It is a temp hole to the left of 11A's basket. You will see a path to the tee box, and some whiskers in the ground defining the box. 260' away is another whisker defining the basket placement.

Of the last 16 sanctioned events I've played, I've played "up" above my rating in all of them (as MA1). I've cashed once in those 16 events (6th place at the Powell Duece or Die).
I've decided that as long as my rating indicates that I'm an MA2-level player (and I have more than enough rated rounds to have some pretty conclusive data to indicate that's exaclty what I am), then I'm going to compete as an MA2 player at all 2+ day events.
I'll continue to try to compete as an MA1 during 1 day events --- but my disability (30% VA rating for both of my reconstructed knees) really starts to hinder me and limit my game on the second day of competition.

Welcome Rooster,
Hope I get to play one of the rounds on the same card. Have not had that privelige as of yet. Of course it will have to be the first round, if you get my meaning. I do somewhat the same. Long courses, I will move down and courses I feel I can compete on I will play up. Good luck.

The Lake course was muddy this morning, but should have dried out somewhat this afternoon.

You're preaching to the choir, Rooster. :(
Thanks, Brian and staff. Y'all did a great job with the last minute adjustments that had to be made due to the weather.
you mean you didnt get the duce? i hit a circle 4 on the 27 holes and a duce on the second round of 18. i loved that hole and all of its imaginary water!
were skips onto the island good or not? because i heard alot of contradicting tales.
My sunday was a great one, playing +6 and EVEN are great rounds in my book. on the first one that i took a circle 6, my disc came in nicely on a huge hyzer on 24short and we saw it land, and it was just gone when we got there. i run back to re-tee and hit every tree on the way down to get that 6.
great tournament, beautiful course.

Great weekend, great tournament.
I had a blast.
I was not putting very well this weekend (or upshooting either) but my drives were working out pretty good. Good enough to get 3rd place (1 stroke behind James McCaine) and Taking home CASH$$$$$
Memorable shots for me at the tournament.
Watching Larry try a forehand roller on #2 and trying it myself for the bird.
Hitting #3 both times for the bird.
Hitting #4, the island hole, both times for the Bird.
After a bad (so I though) shot on 15B, throwing a hail mary turnover shot and getting the 3 in the 1st round.
Getting a 3 on 18 after a great roll.
Managing a 4 on 19-21 after landing in the wash before basket 19. (great 2nd offbalance shot)
2 great drives on 23, but 2 lowsy up shots. (two 4's)
Hitting a stradle put from behind the tree on 23D for the bird.
After taking a 9 at the Texas 10 on hole #24, I took a 5 on Saturday and got the BIRD today.
Having a GREAT 1st shot by the short tee on #25 and then OVERTHROWING the upshot to #26 fairway.
Parking #28 in the final round
Taking advantage of the cement not being OB on #16 and rolling to the pin. Too bad I missed the 30ft uphil putt. (the cement should have been OB, and the skateboarders should have been asked not to goof around there today)
After hitting a tree on #11 in the first round, I parked the hole in the 2nd round.
#13, I hit an early tree, drove my upshot into the ground almost to the low limb tree guarding the basket. From my knee I threw a falling putt to try to get too the basket. BANG it went right into the chains for my 3. (felt like an ace and was my longest shot in the basket this weekend, nearly 2 times as long as my next longest putt.
On thing I have to work on is my putting and upshots. They were so week this weekend. If I hit half of the putts I missed, I would have been right there with Jerry.

Sounds like everything went great, wish i could've been there. Get to look at my x-rays tomarrow. Hopefully it's just a slight strain of some tendons!! I'll go nuts if it's too serious..Sorry to Brian andd all staff that I couldn't make it. I know that there could've been someone to take my place, But not being able to walk after Friday night kinda put a damper on chunking 4 rounds :( I can't wait to see scores on the re-adjusted format, sounds like it was a great weekend regardless of the sorry weather!!!

A triple-circle 8 will just ruin a good round (and tournament, as it turned out).
You're preaching to the choir, Rooster. :(
Thanks, Brian and staff. Y'all did a great job with the last minute adjustments that had to be made due to the weather.
ditto that I took a 9 and it was my last hole on the final round too :D

Same goes from me!!!! Mother Nature tryed to stop it but you guys rolled with the punches well! I heard a rumor that an open player quit when they heard the first round was going to 27 holes instead of 36. Oh well, if they did they missed a whole lot of fun. By the way for those of you keeping score, Hole #4: Deuce first round :D Double circle 7 second. :( Once again, Thanks to all of the staff on a job well done. See ya next year!!!! :D

Live Oak Summer Open
Wow, what a roller coaster ride this event was! Friday Night the skies open up and deluge the course with water. Players meeting was scheduled for 10am, but by this time the rains were coming down hard and heavy. The city staffer came in and said if it rains for much longer they are going to barricade the roads. At this point 15 or so holes are under water in one capacity or another. With heavy hearts, we decided to cancel the first round entirely, and reconvene for a 12:30 players meeting. By 11:30 the skies were clearing and a little sun peeked out. By 12:30 the water had receded enough for us to patch together 27 playable holes. We printed new cards for 123 players. There were a few long walks between holes, but only had a few complaints. Most were happy to be playing and not sitting around. 1pm Round 1 kicked off. About 4 hours later, cards came rolling in, and we posted scores within a few minutes. We set a players meeting for 8:30am Sunday morning to reevaluate the weather. I arrived at 7am Sunday, and it was beautiful and the radar was clear! Game on! We went back to the original format and played two 18 hole rounds. A few holes and tee boxes were realigined to keep players from playing in the water soaked areas. 2nd Round teed off on time at 9am and finished around 11:30 just in time for a great lunch from Texas Roadhouse. After lunch the 3rd round teed off on time at 1:30pm. After the last card was turned in from the 3rd round we had a $150 ace race to give a preview of the $30,000 hole in one that Chris Himing will have at the Texas Ten final in Live Oak 9/23 and 9/24. 120+ players threw and the 8 or so closest (too close to call) rethrew. Then two were left and still too close to call (no string available), and they rethrew again with Joe Rotan taking the $150. The awards ceremony and pick your own payout went off as scheduled with only one complaint regarding advanced women payout.
I want to thank all the players who stuck it out this weekend. With all the hard work we put in to this event and months of prep work, it would have been a shame to see yall leave early, and we are grateful the majority of you didnt!
We had a terrific staff this year as always with Laura Karshis, James Pellman, Keith Baker, Van Mason, Chris Himing and Kat Bender. Many others helped as well... Michaella Steele (who swept and mopped the muddy youth building at the end of the event, thanks!!) And Jim Bob Karshis figuring out how to stuff all that stuff back into my cargo van.
We also had a ton of sponsors starting with our title sponsor the Disc Golf Association. Thanks DGA!! Other sponsors included...RT Evans, David McKibbin, Evan McKibbin, Chevaun McKibbin, Jerry "El Chile" Perez, Wade Dauner, Brian Paschal, Dr. Greg Buser, Isaac D. Chacon, Paul Taylor, Corey Peschke, Tony and Kat Bender, Sports Unlimited, Texas 10 Charity Tour, Waterloo Disc Goilf Club, Round Rock Disc Golf Club, Twin Parks Country Club, KZEP Radio, Flying Solo, Gateway Disc Sports, Disc Golf Association, Texas Roadhouse Restaurant, Circle 786 Ice House, Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance, Twisted Flyer, Third Coast, Bryan James with Mr. Jims Pizza and Gotta Go Gotta Throw. If I missed you, let me know, as many came up and donated merchandise to the spectacular raffle.
Thanks for putting up with me for another year! We are already talking about next years format and event, so stay tuned!

Thanks Brian and everyone for a fun and eventfull weekend. I will really miss Live Oak. September 23-24 will be a blast I promise.
Where else around could you get that amount of rain and flood and still play a few hours later. I can still picture the looks on the faces of the people that while the water was up near the park road I told that we will be playing in a few hours. Have to love Live Oak.
And to those few that showed at 9am and expected to enter the tournament after it was full for a few days....Told you so :p
Message to the TD: I have a basket in my car I want to trade for a few discs.
Thanks again Brian, staff and Live Oak.

I had a great time this weekend and just want to thank Brian and his staff for all the work it took to run this tournament. Believe me when I say that the players notced and appreciated what it takes to redo everyones cards and shift the course enough to make it playable. Well Done!
