I'm looking for a long fast and extremly overstable disc. Something that is definitly good into the wind. I sidearm over 400 and have been using illusions and the wraith. the illusion is by far the farthest disc i have ever thrown. the problem is I keep flipping them. The illusion was awesome straight out of the box but with some use I have to really be careful not to flip it over and if there is any wind the disc i gone. I throw all max weight.

I've been thinking about maybe trying a Monster, Xtreme, or a Spirit. Or maybe something else. Im just looking for the most overstable longest disc on the market. Anyone have any suggestions?

you should try a speed demon if you like SICK SPEED!! :D

I would think you would like a new Champ Firebird instead of a Monster, I've seen great distance results with a powerful sidearm with this disc.

Yea but I turn them over. I even have a First Run FX that turns over on me. My bag is definitly full of firebirds though. Best disc ever.

Z Preds are very consistent and overstable

Id check your mechanics first. It doesnt matter how strong you are, if your technique is bad. I used to throw bombs on forehand, but also would flip over anything, and I found out I wasnt releasing it at the right angle. That being said, I had my best luck with the "Nike" Spirit. I liked them alot more than the Speed Demons for those shots. Any E Spirit should do.

Try a 150 Birdie putter. :o/msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Mechanics are sometimes the issue but not always. But my illusions I can drop huge hyzer on it and it flips over especially if there is any kind of wind. Its almost impossible for me to send the disc on a straight hyzer route without letting off the power.

quit playing when it's windy

Z-Xtreme will be too overstable for distance.

Z-Pred or Z-Flick would be my recommendations.

Monster is my headwind driver... and my tomahawk/sidearm/thumber/spike/forehand roller disc. So it's pretty one dimensional. But seriously, I have to try real **** hard to get this thing to turn over without a good headwind, and usually get very good distance on a clean throw.

Yeah try the Flick. If it feels good in your hand, it should be good for what you want. If you are flipping Firebirds, you probably will see the same result with a Predator.

You should look into Scott Stokley's 2nd video. It has a good amount of sidearm instruction there and you may be able to incorporate some of that into your game and improve upon your technique.

MONSTER all the way!!! Fast and doesn't flip over on you like i've seen Flicks do in head wind. it's a little more overstable and faster than a firebird.

Just go get a Z-Flick, a Monster and a Spirit. Test them all out together and post your results. I would be shocked if one of those doesn't fit into exactly what you are looking for.

Z-FLICK ....... sometimes hard to see the space between the L and the I ....... gotta plane to catch..... later!

i would definetly say a speed demon, i just switched from sprits to speed demon for my sidearm shots. it is stable enough where it won't over flip but when it does flip up, there is some great distance to be had. i heard that there was a re-tooling of the speed demon to make it less stable but i'm sure they are still overstable pigs!!!

I had Dave give me some Speed demons that were from a rum or two ago and they were way Too overstable. I threw them this weekend into tropical force winds and they were still hyzering. I would go with a spirit instead of a Speed Demon as it is slightly faster and about the same out of the box.

Is your release clean, with positively no wobble? The wobble can cause them to turn over.
I use a max weight pro starfire for sidearm shots up to 350. If I really want something to hyzer out at the end then I'll use a 150 Z-Flick.

The spirit has some great distance, but I personally can't throw it sidearm. (For reference, my distance sidearm is probably 20' lower than yours, and use Orcs and Wraiths.) I've got a monster, but I really don't like the way it feels in my hand.
You could consider a Starfire-X, that's my headwind disc. But considering you flip a hyzered firebird, it may not be what your looking for.

I gotta go with everybody else that has metioned Gateway. The E-Spirit is the shizzle for sidearm shots. I have a flat top E-Spirit that is wicked overstable that is pure money for sidearming and headwinds.

then you need to work on your mechanics. i've heard Stokely could throw a Stratus 400ft Sidearm. Practice throwing less stable discs -- overstable discs enable you to mask bad technique (they dampen down off-axis torque). if you are flipping the most overstable stuff out there -- it sounds like a technique issue. Think of what you'd be dealing with if this wrere 1983

That is 100% right, my game improved tremendously when I started carrying a bag that had only understable discs in it. When you have to take a disc and learn how to make it turn left when normally it is a turn over disc, you will learn an emmense amount about your technique.

After all, stability is in the arm of the disc thrower.

I can make a DX Stingray overstable. Thats being in touch with your mechanics.

It sounds funny, but you could always put more S on your shot. I used to take Spirits and release them almost shoulder high with the disc tilted. It would produce a most excellent S shot, and would fly farther than any backhand I could throw, unless I blasted a huge sky ahny. Same shot, different throw.

Id still say E Spirit, Ch. Monster or Z-Flick. If you need beefier, go with the Speed Demon, but I myself didnt care for those.

If you would like to try some gateway high speed drivers, you could get a missed stamped special of 5 for $35 or 10 for $50. paypal the money to david@gdstour.com or call the shop 314 487 5204.
You could get a few spirits AND a few speed demons to check them out yourself.
There are aslo runs of both that are so flat that they are TOO overstable for us to release to the general public.
I Guarantee you that they are the fastest and most overstable discs you will ever throw and have ever been ever made or I will give you your money back!

Ive thrown one 25 times head on into a conrate wall and it wont even begin to flip even into a head wind.

I would reccomend just a regular E spirit though, but you should at least try one of these flat babies!!!

I have one in my bag...they are sick things for sure...I use mine for straight up and down spike hyzers!

Although, a regular "E" Spirit that actually has some glide would be better for practical uses.

For the dual purpose of having some decent 'D' and some (moderate to high headwind) overstability, I'd go with a Firebird or Predator.
