This is to let everybody know we meet at Joeys every tuesday night at 7:30.We hope anyone and everyone wanting to be involved with the growth of WAFDA will be there. It looks like NW AR will fall under the umbrella of us as well.THIS IS GOOD.The joined forces will produce more for everyone in the end.The official website should be up by early next week. It's pretty much put together but we'll be giving the final ok at this coming tuesdays' meeting. All of the buisness minutes etc will be available for all to view.WAFDA members will have access to a little more.I for one want this association to be a success.I'm sure everyone feels the same. That's why it's important for all the info to be out there for all to see.Our reputation should always be in good standing with all in the Disc Golf community and Disc Sports alike. There is still alot to do.We need your help if we are going to make it.As of now it looks like 4 C Tier events and 1 B Tier are on the schedule.I'm looking for 6 a year in our immediate area.Russellville is a possability for more but that may be a while still.SO!!! Meetings,Input,Dedication, and good ol Hard Work is in order.WAFDA is on the move.

Why is it everytime I see the word "WAFDA", I think of waffles.........With maybe some bacon, eggs, and toast on the side. Is this a sign that my stomach has taken over and if so which way to the closest I-Hop?

My girlfriend told one time that her Norweigen grandmother would say "Uff-da" when she was upset and when she was really mad she would say "Uff-da-meg"

I wonder if "WAFDA" means anything in another language?

just got off the phone with a reporter in russeville with The Career. we talked for about 20 minutes about disc golf. she wanted information about the blowout. how a disc golf course can benefit the community. and several other related questions. ganzel expect a call i let her know about the tourney that you are running. pitchford expect a call i mentioned the course plans in russeville and that you were the state rep. she was also wanting to know how much a course would cost to put in. for the course design and impleminting the plans i gave her andys number.........just kidding. :Dsweet thing the article will be in the career paper on tuesday, i will be getting a copy of the paper.

one more on our side :D oh yeah i did mention WAFDA quite a bit, not a group of local disc golfers like the last guy.

Hey guys,

I am not sure if I am going to make it tonight or not. My wife has jury duty so I will have to go get the little one and keep him til she gets home. Last night that was about 6:45, I can't make it to Ft. Smith in time if she is that late again.

What you ned to know from me tonight is:

I have 4 people who say they want to sponsor holes at Alma, but I do not have any official confirmation as of yet.

Thad says the cd he got did not have the logo on it so he still needs a WAFDA logo emailed to him.
Also he wants a list of all other disc related sports so he can make links to them.
He wants a list of all disc courses and their addresses so he can put them on a clickable map.

Look at the WAFDA site and the gallery, what he has done is AWESOME!!! If he can do that I can't wait until he gets all the information together for the site! Let's help him all we can!

report from the ben geren rep.
all baskets are in "a" course set-up. most of the alt. pins were loaded down with junk that needed to be auged out. there are several baskets that have about a half inch of space from full contact with the connecting pieces. i was able to get all 18 locked down so the baskets are safe. don't know if this will create a future problem with getting lockdowns. on the holes that i could go down deeper in the pole i did to give us more fill room, don't know if that was smart or not i will find out in about a month when i move the baskets again.

i was scheduled to close again tonight. i have told all the managers that i am unavaliable to work on tuesday nights due to WAFDA meetings. it seems that i am going to need to take different measures to be sure that i can get off work on the only shift during the week that i need to be off each week.

I talked to Thad today, right before that post and he didn't mention an email. I'll try and catch him and see if he has that or if it didn't work or what.
I have compiled a list of Arkansas courses to send to him and I'll get OK courses next. He has a really cool program (like GoogleEarth) that he is going to put them on. It should be really neat. What did you think of the gallery setup?

We had a good productive meeting last night, our by-laws and constitution are finally rough-cut and being drafted for approval at the next meeting which is April 25,meetings will be every 2 weeks for now to hopefully move to monthly soon, we're leaning to let the committee's do their thing and report at the meetings what they've done and what they need, we'll be tackling the agreement with the Seb. Co. Park Board on the 25th also when that's final we can start official mini tournaments, league play and clinics at Ben Geren, of course Alma also (no real agreement required :cool:0 We're quickly learning that a large group of people can't micro manage all that is to be done hence the committee's and proper communication. We had an
interesting guest, Justin Huss with the Belle Grove Historical District, They are putting on a street fair on memorial day weekend, Sat. & Sun. They are a not for profit association and are allowing other not for profits to set-up booths he conservatly estimates 1500 people over the 2 days coming through, the cool thing is that it is free, he's a friend of SuperD, and they have enough room (soccer field) to let us set-up a lil 2 or 3 hole urban disc golf course for people to get a real hand's on demo! Phil has an easy-up tent, I can get a table and am going to make a cool sign for WAFDA to have that can hang from the table or easy-up, some promotional flyers and pamplets, a T.V with some cool instructional or impressive disc golf footage, some discs and several WAFDA members to help out and we have a visible educational/promotional event for WAFDA and disc golf! Dave's our liaison to Belle Grove and of course Pitch, Jr. is our educational director, this will be cool :cool:

Agenda:

Constitution and Bylaws Approval (already written just need to make sure it is good with a majority)

Sebastian County Parks Agreement (start on it if bylaws are approved)

Any Current Business that Needs Help (Alma, Belle Grove Booth, etc. etc. and of course, any New Business

Hope to see you there!!

May 03 2006, 01:42 PM
WAFDA had a good productive meeting last night, for those that were unable to attend, this is what happened:

Constitution and Bylaws are approved by a vote, these will be on the website soon.

WAFDA is finally purchasing custom stamp WAFDA disc for resale, (by vote) plan is to have them available by the Belle Grove Street Fair, Pitch, Jr. was kind enough to allow us to use his account with Innova, so we have to pay him back as or when they sale.

Registration is available on WAFDA.org, board members will be able to write articles/content for it, anyone else wanting to contribute - bring it to the meeting and we'll try to put it on the website. The forum should be up and running soon...

A draft of the agreement between Seb. Co. Parks and WAFDA is being drafted and will be looked at the next meeting.

The next meeting is scheduled for 5-16-06, 7:30 p.m. at Joey's Snuff-n-Suds.

Volunteers are still needed for the Belle Grove Fair Exhibit/Clinic on Memorial Day weekend (Sat. & Sun.) - contact SuperDave (479) 522-6340 if you are able to help out

Pitch Jr. will be coordinating the installation of sleeves for the new baskets at Alma on Tuesday, May the 9th - if you would like to help get a hold of Tom, Jr.

For anybody able to, WAFDA will be having a meeting tonight at 7:30 - Joey's Snuff-n-Suds - Sad to say, we have to find a stand-in for Ben Geren Course Rep. and maybe another position (Super-D is going to guard the border of canada or something :D- actually he's going to work for the Scouts this summer) We haven't had a meeting since May 2nd so there will be plenty to discuss and decide!!

Just a reminder we'll be having a WAFDA meeting June 6 at 7:30 pm - Joey's Snuff-n-Suds

AGENDA

Seb. Co. Parks Agreement (finally drafted need to go over it and make sure it is what we want to propose)

Russellville Agreement (correcting it and making sure that we want to do it)

Fund Raising!! - Raffle ticket sales, other ideas

Oh Yeah, we got a practically new course in Alma and I think that there might be a tournament in a few weeks, all BS aside
2nd Annual ALMA GREENS - last minute details, this is gonna be a well run and excellent tournament plus we have the added benefit of our friends in Fayetteville putting on a non-sanctioned but still fun 2nd Annual Northwest Doubles Challenge right there in Alma Back to Back tournaments
2 tournaments - 2 consecutive days - 2 organizations - 1 course - 1 love :D

plus of course we'll talk about new ideas - make it if you can .The Seb. Co. Parks Agreement is important and everyone's input is welcomed

evandmckee
Jun 08 2006, 04:54 PM
Results of last meeting - the proposal for the agreement between Sebastian County Parks and WAFDA is officially in the Judges Office, their move now.

Some interesting results of talking with the Judge's office, we're clear to start official WAFDA hosted mini's and leagues,
we're also clear to mow, weed eat, minor removal of vines, stumps, etc. - NO TREE CUTTING without proper clearance through the park, this has to be done with our own equipment, it's aways off but if WAFDA gets or has access to a tractor, we could handle it and stop griping when it's not mowed right,
the park is under staffed and until or if that changes, the potential new course at Ben Geren would have to be maintained by WAFDA, we'll have to see about that later.

Anyways - next meeting is this coming Tuesday, 6-13, Joeys Snuff-n-Suds, 7:30 p.m., after this one hopefully we'll start finally meeting monthly and we can start doing more of what a disc golf club should do - PLAY DISC GOLF!! (official Mini's and Leagues are finally coming :D)

Agenda - Finish what we didn't last meeting

Russellville Agreement
Fund Raising (Raffle Ticket Sales)
Alma Greens (Last Minute Details - it's already in good hands,
Pitch Jr. will make this one to remember )

New Business -
Public Relations Officer (Board Position) has come open, need to fill it

AR State Championships WILL be a B Tier in 07.(This is also one of the USDGC qualifiers.)So National has been the primary association of the Litle Rock area for some time now. That's being worked on by yours truly. There SHOULD be at least a couple PDGA events held there each year. This is what politics can do to areas.I have nothing against So National. But the PDGA is our strongest association AND it seems that no matter what people say about the PDGA they always seem to want to pattake in the bigger events held by them.John Kittrel is the treasurer of the So National gang and he's an Arkansas resident. He's the one running State Championships and he's the one throwing in the PDGA sanctioning this year for it.We'll be working on fundraising discs and sponsership come Jan 07.We will make this event what it should be."HUGE"He's also agreed to consider moving it around each year. This depends on the action of 07's turnout.Questions answered?

Hey guys,

Sorry I didn't make it out last night. I would really appreciate someone updating me.
Our school has been notified that the State Department is coming this next week to check all of our Sp.Ed files. Since we were written up last year for some missing elements, and it could cost the school thousands of dollars in funding, this is a really big deal. So all Sp Ed teachers have to go through all their files and check for any missing or incomplete documents and get them in the files before next Monday. So AlmaWillie is going to be seriously out of pocket (ie. off the greens and board) for the next few days. :(
Sorry!

the BIG thang is us brainstorming a proposal together to take to the county about us taking over the old BMX facility by the course - a building that concessions/disc could be sold out of - BATHROOMS available (entry from outside of building!!), More parking - and 9 MORE BASKETS!! - real simple beginner layout - it's just a proposal to the county - we're trying... hard :D

More ideas about the fundraising raffle were stirred around....

after the mini sat. we'll be getting together and lookin at the BMX thing at the course

the layout for the new nine holes is pretty cool. :cool:it is true that they are pretty short. that is the idea. there will be room to stretch out the alternate pin positions for tournament play. imagine 27 holes sometime in the future. :)

Below is copy/pasted from our bylaws, I agree that some of it may be kinda "just titles" in a way, many of these responsibilities are shared by many, the actual money things are probably the most important to be "actually accountable per job description" These are the actual Board Positions, remember there are also "committee positions" that are determined by the elected board i.e. course reps, TDs, ect.
I'd love to see Rodger involved, Roger Knight and Willie are also very passionate about disc golf but remember you have to be a "current" dues paying member to vote/run/hold board positions per our constitution

below is copied from WAFDA bylaws

C. Duties of Directors

CO-CHAIR

Same responsibilities as the Chair, stands in as Chair when necessary.

TREASURER

To handle all WAFDA money. The Treasurer reports at each business meeting on the financial status of WAFDA by keeping a ledger which will include all receipts of payment. This ledger shall be kept in accordance with good accounting practices. The Treasurer shall have principal access to WAFDAs PO Box. WAFDAs checks shall require both the Treasurers and Controllers signatures.

CONTROLLER

The controller assists the Treasurer and also keeps inventory and possession of WAFDA property and merchandise.

SECRETARY

I am planning on getting back into the DG activities it has just been really crazy trying to keep up with the new job, 2 kids under 3 and my streak of having killed a deer for the last 9 (now 10) years in a row. (Finally got a good 8 point Sunday)

You're current Willie!!

Memberships run Jan. 1 thru Dec. 31, like the PDGA, keeps it much simpler to know who's current and not, It's also been voted that anyone paying dues after Sept. 1 will get the rest of that year plus the entire next year. The past post reference was my personal opinion about who might make good additions to WAFDA's board. The 2 Rogers are not current but they both have shown alot of interest and Roger Koenigseder has done ALOT of work at BG's course and we need to keep that Willie guy around so I might have a chance at not being DFL all of the time ;)

Nov 14 2006, 05:05 PM
Yeah Yeah, The way I played at Alma this last time there is no chance of YOU being DFL!! :( As a congrats on the deer, my wife, brother-in-law John and I went to play Alma Sunday morning and I shot a +10!!! I haven't done that at Alma since I first started playing!!! It was BRUTAL!! I couldn't drive worth a crap! I think I hit almost every tree in the park AND I lost my old (Favorite) Eagle in the lake  !! It was a horrible round, but at least I was playing again.

If I am in town this weekend I will be at the mini. My wife is still hunting so I will be keeping the kids, but she is always out of the woods by 8:30 to 9:00 so I should make it.

Hope to see ya'll there.

Be careful Willie, sometime around World's I seriously lost my mojo, seemed the more that I played the worst I shot, seemed to be stuck at shooting around 6 big at BG, I finally shot a 56 last weekend that included 2 double bogies and 2 bogies - felt good - brought my handicap down by 2 strokes for this weekend also, made me feel like a sandbagger with a 6 stroke handicap - no 10 stroke handicap for you though, we'll adjust yours from HOTB :D

Mar 07 2007, 03:52 PM
Interesting development, important person with Cumulus Broadcasting took his son to play disc golf yesterday, they're very new to the sport, Ben Geren was packed with players, like most newer people they don't realize or take seriously that "frisbee golf" is popular and is a true sport...he was blown away, impressed and hooked particularly that alot of people are playing, he immediately saw that his company (owns several radio stations and other media) could promote this interesting "new to him" sport, he contacted the County Parks about it, they guided him to WAFDA, he found out that Joey was a part of the board, already knows him, Joey does alot of advertising for his store with him....

He wants to meet with us this next Tuesday night at our meeting to discuss the possibility of him sponsoring and promoting a charity tournament, don't know that it'll be sanctioned, but it will be fun and geared towards newer players, similiar to the Ice Bowl maybe but in "maybe" early May....

I hope to see a bunch of members and board members with there thinking hats on at the meeting, could turn into one of those long lots of brainstorming with a way to follow through with an idea for a pure fun event!!

She wants to play down there but we don't have anyone to keep the kids while we are playing. If we could find someone to keep them during the tourney time she would.
Anyone know someone in Hot Springs, or no someone who is going who wouldn't mind watching a couple of kids for a few hours that day?

Allright, this is an "in the works" schedule for this year's events. This year is really a preperation for 2008. The plan is to have enough events in the state of Arkansas to get you 1000 points to qualify for worlds in KC '09. Not sure how many that is yet or if we can pull an A-tier yet (HOTB) but his year will help to figure that out.

The beginning of the Arkansas State Coordinator's USDGC Qualifier Series was last weekend at Hell on the Border so we'll start the schedule then.

August Hell on The Border
September
October (JB Hunt) (Eddy Bowl) (Jacksonville)
November (Mayor's Invitational)
December
January
February (HCR)
March Northshore Invitational
April Wildcat Open
May State Championships
June Alma Greens
July Russellville

I'm checking schedules, and I need to hear from TD's
We don't have many people in this state with enough heart to run tournaments, and we have even fewer volunteers. This will be a lot of work for a few people, Thank you. We do have momentum, we have more and more golfers, more courses, and sponsors are getting more interested with each event we have. Think this over and give me some feedback.

evandmckee
Aug 15 2007, 02:31 PM
Sounds like the NWADGA & WAFDA meetings had a similiar agenda with the Scheduling.........

looking like for Early to mid-March you can add the Ben Geren Blowout..........

We are looking to pay sanctioning and put 07 Mayor's Inv, 08 Blowout, 08 Greens and 08 HOTB on the schedules in about 2 weeks, doubtful at this time that we will do HOTB as an A-Tier, and probably put HOTB back in September, Mid-Nationals was the biggest reason for it being in Aug. this year however there is talk of more B Tiers....all about the Points next year

Sanction HCR???

What's the story on the Mayors Invitational? Sanctioned? What course?

AlmaWillie
Aug 17 2007, 09:54 AM
This is a tourney we have held a couple of times at Alma. It has never been sanctioned and if I remember right it wasn't even done last year, due to some complications. It was the first tourney to happen there right after the course went in and I had gotten the disc golf club going at Alma.
I would love to see it happen again, as Alma should have two tourneys a year, at least, to keep it in the public eye. It is getting very little use right now. It's a double-edged sword. The city doesn't see it getting used so they don't keep it up as well as they should, then since it isn't being kept up it isn't hardly ever used. I know there was a church group that used to play every 3rd Sunday, but they quit when it got so grown up before Alma Greens and as far as I know they haven't started back yet. If you go play Alma, get on their city website http://almachamber.com/ and let them know you appreciate the course. Maybe we can keep it in their mind and get them to stay on it.

Alma is correct

we'll know within the next couple of weeks if it will happen for sure, biggest hangup will be course being mowed, after grass stops growing one good mowing should be good for a winter course.......

please, EVERYONE that see's this call/email the City of Alma
and tell them that the course is GREAT but the not mowing it is ridiculous (half a day every 1 to 2 weeks, fairway mowing is OK, that's all it takes and they won't let us do it because of liability)

if/when it happens it WILL be PDGA sanctioned, possibly SN as well and probably included in the USDGC series

whats WAFDA  :D

Status with WAFDA is good, just no one uses this board as much as they used to, we have more lurkers than posters, we'll still keep it around though, definitely still a useful and entertaining tool

Ben Geren and Tilles mini's are going well, Ice Bowl is set-up for Tilles, Feb. 9th

We are looking for a better place to have meetings, Joey is far too busy, I'm looking into using the FS Public Library or the Creekmore Park Facility, they offer rooms for org's such as ours for no charge

Mainly because the Tilles Mini on Tues. doing well we're somewhat up in the air on a set time like we had, we don't want Tilles to lose steam by skipping 1 week a month and people being confused, I'll be setting up a meeting time for around the middle of Jan., New elections looking to be held in Feb., there's alot of newer (and some older) faces that have been hitting the mini's that I'd like to see get more involved

Once our meeting place and time are set I'll definitely be letting everyone know

as far as the PDGA affiliate discount, yes you can do it thru WAFDA and save $5, starting last year they don't have to bundled and can be sent in one at a time if need be

May 21st is the scheduled club meeting, 7pm, Library (3rd Wednesday)

AlmaWillie
May 05 2008, 04:00 PM
So Evan,
What you are saying is that I REALLY need to be at the mini next Sunday so we can discuss this, right? :)
My real concern is the sponsorships and getting enough together for the tourney to be a good one. Alm is slowly slipping by the wayside and I don't want to see that happen. (Even if I do happen to need 18 baskets for a new course I am working on :) )

evandmckee
May 05 2008, 05:05 PM
Yes, you REALLY need to play Alma's mini, however......this Sunday is MOTHER'S DAY, I had figured that we wouldn't do it this Sunday because of that, unless Shawna wants to play ;)

Pre-Reg should be up this week, I'll post flyer this evening

players packs are ordered, payout is procured also, added cash for B Tier requirements is laid out

Mayor says that the bluff will be mowed this week and should be mowed every couple of weeks (just barely starting to be higher than wanted.........this is always the problem area with Alma)

The wooded back 9's debris from flooding has been controlled burnt, pretty weird looking for now but was probably a smart way to clean it up, still needs touch-up and we'll probably wind up doing what weed eating needs to be done in there

spillway probably won't be brush hogged until June (not real bad now)

when you thinking about the Backwoods Bash?

June 1 is Springdale Links and Hot Springs

June 14th is another Arkie event, 15th is SNPC Fundraiser at Alma

28th is the Greens, Good month for Arkie DG!!

Since we in Tulsa consider all of you brothers away from home, I would like to inform you of an opportunity to communicate in person with the PDGA. The objective is not a lynch mob but a way for our strong disc golf region to address any concerns that we have with our parent organization. Disc golf in this region has exploded over the last 5 years. It was not long ago that we could barely host an A tier. Now with Worlds, A tiers, B tiers and our second NT about to take place, we as a region are being watched and listened too. It would be a great idea for both of the Fort Smith and Fayetteville clubs to have a representative at this meeting. All are welcome but please hold it to one speaker if possible. We as a region are strong and we need to continue to be so.

From John Duesler, posted on the TDSA threads 1/14/09.

Hello Tulsa disc golfers. As the new Director of Marketing and Communications, I am pleased to see your passion for the PDGA and disc golf. We saw it during the great events Kevin, Joe and David Wise and Coda helped organize in the past (culminating with the Worlds and your second NT event this year), and we see it now with your observations on the message board.

To provide a more effective forum of communication, Brian Graham and I are planning to meet with any of the Tulsa disc golfers (and NT Touring Pros) during a Forum at the April NT event at the Lodge. Our goal here is not just to field your concerns, but to begin establishing what could be a more effective way to communicate in the future (i.e. better than just the message board.) This will occur Friday night of the event.

Our suggested format would consist of the following...

a. Opening remarks from our host...Jim Taylor (Thanks Jim!)

b. A Statement from Brian Graham and one from John Duesler generally related to some of your PDGA concerns.

c. Then comments from the following (in either order...)
--The Oklahoma State PDGA Coordinator

--A Tulsa DG Club Representative(s)

d. Then Open Floor to Comments.

I would suggest that you prepare your comments for this meeting, as well as your recommendations for a better relationship with the PDGA in the future.

In the meantime, my phone number is 215-913-0569 and I have a skype account at jdflyer44. I welcome you to use any of these methods to contact me directly.

Thanks and see you in April.

I am as bad as most at not getting free for, or even remembering, the meetings, so I am not griping, just saying. I know that some of our members now have new responsibilities that make our meeting time all but impossible, so maybe we need to look into a new time.

I agree with Willie. I say we list the best times for each member. and find a best time for the most people to be there. Mine is friday night and all weekend. But i def cant do anything during the week as i am always on the road now.

The only bad night for me is Thursday night, consistently. As of right now, day time meetings on the weekends are not great, due to my work on the house, but hopefully that will be over by the next months meeting. Probably, a weekend day, maybe after a mini, would be a good time for me so I have an excuse to go to a mini! :)

my opinion - I like the idea of quarterly meetings, combine em' after a mini to boost member participation - go over the typical reporting, membership #'s, financials, committee reports, ect. in an orderly fashion.

Most financial & event planning can be done thru e-mails, phone, ect. - financials can be turned in once a month or so to Phil during mini's, ect. - I've missed very few meetings and have been doing it for 5 YEARS, some of you may remember weekly meetings with the formation of the club - 13 weeks straight - we know what's necessary to efficiently run the org and it doesn't take place around a table once a month

I do remember the days of weekly meetings at the beginning. And I think you are completely right about most of the work being done outside the "board room". I just get frustrated that we only have 3 or 4 consistent members that take the interest to show up to meetings. I can't remember the last time we had a FULL board at the meeting, usually we are scratching, or calling folks, to get quorum. And I know that we have those on the board who can't make meetings, and we don't have people to step-up to fill in those board spots. I guess that is the frustration..... Anyway, I would just like to see more interest in the workings of the club, so if it needs to be quarterly meetings to get this, then let's do it. We can always call special meetings for new business or tourney needs.

Speaking of tourneys........ What is a good date in April for a Chester sanctioned event. Regular disc golf this time. I'm ready!! :)

I'm thinking I need to go for May 8th, as that could be my birthday present to myself!! :)
And, that looks like the soonest one I could get in, so shorter grass (unless I do the Sunday after War on the Shore, April 25th).

Sunday after War on the Shore has an event in Hot Springs

(Players Challenge - Monthly Series)

I know Little Rock, Hot Springs and Russellville are involved in this, I doubt we'd pull many from that area anyway, maybe better for May 8th - make a B-Day Bash out of it, cool local event perhaps :)

Sorry guys! I completely forgot about the meeting. Our road has been completely washed out twice now in the flooding, to the point that we have had to walk in from the Interstate for 6 days, and the meeting was the farthest thing from my mind. I would be more than happy to vote on a reschedule and meet another day, just let me know.

What's up everybody!

I wasn't sure where to put this post so I decided to put it right here on the WAFDA meeting thread. But anyway....

Roger knight brought it to my attention that I should post something about my experience at the national collegiate disc golf championship (NCDGC) and I thought that would be a good idea.

We left Fayetteville a few days before the tournament so that we could maybe play bud hill or another awesome course on the way but that ended up getting rained out so we stopped and ate some wendy's in Memphis TN. We drove straight through the night to our hotel in Augusta Georgia and arrived there at about 6 AM so we were pretty tired and slept till the afternoon the next day. When we got up we went and played the hippodrome and the hogback course where the tournament was, and it was awesome! The next day, we were able to play one the epic courses at IDGC and check out the disc golf hall of fame which was quite impressive. Then Thursday rolled around, which was the start of the tournament. We shot lights out in our two doubles rounds that day, not missing one single putt all day so we were tied for second place. I was paired with Ryan Black and James and Geoff played together. We were really pumped about that day and went into the next day just as excited. That second day, we played singles rounds from the blue tees which are in between the red and the black tees. I played pretty terribly, but the team held it together both rounds. The third day was my day though! I shot a couple strokes behind the hot round of the day from the black tees and would have done much better had I not gotten a circle six on my last hole of the round due to the thirty mile an hour cross wind. Then Sunday comes around, and we are tied for 5th place, and we have one more doubles round to play from the blacks. We hung in there the entire round, not doing anything amazing but sticking with San Diego State whom we were paired with. The last few holes we kind of fell apart and gave it away which was a big disappointment, but at the same time a great learning experience, as was the entire tournament. So overall, we tied for 6th place and earned an automatic seed into next years tournament. I got meet a lot of great guys from around the country and we all have the same ambition to grow the sport until it can't grow anymore... and then grow it some more! It was an amazing experience and a great bonding time for the disc golf team, and we plan on going to more tournaments and representing the razorbacks i BIG way next year! We all really appreciate the support of the disc golf community around here and wouldn't be able to make it across the country without you guys and gals. I believe collegiate disc golf is going to boost this sport to the next level.

Sorry this was so long! I definitely have a lot more to say but that was just kind of a synopsis of some good and some unnecessary info that went down on my first trip to a collegiate disc golf tournament from my perspective.:D
