Question:
From your experience playing tournaments or mini tournaments what division do you think displays the overall worst attitude on the course???
I think it's the Advanced Men division...In MA1 most players have great skills in certain areas but lack skill in other areas. For instance; in MA1 some guys can throw a mile just like some Open players do, but then they have trouble putting. Nothing is more frustrating than throwing a great shot and missing a relatively easy putt.
And yes, I'm very bored at work today :D

I think it depends on where you are. Around here, the Women (of all divisions) are pretty laid back.
I don't think we have a "primadonna" division, just individuals. ;)

A lot of people might remember this; at Iowa Worlds in 04 the advanced masters division were at each others throats on the lead card. It got so bad that the PDGA had to put a rules official on the lead card to follow them around. I'm pretty sure these guys almost got in a fight during the round also.
Does anybody else remember this?

That still applies to MA1, If I remember correctly, most of the players on the MM1 lead card are MA1 players the rest of the year.
Saulter played MA1 and MPO in 2003.
Ehlart did play all MM1 in 2003.
Hunt played all MA1 in 2003 except for MM1 in 1 event.
Kozlowski played all MA1 in 2003.
That's the ones that made the final 9, not sure who was on the lead card when there was trouble.

If it's the final round, just a couple more holes to play, I'm sitting firmly in DFL, and you walk up to the tee box and call me a liar --- well, apparently my temper can go from 0 - to - Hostile in about .5 seconds. (Conroe) :o
Or...pick up a disc that's not your's and when the rightful owner asks you if you have his discs, lie about it and start peeling your shirt off like your itching for a fight (Pease Park).
**** --- I might need to retake those court-mandated anger managment classes again...
***
I've seen bad tempers at all level of play in our sport, though. But to be honest, I think it's a testmant to our sport and the inherent sportsmanship of the majority of our players that incidents of rage and outrageous temper outbursts are so rare.
For every #$*&$!, I've probably played with a 1000 happy clowns (but make no mistake about it...they were all clowns ;) )
EDITED to ask --- Why is A_ngry C_lown a censored word? I can understand curse words. But neither one of those words (or even both words in conjunction) are bad or improper words.

My scenario is interesting. I don't get mad on the course and I don't believe in bad luck. I just make excuses when I make a bad shot to make myself feel better which ppl interept for being angry or complaining. It's funny, when I get a cut through or a spit, I don't say much, but when I a hit a tree, its bullchit. :D

I voted for Open Men. I dont really know if they are any worse than Am Men, but they are under a bigger microscope.
Open Women or Am Masters would be my choice for best, though for the last year I havent played on a bad Am card. Some good cards with questionable players, is different.

the overall experience in NC is that the DFL MPO card has the best attitude..Thats where the fun is...
As far as temper tantrums are concerned, I think its hilarious....In fact, it brings the rest of the group closer....Helps me re-set and get my head out for a minute....Direct your tantrum at me or someone else in the group and thats different(also very rare).

Ive played alot of rounds with Ron the last year or so. If you can handle the same story 5 times or tune out how hes played nearly every course in America and how he threw EACH individule hole, the round goes fast. If you cant or let him get into you, your done.
Personally, alot of players ( including myself ) have used the Factor as an excuse. There is merit in it, as he can compound a bad round, but Ive played with worse.

At 2004 Worlds there were advanced masters on every card acting like they were hyped up on steroids or meth! Almost every round someone in my group made an issue about something, and when I would say, "Well, we can ask the TD at the end of the round," that made me the rules N-A-Z-I.
Way too many of those guys were acting like it was the championship of the world, or something! :D

Sometimes when Im having a bad round, that kind of positive stuff makes me in a worse mood
I played with this guy last weekend, and I wanted to put duct tape over his mouth. Every time someone would throw into the woods, he would say I just knew that was going to turn out of there Then after they got out Thats all you could have done with that shot. I just wanted to ask him how the hell he knew that thats all I could have done with that shot
He was also one of those guys that had to Put in his .02 about every **** PDGA rule through the whole round. ..
I guess I need to just calm down, but guys like that can get me out of my game so easy. I get so frustrated with the constant mouthing.

I used to get very angry with myself for making bad shots, then one day during a practice round a particular hole taught me a lesson. I tried to throw a safe up the middle shot, it skipped left into shule, tossed an out shot back to the fairway, tried again to advance up the fairway with another up the middle midrange shot again and skipped left into the shule, after taking a out shot to get back onto the fairway, the next shot needed to turn to the right, a gentle turnover midrange was all that was needed. I threw my most flippy Buzzz, and for some reason it did not turn and went straight into the shule again. I got so ticked off that I kicked my bag (which at the time had 25 discs in it). Well, don't kick a loaded tour bag. I split my big toe nail in two.
That reminds me never to lose my temper on the golf course.
But I voted for MA2 players. While many MA1 and MPO players can be primadonnas, and I have played with a few, the MA2 players get more mad at themselves then any group I have seen. They are expecting to make great 400ft drives and can 30ft putts all the time. But if they were doing that, then they would not be playing in MA2. It is funny to see a person react when their expectations exceed their skills.

"Everyone loves Ronald."
BTW, the quotes I put up there werent an attempt to make someones round go easier, all the time. I get tired of playing AMs with complainers and cry babys. If you cant take the heat, stay outta my kitchen. I dont try to influence the card Im on by being a child, unless someone else starts first. I played bad almost exclusively last season, but I dont think alot of people conplained that they had to deal with me during the round. Im pretty easygoing, something alot of people on here dont realize until they meet me in person. Like with Ron. The best thing is to finish his sentences. This drives nearly every non-annoying person in the world crazy, and can also work with the annoying as well.
Example:
"Have you ever played at- "Yes. I have. The food was excellent."
"Did you see the way- " No. I was staring out into nothingness."
Its effective.

I'll consider myself in the Advanced Men category for this, but I've noticed that as my skills have improved, I'm having frustration issues when things aren't 'clicking' for me. Today was particularly bad as I'm battling with an elbow injury and consistancy is NOT there. I may have proclaimed some 4 letter words on the course that are neither 'Disc' nor 'golf'. The area that was frustrating me most was the little 150 foot upshots that were all falling WAY short. Normally I could put it within about 40 feet pretty much every time, but today it was like 80-100 feet away(yeah, that means I was throwing discs either way left/right, not that short/long). I may have to take a couple weeks off from looking at 'those' websites and not disc to get ready for the lumberjack open.

Sometimes this is the best solution. It gives you time to rethink your strategies and plan them through in your head, reinvision your form and power, nurse injured body parts back to health, and best of all clear your head of bad rounds and shots.
I had to take two weeks off because I was starting to get tendonitist in my right elbow. It was agonizing, after 10 days I allowed myself 15 minutes of putting practice a day, and after the two weeks was up I worked back into full time practice. Also, I recommend Glucloseamine Chondroitin with MSN to help with your joints. I have been taking it since the tendonitist a year ago and have yet to have any problems.
Good luck.
