefront a year earlier.
Vanessa, do you remember who you beat? You must have been a child prodigy back then young lady.

I was running around in the woods doing orienteering instead of disc golf until 1989. :)

No ratings needed for this event in 1986! Johnny Sias and I both won, and we were rated #1 that year ... :o
Good work on keeping the old Disc Golf News, Jon. I had actually thought about calling Rick to see if he could dig up a copy! Coleman remembers the mud flats, and the boats stuck out in the middle. I'd forgotten them, but that visual reference reminded me.
I don't remember who I played with in '86, but I recall a local girl named "Yo" ... ? Or it could have been someone out of Atlanta or Charlotte ... I seem to remember Patti Kunkle being there occasionally, maybe Jenny ?? I think Lynne (now Warren, then Rothstein) and Rick (still Rothstein) came at least one year back in the 80's.
I do remember that we always enjoyed our trips to Kingsport - and we're looking forward to this weekend! (Things are different these days though - we can't leave Charleston until after our youngest finishes the 8th grade State Algebra Exam that determines his placement in math classes for the next four years - no pressure Connor, you need to ace this exam so you'll be in honors/AP math in high school and can grow up to understand the math behind your rating, but you need to finish really quickly because we are itching to get out of town and play some today !!)

The above publication was not Disc Golf World News. Rick was PDGA Communications Director for the above issue which included a picture of Johnny's 3 plus second spinning near ace at the Charlotte worlds which he won. My first copy of DGWN was Spring of 1988 and it is Volume 2 Number 1. So DGWN V. 1 # 1 must coincide with this Disc Golf News which was published by PDGA itself.
It could have been Jenny that you beat in '86 because Jim Akins was a big supporter of our early events at Warrior's so that would make sense, Yolanda was not on the scene yet and I don't think it was Patti or Lynne.
Good luck Connor, maybe you can help me do the math for next year's event!!
You guys going to camp? The campground at Warrior's is great, hundreds of entrants over the years come since they know they can camp just up the hill from the course.

Thanks to everyone attending our event this year.
Congratulations to TD Tim Barr for winning Pro Open after running the event (and not having warm - up time before tee offs). Also thanks for all the hours you spent getting the course in perfect shape, you would be the first to point out that Chuck Lewis was with you every bit of the way, I would be the first to say old folks like me and the young bucks alike did not do enough to help. After countless hours of running the weed trimmer it's amazing your hands could control a putt at all.
Congrats to Jerry Harmon for defending his Pro Masters victory.
Congrats to Tony Losh, you lapped the field in Advanced ... 'bout time to move up!? Cameron, why didn't you defend??? You've been MIA .
If anyone in the Nashville area can call Jason Speakman let him know he tied for 8th in Intermediate and left before awards, we have 7 discs for him.
Until the Cross State Doubles in October ....

Been tooo busy with work lately. Anyone know where I can find a new jod that allows me to play more? :DI've prob played 4-5 rounds in the last 4-5 months. I may as well dropped off my donation to Tim directly :DI would of felt bad playing ADV being that I won it last year and I haven't played enough lately to even come close to competing in Open.
I DID stop by and help Tim add scores after RD1 on Saturday though. I also dropped off a couple of CTP's, who won them? I'm hoping to travel to Knoxville for next Saturdays tourney. See ya soon.
