The 2006 Illinois Open Series is ready to go. We are very excited for the year to begin. We saw huge growth last year with an average of 138 players per event. We expect the same in 2006 as the disc golf population is booming in the surrounding areas.

Hot Rags, a retailer in Lombard and 5 other Chicago area locations, has signed on as the primary sponsor for the Lombard leg of the 2006 IOS! They will also start selling discs in all of their Chicago locations and I think they will be a great addition to the local retail disc golf vendors.

Besides cash sponsorship, Hot Rags will be helping us to promote the event. It is going to great to have a local retailer to help promote the event in Lombard.

We have 88 players pre-reged. Adv / Pro Saturday is half full. The weather forecast is good. If you want in go to http://store.discontinuum.org/ and get pre-reged.

Attendance is up all over the mid-west. This could easily fill both days. Don't be left out.

I have been getting e-mails, calls, im's, & pm's like crazy. I cannot hold spots. 1st come, 1st serve. I'll be at the course from 4 to 8 tonight. Have correct change if you want to preregister. I have quite a few names to upload when I get home tonight. I'll update the tour page with the registrations i've received today. I have 10 players to add.

Not heading to Amateur Worlds this year? IOS #4 @ Rockford, IL is going to be monstrous and a must play Midwest event. Mark July 29th (Adv/Pro) or 30th (Int/Rec/Jr) on your calendar for this Am/Pro B-Tier event.

Last year 167 players played this inaugural event ranking it tied for 13th of most attened PDGA events in 2005. IOS attendance has skyrocketed this year up 55%. If the trend continues over 250 players will be at Rockford. On average there have been 23 pros, 54 advanced, 44 intermediate, and 46 recreational players at each of the first three events. There have also been approximately 15 women at each event playing various divisions.

Two pools of 72 players on both courses will limit play to 4-somes each day. 42 holes will be played and there will be a Final 4 Safari for the top 4 Open players. IOS #4 is an Am Nationals qualifying event (www.amnationals.com). The ace pool will be starting at over $500.00 on the 29th.

Marshall Street (http://www.marshallstreetdiscgolf.com) has sponsored 18 items as CTP's for the weekend. Thank you Marshall Street! Combining the Marshall Street CTP's with our usual CTP's there will be approximately 50 CTP's split between the 2 days. We strongly encourage you to preregister for this event. Register here-> http://store.discontinuum.org/product_info.php?products_id=35 . The PDGA Tour page is updated daily with current registered players. Check www.brasscash.com (http://www.brasscash.com) for more details.
