Here's a brief snippet of what competitors can expect at the beautiful and challenging Moraine State Park course.
Below is Hole #2 at Moraine State Park outside of Pittsburgh, PA (courtesy of Jerry Gotcher)
Below is a reverse view of this wonderful par four hole. The tee is located behind the second (farther tree) in the middle of the fairway. While the base of the hill can be reached, accuracy is more important than length. A long drive that misses the fairway will not give you an opportunity to make the approach for the birdie three, while a shorter drive in the middle does allow you that opportunity. An added challenge is that the narrow drainage ditch just before the polehole is OB!

Below is the signature hole#15. After emerging from the woods, an awesome expanse opens up in front of you of Lake Arthur and the Rt. 422 bridge crossing.
From the blue tee, the hole is a pro par four, listed at 852 feet, with significant elevation drop the whole way. A long but safe 425' drive is needed to reach the landing zone, which is bordered by an OB road on the left and small trees on the right. A headwind often makes disc selection critical.

From the landing area, you throw another crush of equal length down to the polehole situated just in front of the lake. You can fire over the small trees on the right, or take the direct route right at the polehole, which can be spotted in the small dirt circle below.

Here's another image of Lakeview's hole 15. Photo was taken approximately 400' from the A-pin (which is barely visible in the distance).

B and C pins still need a lot of clearing, but we should have those greens cleaned up in time for the PFDO in June. Ideally, we would like to use C-pin for the PFDO...

Great job raising $300+ for the Ironwood Open this weekend Jerry!!!!!! It was a great time even though I played horribly. I went out the next day with my girlfriend and managed a 67 from the Golds!!! I was deadly accurate yesterday.....what the heck is going on with my game??

The roller is a popular tee shot due to the low ceiling surrounding the wooded green.

Yes...it was a great weekend. Congrats to Doug and Brad for their excellent play, especially considering they played the Gold course blind and shot par! Special mention should be made regarding pro open player Derek Reid...he was the only player in the field to score an eagle...and he scored two of them during the second round (holes 10 & 16, white tees)!

A three on hole#16 from any tee position to any basket position is quite an accomplishment!
Where was the basket position on hole#10? From the white tee to the short pin position, one could argue that it's not a pro par four. Especially since big arms can just throw a sky hyzer over everything.

Hole 10 was in the c-pin which is the most distant pin placement. Derek's drive hyzered over the tree tops, landing safely around the bend. His uphill approach shot nailed the chains and fell into the bucket! We were on the green of hole 11 (across the roadway) when we heard an elated yell. As windy as it was that day, I jokingly remarked that somebody must have saved par...

Then that is certainly an eagle! Nailing your approach shot: one of the most exciting shots in disc golf.

What a great Tournament. I think it may be interesting to try and make it a two day event with the fina :D:Dl day at Moraine for a gold tee round in the morning and a final safari 9. 1 to 12's basket, 13 to 14's basket, 15 gold to 15c basket, 16 to 2s basket, 4 to 5's basket, 6 gold tee to c pin, 7 to 8's basket, 9 to 10's basket, 11 to 1's basket.

well #$*&$!, lets just play from hole 1 to hole 18. you have to slalom through all of the baskets on your way to 18.
Those 2 eagles were most impressive!!!!

I actually got a 5 on hole #6 from gold and white and 4's on hole 12!!!! that was the best part of my weekend. Other than the amazing sidearm roller I threw on my last hole (hole 2) from the left woods, through the rubber drainage a big jump out of it and right up to the pin for a 3 to tie for 7th place cash. It was truly a miracle........well then again, so were my shots on 12 and 13 from deep in the woods to save pars. phew.

Thats great. I also got a 5 on hole 6 from the gold tees and my drive was horrible. But I think that the safari round that I just mentioned would utilize the entire course and it would be interesting to watch.

better yet, we will slalom through all of the baskets from hole 1 to hole 18. start out by passing hole 1's basket on the left side. You know what, I think I'm going to go and do this tommorrow. I imagine under 100 would be a good score.
