Well, if that is the best you can come up with, then ok. I will try in the future not to use words with more than five letters.

No man. Just like the TeeWrecks, I bet they flip like a valk. :D
Did you know if you have a left to right fairway you can actually throw a predator and it will hyzer around the world and end up where a normal turnover would have?
That's just what I've heard.
P.S. I am really looking forward to this firebird. I've had my old standby ProLine for a long time, she's getting old and tired.

I tested a 175 yellow this weekend.
into a mild headwind 15-20 mph this disc is very stable but not as overstable as a champion FB, I'd compare it to the candy proline run of firebirds. If thrown straight it will stay straight then hyzer towards the end of its flight, which is great now i don't have to hunt those prolines down.
widiscgolf
Apr 03 2006, 11:40 AM
Prolines? Like the proline that was the same as todays champion are you talking about?
WakandaRat
Apr 03 2006, 11:42 AM
I believe thats what he means, the champion Pro line from about 2 or 3 years ago. which is now call just champion
If so thats sweet!!!

I think the pro line flies a little longer then the champion. If the star is like the pro line then awesome.

Apr 03 2006, 04:57 PM
when i say proline, I'm talking about the post CE pre Champion, i've found that they're just a little less stable than the new Champion FB.
no, but it is the same, they just started stamping them different.
Like the STAR Orc is the Same Disc as the Special Blend Orc is a better comparison.
They just changed the name of the plastic

Why does every thread turn into the same discussion?

because molds/plastics/stamps are always changing or varying

Why would I say throw and E-Spirit? I'm trying to win out there, why would i encourage behavior that would challenge that. throw an E-Spirit! Trust me I already knew it's the pre Champion. I just wanted to make clear he wasn't talking about the recent Pro Firebird FL mold.

I'm loving the feel of my new Star Firebird and I can't wait to get out and throw it. Anyone else think it feels much softer and thinner in the flight plate than other Star discs??
I thought I read that these were the FX mold, but I keep hearing they fly more like an FL. Anyone know for sure?
cgflesner
Apr 03 2006, 10:02 PM
They don't fly like an FL in my opinion.
I tried out one this weekend and it was just as overstable as my champion FX, which is just a couple of months old.

I'll know tomorrow. I no expert but the Firebird FX mold is my puppy. I have been snapping them for 5 years. Have 2 in the bag and 4 new ones at home. I just got the Star FX today and yes I love the feel and yes they look pretty darn close the the original CE FX. I know I am looking at both right now.
I would say they have to be the same. I'll know more tomorrow at lunch if the weather is nice.

DX Firebird- FX Type Mold
CE Firebird FL- FL Type Mold
CE Firebird F - FL Type Mold
CE Firebird FX - FX Type Mold
ProLine(NowChampion) Firebird- FX Type Mold
Champion Firebird FB- FX Type Mold
Pro Firebird - FL Type Mold
Star Firebird FX - FX Type Mold
It's not that hard people. HEHE :D
ALSO the Star Firebird FX disc is the more stable Firebird. I believe Dave saying that the Star Firebird FL (less-stable) will get made sometime down the road.

Apr 04 2006, 11:26 AM
Don't forget that alot of the last run of CE Firebirds got out of the factory with just an F on the bottom. And those were definitely FX.
Just feel under the nose of the disc!
- bead + concave = FX
- no bead + smooth (flat, as opposed to concave) = FL
That's it.

I'll just have to stick with my coveted 150g gummy Champion FBs until I can twist Dave's arm (ear?) enough to run 150-class STAR FXs. 150 drivers feel SOOO good in my hand, so it's nice to have a true wind-beater in 150-class.

Is it my imagination or do STAR discs get more and more grippy as they get older... I have a Teebird from when they first came out.
It's white and when I got it, it was pretty slippery... now that I've played with it for a while... it's pretty grippy.
just an observation :D
the_beastmaster
Apr 04 2006, 11:36 PM
Yeah, Dave D. said a while back that the Star plastic seemed to have better grip the more it was used. I've noticed that they almost feel grippier to me when they're wet, and the more I wash them with soap and water the better they feel, too.
Back on to Firebirds, I love mine so far. Only a handful of throws with it, but it flies great and I love the softer plastic compared to the stiff Champ FXs.

Apr 05 2006, 12:08 AM
Jaymo.. Just like NIGHSHIFT Orcs and SB discs STar discs will get grippier as they get dirty and wear in.... The NIghtshift orcs when beat in got tacky almost to the point of being sticky.
I took the star Teebirds out of my bag because I honestly don't like them right now, but I can't wait to see how grippy my Starwinder will get this summer.

It's an excellent disc. I know I did the right thing when I dumped my CE Firebirds on Ebay last month.
