yes it's true!!!!
4th out of 5 players in her first pdga sanctioned singles event of her career...in the intermediate women's division on a hilly, wooded, windblown course....i'm VERY proud!
she shot well even with me as her caddy/coach/dad
she got 25 bucks in payout and a nice players pack of star valk, custom stamped disc and innova fly dry towel...at a one day C-tier
better payout and players pack than i ever got to have had running tournaments, but then again i never had the city throw in lots of money for an event...like these guys had...i always had to get it on my own :p

future world champion LORELEI JOHNSON #13697
Way to be an overbearing dad that puts the pressure on.
quite the opposite!
i let her play when she wants to,hence why she is already 9 before playing her first singles event...
i think that if she continues to play and enjoys the sport she WILL be a champion one day...
hell in 10 total days of skiing over 3 years she already skis blue-black runs at winter park and has skied parsenne bowl 5 times from the top all the way to base lodging(without falling)...
i think she can do whatever she wants when she puts her mind to it and i consider it being ahead of the curve(not overbearing)when i say she'll be a future world champ...
maybe you would be happier if i said she would be a future trailer park trash or pole dancer????
either you don't have kids or were never one yourself because otherwise you would be ALWAYS wishing the best for them
just my opinion,

Don't get mad at the strippers. Just because they wouldn't honor your 50 cent off coupon ain't no reason to bash em.
Strippers are a valuable asset to the community.

Paid that division pretty deep!! Of course Keith is not telling you that the 5th girl dropped out and never even played the second round!!
Just wish her "caddy" would let her play her own "way" and not give her advise on EVERY throw.
Kind of hard to get anything going when you are the group behind them and had to wait 8 - 9 minutes on every hole. Makes for a long afternoon. :(
Not all her fault though TD should of never put a fivesome of women all on the same hole.

Maybe as your children grow, you would like everyone to minimize their accomplishments.

II told SuperGirl that there was another young gun out there and her name is Lorelie Johnson. She thought that was great! She really likes it when she hears about other young girls playing disc golf. She keeps trying to get her friends to play, so that there will be more female disc golfers. Maybe one day Lorelei and Nicole will get to play each other. Is Lorelei going to Am Worlds this summer?
SuperGirl's finger is 100% healed. She played in the FlynHighDiscGolf.com Pecan Park Open this past weekend and finished 4th in the Rec Women's division out of 9 players (only 7 played all 4 rounds). She finished 6 strokes out of 1st place. She also had her 2 highest rated rounds ever. Her second round had an unofficial rating of 776 and was the best score of all the rec women in that round. Her 3rd round had an unofficial rating of 750 and was tied for the best score of all the rec women in that round. So I think I can officially say that her finger is 100% healed.
Thanks........Rick

My 14 year old daughter won 1st place Rec. Women at Twin Parks "Hill Country Huck Fest" but, was the only one to enter and she really plays it down because of that fact. Maybe she should start playing Intermediate? I asked her if she wanted to play COTO but, she says she "doesn't like playing tournaments. Any suggestions?

no am worlds for lorelei rick...she will play mixed doubles with me at pro worlds in augusta though..
great news on supergirls finger AND accomplishments at the ppo!!
lorelei will get better as she plays more and develops the confidence that she shows when making good throws or rollers
she was throwing rollers on the football field yesterday that went where she needed them to about 75% of the time, and when she develops the TIMING to her releases in her air shots she'll be fine....
she enjoys playing when SHE wants to, which unfortunately for me isn't often enough to really help her gain consisitency in her shots....
which of course is the chicken and egg part...she won't get better without more practice and she won't practice enough to get better :p
maybe we'll get a chance to see you guys at the t-10 finale this year!

that doesn't diminish lorelei's accomplishment in my eyes
Just wish her "caddy" would let her play her own "way" and not give her advise on EVERY throw.
i guess you just threw it where the basket was the first time you played a tournament at 9 years old
Kind of hard to get anything going when you are the group behind them and had to wait 8 - 9 minutes on every hole. Makes for a long afternoon. :(
of course i could say that mike is not telling anyone that the SUPER NICE TD let in 18 players(including said complainer-who won by the way - even though he wouldn't have been able to play on the day of the event) after "supposedly" capping the field at 72 players which left 5 somes for all(or that the td started the women the first round on a long hole with the masters group behind them on a birdie hole)
it is stunning that after i suggusted that he start the ladies on 18 in the second round and there was just the 4 of them that NO ONE WAITED on them the second round and they even waited on the lead open group on 2 separate occasions
Not all her fault though TD should of never put a fivesome of women all on the same hole.
i don't think he will ever again [QUOTE]
the thing i'm really most dissapointed in though mike is that we met yesterday for the first time, you knew who i was and what you had posted 2 days earlier(which i saw last night for the first time)and you never said anything to me face to face about it...
i'm a player and i also don't like the way things go sometimes at events(especially my own play :D)
i spoke with speedy on the girls very first hole at the event and told him i was sorry the way things were going to go...but that sometimes happens with events where td's don't stick to their guns...the 72 others who followed the td's original deadline suffer for the few inconsiderate players who think they don't NEED to pre-register for a popular event!

Keith,
If you really want to know why I did not say anything to you the other day it was because I was kinda disappointed in the way I posted before thinking.
Your daughter is only 9 and is "learning" how to be a tournament player...Good for her. I commend her on her finish.
I understand that all of us had to learn at one time. I should learn to be more patient. (guess I am just getting cranky in my old age). I will apologize to your daughter if she was offended with my out-of-line comments next time I see her. Please do not think all Georgia golfers are this way. (most of the time I am pretty easy to get along with).
Again please accept my apology, I really think it is great that your 9 year old daughter is playing. I have a 6 year old son that I wish was interested in the game so I could show him what a blast this game is. Kinda hard to take him with me to play "casual" golf because of some of the "going ons" and language you encounter on the course.
Please if you have a "beef" with me do not think all us Georgia boys are as rude.
Later,
Mike D

mike d...
accepted and forgotten....
lorelei not playing more in casual and tournament play is for the same reasons that most parents don't take their kids to the course...i lived in miami and tucson before moving here and i'm glad there are LOTS of different courses within an hour of me...so i'm sure i can find some that are "kid" friendly...
i figured at a city course with the city guy being td that the "goings on" would be low or gone at that event and i was correct in that account...
seeing all the guys and gals in georgia that are working towards running things in the area, making new courses, and fixing up older ones i have been slowly getting involved behind the scenes in helping out in some of their endevours and giving support....
i am glad to know some of the fine georgia golfers in the area, and have been around long enough to know how to spot the "others" and when all is said and done we are mostly all out there for the love of the game...
see you around on the courses...

tell kelsey that lorelei hopes to play in the women's championships and meet her one day!
(lorelei stayed within 2&1/2 throws per hole average over 18 holes, both rounds and tied or beat the girls on 2 different holes during the day which she was VERY proud of)
baby steps!
