I have a couple of discs that I would like to get sharpie off of and it doesn't seem to want to come off. I have tried nail polish remover and it will take some of it off but still leaves a light stain. Has anybody figured out how to get sharpie off of discs????

You're probably asking the wrong people.. Most folks who want thier discs back mark them sharpie right? Just put a line through the name if the disc was given to you or you can't find the rightful owner.

Yes, but the other day i was a Play It Again Sports and they had a used disc i wanted but i didnt buy it because someone drew this really ugly black thing on the top so i didnt buy it. Thats why i would like to find something that would take it off.

i use rubbing alcohol to remove it. Try it and it will usually get I would say almost all of it. But if its real thick and heavy on the plastic it may not come out at all.

i like to draw a line thru the old name with an arrow pointing to the new one (mine) :D it is sort of a history of who has owned the disc and in what order :D

I like to take Sharpie off if I want to trade or sell a disc. I hate when people assume you're only trying to remove it if you found/stole a disc or something.

Anyway, I've found that Goof Off (or anything with acetone basically) works fairly well, although it doesn't get all of it. It usually leaves the marker fairly faint, but on darker color discs you can't see it at all. For a huge blacked our area I'd say it might not work all that well, you're probably stuck with what you got. Never undertsood people drawing all crazy on discs, maybe it's just me that likes the clean and crisp look.

The best thing I have used is Goof Off, it lightens sharpees or completely removes hotstamps.

Make sure you use the Goof Off outside. That stuff really stinks!

If the ink has gotten into the plastic (that will happen especially with DX) you won't be able to get it all off.

I like using it in the bathroom with the doors closed and towel covering the gap between the floor............................................u h, what was I talking about?

Some one told me to try oven cleaner. But I have a self cleaning oven so I thought it was best not to heat the disc to 600 degrees.

It really isn't worth the hassle. I had a friend dye a disc for me cause I was unable to find the owner. Some don't hold the real thin sharpies at all. Some just fade. I bought a First Run Buzz when I had just started playing that had a name on it. The name just faded away to nothing. I like a fool removed the stamp. I have a Purple Crush with someone else's name on it. I can't get his off or get mine to stick. Lost it twice and he gave it back.

My husband was using Goof Off this weekend to remove some paint from the woodwork from the previous owners slob job. The smell gets a little intense. :p

Funny, the thing that removes ink smells like the biggest "Marks Alot" marker ever made. Reminds me of grade school back in the '60s when solvents were REAL solvents!

If you paint on clear nail polish it will pick up the ink, then wait for it to dry and chip it off. But like has been said, if it's deep in the plastic you'll never get it all, just dye it.

Goo-Gone works and it doesn't smell bad you just gotta scrub the #$*&$! outof it. maybe a degreaser would work like simple green (the #$*&$!!). i dunno if it would though. i do gotta say i like that history of the disc idea its kinda cool.
