Upon checking it seems my memory is SHOT :p
It seems we did play the 2 short 18's a few years back.
It would be nice to play just 3 rounds on the "Champ 18"
Its a much better layout, IMO :D

Your memory is shot worse than you think! :o
Golden State Classic has always been two shotgun start rounds on the LONG layout on Friday, hence the 105 player limit of fivesomes plus 3 ghost cards.
U.S. Masters was a lot more old fart friendly with two shotgun start rounds on the much shorter dual-18 SoCal Championships layout. Plus it would hold 144 players in foursomes.
I don't remember if U.S. Masters even sold out last year, so maybe we can keep the four round format for that one.

so i'm flying cross country for 18 LESS holes of golf??
the great thing about gsc was the 4(FOUR)rounds of the best course....tested your skills AND stamina...
please tim i'm begging to leave gsc the way it was and i won't ever complain again about the 2 short course rounds of the us masters!

This tournament can hold about 175 players since the two rounds of shotgun start golf on Friday were changed to one round of staggered start. I don't think this tourney will fill, even though it should.
Mike Williams was telling me that the city of La Mirada is annexing part of the park to put in a dinky little city owned water park, so this might be the last year of the current configuration. I'm sure Dunipace will be able to design an equally challenging course on whatever is available next year, but if anyone is on the fence about playing this year they should go ahead and do it just to be sure they get a shot at the current fantastic layout.

Having been a recent victim of identity theft, I know they could do serious damage. Round 2 scores are up. We didn't get the cable for the cell phone modem so I don't know if we'll be able to post anything else until tomorrow night.
110 players and a $15k+ purse. We have some 52-inch plasma displays for showing the leaderboard, which is is kind of cool. No frisbee dog championships, but there is a frisbee dog show guy set up who is putting on performances. There's a beer garden inside the fences of the upper tennis courts so you can relax with a cold one and get a fantastic view of the long hole 18, which is normal 26-27 combined.
Micah shot a blistering 52 today and is in the lead by 2 over Feldburg. A 52 on this layout is just sick. Des is up by 8 over Juliana, with Burl and Kathy Manly 2 and 3 more back.

Frisbee Festival atmosphere very strongly in the air all weekend. Great tournament in SoCal by one of our great disc golf folks, Tim Selinski and staff. Read all about it in the Yeti Road Report on ZoneDriven.com later this week.
With Brinster pushing hard from the second card and Micah not able to repeat his steller round the day before, Feldberg steps up to a twenty foot putt into a headwind. Rico has just parked his upshot and will be tied with Dave and Steve if the Borg misses. Having placed second at the Golden State for five years in a row Dave decides its time for a win and so it was.
Des dominates and plays the course close to par all weekend.
Peter Shive goes down locking horns with a new spring chicken John Kirkland in the division.

Yeti, I'll see you in Santa Cruz. And you better be wearing your Twisted Flyer attire!! :D
Any way, Mr. Neal made an announcement, apologizing for the mix-up with the NT-GSC/Motherlode tournies being held on the same weekend. He said it wouldn't happen again. We were all touched emotionally!!!
And since there isn't a Motherlode thread, Chris Adiego won his first pro open tourney (make that any tourney of any kind first victory!!). Harold Hampton hung on for his victory in Masters. Travers(Gandolf) won his own tourney and Nancy Hendricks and Leslie nee Harris battled it out in Womens and I don't know who won.
We actually had a couple guys from SoCal!!

unbelievable post.
Come on, Rhett. Don't be angry. :D I wanted to go to the NT, and so did a few others. I also wanted to boycott the oil companies. I just calculated $90 :mad:for gas only to get down to SoCal and back. That's just ridiculous. I'm pretty sure it's going to be trendy for players not travelling as much due to gas prices.

nice pictures jay!!!
i just want to say thanks again to tim selinske for what he has done to try to make the 2 large socal tournaments of the year at lama(yes i know socal champs are at lama also but the are not nt or majors)the best things going...
it is a shame that golden state and us masters aren't attended as a must stop for everyone,no matter what else is going on....
i know that i personally have travelled from florida, arizona and now georgia to play in these events, and i wish others felt to make these can't miss events like pawpaw, masters cup, memorial, and other events on the schedule
that players "HAVE TO BE AT!"
i also wish to thank tim for allowing me to be the co-td this year and it was a pleasure to put in the time to make sure that everyone had the best time they wanted to have...
it was great to play well on sunday and know that friday and saturday were just practice rounds :D
too bad they counted towards my total score :p

i also wish to personally apologize to russel shelton for the end of saturday's round...as he could see on sunday,i can play quietly even when things are going badly and i shall endevor to do that at ALL times in the future!
i also wish to thank everyone who bought raffle tickets to help the pituitary network and thank pioneer, triangle distributing, the person responsible for getting all the basketball gear, and last but not least INNOVA for donating all the great prizes that were raffled off....40 tickets were drawn with prize packs from $30-$400 dollars(including 3 tivo/dvr's from pioneer!!!)
to mike williams, all the socal guys that helped and MR.RHETT STROH-------thanks for ALL YOUR HELP in making my job a little easier....
till next time,be safe and i'll see you again soon

Good to see you finally posted, Keith. Nice job on co-TDing and keeping things moving at the GSC.
I was afraid you were never going to post again after losing to me in total score and two out of three rounds, including the one head-to-head round where we were on the same card. :)
Yes, I took two DBoDs from Keith and only had to give him one of them back.
Have a great time at USDGC, Keith! :D

needed to spend time with lorelei after not seeing her for a few days and now with catching up with work and home stuff i hope to be on every day/couple of days instead of every 5 days like the last 2 weeks :p
you played solid golf and i played decent for one round...
the difference between us is you play for fun and competition and i play without fun(and most times)without competition except for my own brain....which beats me more times than i beat it
as homer simpson would say....
stupid brain....always doing the wrong things :D
5 more chances left this year for me to beat my brain at disc golf, and i'm going to give it a good shot!
