If there were awards for disc golf, Kinston would win the following from 2005.
1. Most improved course.
2. Best new club.
3. the " We took a great course and made it even better" award
4. Most man hours put in on a course.
Can't wait to get back to kinston and play some golf!

where is 10's long pin?
Joseph
Apr 16 2006, 11:51 PM
I haven't measured it yet, but is about 15-20 deeper and left about 60-75 feet into the open area but with plenty of space around the pin to put. This new placement, along with the fairway designation on ten ( will be done within the next two weeks ) should help to make ten more challenging and will encourage a more thoughtful shot instead of grip and rip.
MTL21676
Apr 17 2006, 12:01 AM
i like that - it was a tough par 3 before now that not many ppl could reach - this makes it a par 4 where if ur tee shot goes in early, good luck
Joseph
Apr 17 2006, 12:14 AM
The new placement is one thing, but the fairway designation will add some placement to the shot. We are closing off the first driveway closest to the pin and "post and chaining" from the drive to the back tee. A clear and definitive OB.

I thought it was an easy par 3 (wide open 402) feet) and a bonus deuce (this depends on division I know), now I can see it being a challenging par 3 (with the pin pushed back and left with the added OB) and a sick 2, but I can not see it being a par 4 (just my opinion)
Maybe I am not understanding the writers statement since it is written in past and present tense at the same time...(I really need a MTL to English dictionary)

The OB questions have been filing in and I am working hard to address them. Some have suggested that the surrounded by water clause be used as much as possible, however, that does not always render the best reseult when helping a group or individual to determine a lie and that also slows down play. If you have an opinion, I would love to hear it and I will repect it. Don't be surprised though if you see rope in some of those quesitonable places in order to make things clear and to hopefully make the tournament a more enjoyable experience.

Is it really necessary to have posts like these about any female golfers. We have a hard enough time getting women to play the sport as it is and these comments do not help. Please think before you post. Yes women read this discussion board and comments like these likely do not encourage them to come out and play the sport. Think about it from the woman's point of view. Would you come into a sport and have comments like these about you and still want to play the sport.
I hope that those making comments do not treat their girlfriends or wives with the respect they have shown monica on this thread.

I know no one was trying to intentionally hurt Monica's feelings and I know that it will be dropped. Sometimes we ( guys ) say things before we think. I am hopeful that we will have some lady disc golfers playing the King's Cup. I have made appeals to several women and have sent an invitation to the Raleigh Area Womens Disc Golf Club. So say your sorry, think, then type, and somebody needs to pay Monica's entry fee........

Looks like the fairway markers and chain for hole ten may become a reality this week. Hopefully it will be completed by this weekend. Pink string has also started to appear on the course as well.....stay away from the creek. Thanks for all the registrations that keep steadily coming in. We will have you posted as soon as possible. We have to place the shirt order by THURSDAY of this week. If you are playing and want a shirt that fits it would be wise to get your registrations in before THURSDAY, otherwise we wil do the best we can with overages. Stay tuned.........GI JOE out.

There is no new OB, just cleared it up a little. It will be layed out more to the intention of Harold Duval's design. String and beyond in cases where there needed to be clarification. Other than that it will be water and beyond as would be the case for 1,3 7, 12. Nothing to be scared of, I know you're not scared Millsie.......

Notice the three alt pins and distances and the mandatory and OB clarifications. Hope this helps make the weekend more enjoyable for you. As of today the alt pins are in the day one position.

What a day for nature. I saw 4 snakes (one on hole 1, a larger garter hanging in the bushes), another on hole 1 (another garter) and 2 on hole 10. The cool thing of hole 10 it was a black racer eating a garter snake. And for ID purposes, check out any of these sites to make a positive identification of snakes found in this area.
Snake ID (http://www.bio.davidson.edu/projects/herpcons/herps_of_NC/snakes/snakes.html)
Snake ID (http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/gaston/Pests/reptiles/snakepix3.html)
Just remember, not every snake you see is always a famous "copperhead" or "cottonmouth". And remember the shape of the head (triangular) does not always mean it is venonmous or nonvenomous. The best way not to run into a suprise is to stay on the fairway

Thanks to everyone for helping to make The King's Cup a huge success. I had a blast! I have so much more appreciation now for anyone that has ever been and Tournament Director. I couldn't begin to thank everyone by name that helped to make this event run so smoothly. I do appreciate all the words of advice, support, and encouragement that I received from so many of you. I certainly feel that friendships were strengthened and new ones were created. With 82 players, press coverage in two local papers, three TV broadcast (one local broadcast on the way), great sponsors, and beautiful weather, Kinston Disc Golf is back on the map. Thanks again for rewarding our hard work with your attendance and great play. I am already looking forward to the next King's Cup B Tier! Take good care and keep'em flying! :)

Joe & Crew,
You guys did a phenomenal job! It was not just a disc golf event it was a "community event" with all of the people involved, media coverage, recruiting a Junior's division, Parks and Rec. partnership and the added sponsorships, just to name a few. The course was immaculate, the hospitality was awesome, the golf was challenging, the group was great the weather was nice and fun was had by all. Wow, you guys have a lot to live up to in order to top it next year but I have no doubt you will.
Take your left hand out in front of you, palm up, put your right elbow in your palm, raise right hand to your left shoulder and give yourself a great BIG pat on the back. Congratulations and keep up the fantastic work!
