Bought a first run DX Wraith yesterday at the Skullmaster Disaster out at Little Africa. Haven't thrown it yet, but will later in the week and get back to you. Anyone else thrown it yet?

These things are money. I was throwing them longer than anything in my bag. They held up well in the sub zero temps(with wind chills). Hit a few trees still going strong. I see some massive turnovers from these biotches when they break in.
Great job innova!! :D

Where are you discraft do you still make discs? :o

How do they compare to the DX Beast ? More or less stable ?

I'm pretty sure they sent out a wraith type disc to the pdga for approval last week.
Place an innova stamp on Discraft discs and most players probably wouldnt even be able to tell the difference. :D:eek: ;)

Yeah, I could tell. Innova doesn't have a disc that feels like a Predator. The Firebird is good but not that close to the feel or glide of a Pred.

Isn't the Z-Avenger already very similar to a Wraith?

wraith has a wider rim than avenger. wraith/illusion/spirit/spectra/venom/flick all seem to be tied for the widest rim, with the spectra maybe a hair wider than the rest.

true. but they are very similar. stability and distance-wise.

Wait wait wait... I'm hearing someone saying that the Z-Avenger and Proline (most common) Wraith are similar?

I really can't agree with this. I use a 1st Run Z-Avenger and Proline Wraith as my two main drivers. The Z-Avenger holds a line MUCH better than a Wraith, more stable. I can easily place a Z-Avenger on a nice smooth hyzer-flip line without worry of turnover for between 250-350 feet. But due to its high glide if I force it onto an anhyzer line it is likely to hold that line until it comes to a rest.

A Proline Wraith, on the other hand, with its supreme speed and slightly less stability, can get out further before its rotation affects it (or so it seems to me), pulling the hyzer flip over to a helix curving shot much more reliably than the Z-Avenger... It is far easier to put a Proline Wraith out to 390-410 for me than a Z-Avenger which will fade before that for me.

Then again... I throw a 1st Run which is 1.8 Discraft stability rating, compared to a 1.6 Discraft stability rating for the rest of the Z-Avengers...

Anybody else have much experience with both discs?

This thread isn't going where it needs to.
I started reading it b/c I wanted to know how the DX wraith flew. Not how much better/crappier it is than some other manufacturers disc. :(

HOW DOES THE DX WRAITH FLY? WHAT IS THE FLIGHT SHAPE LIKE? HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE OTHER MOLDS OF _WRAITH_...

the next one to tell how much worse it is than brand X's driver will be put infront of the first tree on hole #9 at coldbrook park and pelted with drivers

I field tested my dx wraith tonight out at Sunset Ridge Disc Golf Training Facility(Sunflower Ridge in the Summer).

The domey, 171, yellow dx seemed to be very overstable for me. It was about as overstable as my cfr augusta yellow. My proliners are still my longest shooters(marble term). White 172 pro is still my favorite of the bunch as a straight disc while blue 174 pro works the hyzer route better and just about as long. Thank you, Dave.
I'll give the dx to one of the guys at the course to beat up for me. Never put too much stock in brand new discs until they are beat up properly.

Love this version of DX. Threw an all time personal CTP on #17 Ramcat with a 150class DX Wraith this afternoon, pin high left about six feet. It's a big, uphill rhbh anhyzer. Yup, anhyzer. Very nose dependent little disc. On the same hole, same disc, another throw I had the biggest hyzer out, downhill, hit a log, skip, trainwreck shot I've ever had on that hole also. Apparently pays your money and takes your chances. And the plastic is way tougher than any DX I've thrown before.

15 to 20 mph thrown in direct headwind and left to right cross headwind....

throws further than a candy fund raiser.....as far or farther - depending on release angle- than a pro wraith
(all 5 dx, 3 pro, and 3 candy 175 grams)

disc is now in bag with others for open field shots(i'll still use pro on wooded holes)

This disc freaking booms! I had a cruddy drive on our only open hole and put it out 425ft. This has replaced my DX Orcs and DX Beasts for Pure Distance contests.

I still will not throw it during competition golf, as if I were to smack a tree with DX or Pro-D plastic, the disc is ruined. I use the CRF Wraith. The DX is a tad more stable, but not too much.

Dx Wraith is a fun driver disc. Holds the line well. You can throw it with slight anhyzer and it will come out at the end.

Try it and see for yourself. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
