#1 Lost Disc Stroke and Distance - I think that this rule should be up to the TD, because the course dictates where this rule is practical or not for the tournament being played.
Example: The Canyon Brooksville, FL you tee off from 100-150' above the fairway and the rough gets ugly to go back up or to throw a provisional each time would slow things down to the point of tournament madness!
#2 2 Meters above playing Surface - I think if the PDGA reviews this years tournaments that the 2 Meters Rule has been in effect in almost all tournaments - So why make it optional?
#3 Make the Jump Putt illegal - The Jump putt is often done incorrectly and is almost impossible to catch the Foot Fault!
In order for it to be correct by the PDGA rules: a legal stance and throw - one point must be in contact with the playing surface with in 10 cm of your marker Disc at the time the Disc is released!
I have seen several people spring into the air and then release the Disc, but unless you have digital video camera to catch it. it's almost impossible to see.
Example: go to www.discgolftv.com (http://www.discgolftv.com) watch the video clip of Ken Climo in the memorial putting. At the bottom right of the screen is a time counter the foot fault putt is right at 1:28-1:29. When you first watch it it looks like a good putt! But, pause it and Ken foot faults! He is in the air at time of release! Busted catch on tape! And I hear he's a rules stickler, Ha!
Whats everyone else think?

i disagree on the first two.
#1-- if there are holes or areas where lost discs are common, create drop zones. the "throw from where you last saw it" rule is vague and inconsistent.
#2-- where i play, it's the opposite. the 2m rule has been optional ever since making it optional was optional. except for one course (seneca) where it will always be in effect. i'm glad to see that rule go.

While I agree that would be an improvement, it's not allowed under the current rules to deal with lost discs unless you get permission from the Competition Director.
In our last event here I went and used yellow marking tape to mark off approx. 2000 feet of marsh that runs the length of the course down one side to eliminate having to use the Lost Disc Rule. It worked out well but I had atleast 5 people during the rounds come running up to me (no telling how many ran up to the TD) to get a correct ruling when they threw into it and couldnt find their disc. I imagine some people incorrectly ruled on it but I never heard of any.

Was the marsh declared OB or casual?

OB. It's a marsh where discs and people go in, but don't come out. :)
What he ^^^ said :)
Tony, they actually almost fully cleared the marsh out there now and built a 15 foot tall levee in its place. Should be some interesting designs going out there when the levee has settled and grass starts to grow on it.

This has hardly been my experience. I have played numerous events this year, and it has been 50/50.

It will be a little difficult to ban jump putts until it is easy for ALL groups to measure 10 meters on each hole.
Only suggestion that i can come up with is have a thin rope/string attached to the base of each basket.
It hasn't affected me yet, but I don't think the Distance/Throw penalty is too hot. But I do agree the "last place seen" is not the best way either.
If we are going to do away with those 3 words, then shouldn't we get rid of them in the IB/OB part of the rules? If a player throws a disc OB, one option is to throw his next shot from the last place IB determined by the group. This is kinda easy for some holes, but difficult for others.
And the rules provide flexibility so the TD has the option to disallow that. A smart TD might provide a DZ and disallow the "last crossed" option when it could be questionable.

Just a question about making jump putts illegal.
How would you go about doing that? what would the rule be? A jump putt is someone outside of 10m moving past their mark after releasing the disc. Are you saying we should eliminate the follow through from disc golf?

That crossed my mind as well.
I think you could word it in a manner that would still allow step throughs after fairway shots.
Something like: " The player must maintain at least one supporting point in contact with the playing surface throughout the execution of his shot".
I know of very few players who leave the ground playing a fairway shot. The leaving the ground usually occurs after their fairway shot goes in the hole. (followed by a fist pump and high five).

It is not unusual for me to not have any supporting points in contact with the playing surface as I start my follow thru on full strength drives. Moreso than most jump putters.

Or how about everyone just call the footfaults that occur on the tee, fairway, if a person is stepping on their mini when putting, and give people the benifet of the doubt on jump putts. I DO NOT leave the ground until I have released the disc so why should I be penalized? The majority of JPers do not footfault and if you see an obvious rules infraction it should be called.

Scooter's interesting footwork on his "walk-up" on jump putts is worth keeping jump putts around!

I played a round with a guy who had this funny looking little jump putt. It was a hop straight up. He was sort of straddle putting and outside 40 plus feet. He just jumped up and threw a spin putt. I had a hard time not laughing. I wouldn't make it against the rules but I bet it cost me a stroke while I was laughing to myself.
