I posted this under the new thread for approved discs but got no responses so here it goes again.

I was wondering why the buzz GT is not on the approved list. On that same subject the thumbtrac birde is not on the approved list as well as the Teebird-L, Firebird-L, Starefire-L, Eagle-L, Beast-L. All of these discs have a mold change which to me implies new approval???

Shawn,
I think you're right for the Thumbtrack Birdie and Buzz-GT, but not for the L variants.

http://pdga.com/documents/tech_standards/PDGATechStandards.pdf

"(1) Mold, Material or Production Technique Changes - If there are changes in a mold that has been producing an approved disc, the discs produced by the changed mold may have to be retested for approval. Not all such changes require approval. Retesting is only required if a mold includes the addition or removal of a new structural feature (e.g., bead, step edge, and Thumb Trac), or results in a measurement that appears to potentially violate any of the technical standards."

All of the "L" discs have a new stripper ring which removes a small bead or smooths out a concave on the wing. Dunipace is always reffering to the "L" discs as the "L -mold".

What about the ODESSY from Gateway? I just saw one of these midrange discs last night with the clear middle, and I must say that is a cool looking disc.

My young protege's are going to BG and was hoping to use them.
