My Revolution golf bag is coming apart after 6-7 months of use and was curious if anybody else had the same problem.

The frame is pushing through the bottom of the bag on all four corners, and the divider in the middle of the bag broke off.

I thought these bags were supposed to be the cream of the crop, but I guess I was wrong.

I would say contact them... Which revolution bag did you get?

I had my first revolution bag (TE team bag)for 2 HARD years of use and it showed maybe the slightest wear on the bottom, I was even able to resell it for a good amount of money.

Like I said, I would contact them and see if there is anything they can do for you. When you say divider, do you mean the one on the frame? That really isnt anything to do with the bag itself, the frame is nice but it is definately not bulletproof!

i haven't had any problems with mine...bummer! revolution will sell you a replacement frame for around $15 if you already have a bag, but i guess that doesn't help with the bottom of the bag. haven't seen that problem with anyone else's revolution, either.

I've seen that happen, but the owner was a bag-thrower.

It happens to the bags without the truck vinyl bottoms. The frame pushes through the bottom of the bag. I put a folded towel at the bottom of the bag to cushion the frame. I've seen someone else with a leather patch sewn to the bottom of theirs.

Good point... it must not have been a Texas or Carolina Team Bag....

Try adhering some duct tape to the sharp edges of the frame. It may buy you some more lifespan.

My Texas team bag when I got mine did not have the truck vinyl on the bottom at the time. The wear on the bottom I had was probably a small "hole" almost going through after 2 hard years.

My Texas bag has the same problem with the frame wearing through the bottom but it's only on one corner.

There is an embroidery shop across from my work, the gal in there said she could cover the bottom of the bag entirely with thick vinyl or leather.

Rev frames are pure junk. I think I had mine in my bag for three days before throwing it in the dumpster. The bag works perfect without the frame, you just gotta use some extra towels to keep the discs from moving around. IMO the Santa Cruz bag is much better/more durable than a revolution.

Exactly what Junnila said.

I set a square piece of plastic at the bottom of the bag so the discs won't stretch the material out. It's supposed to be a very durable bag but I'm going to help it out as much as I can. Even cutting out a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom should help make the bag last longer. The frame takes up too much room anyway.

Im shocked that your, easy money, bag wears out fast!

I ve brought mine at the 99 Worlds, Rochester and it still hold the discs strong! The only wear of the bag is fading color :D

Yes, I've had my bag for about a year & 1/2 and it's starting to wear through at all 4 corners of the frame. Everyone I know that has these and plays a lot has the same problem. Of course they started to put the truck vinyl on the bottom right after I got mine. It's still one of the nicer bags out there and other brands if loaded heavily will wear out quicker. I think I'll try duct tape on the frame corners and put a towel on the bottom to slow it down. good luck

Is the truck vinyl bottom available only on the Carolina bags?

dave9921
Jan 26 2006, 04:02 PM
Hey-

We've got the truck vinyl bottoms on all of our full-sized bags now. The Carolina and Texas TEAM Bags have two layers and the PRO and CLUB Bags have a single layer.

The truck vinyl on the CLUB Bags is new for 2006 and goes a long way toward improving the only point of wear issue that seems to be mentioned regarding our bags.

I am proud of the quality of the products that carry the REVOLUTION name and we are constantly working to improve their durability and usefulness. Does that mean that they will ever be impervious to wear and tear from regular use? Not possible. Does that mean that they will last as long as possible for our players? Absolutely.

Thanks,

-Dave

I had an innova deluxe bag and the stitching ripped off on one of the straps after a couple months. I was set to buy a revolution bag but ended up getting a DISCRAFT deluxe bag in an ace race. 6 months of HEAVY abuse and the thing is as good as new. :D

I'd like a revolution, I can't stand the QC problems of the innova bags (4 in 3 years). innova was very, VERY concerned when I started posting on here about their flaws...said to send pictures and they'd rectify the problem.
If by "rectify", they meant, "not return emails or phone calls" then problem solved.:(

I just bought a bowling bag for $25. holds 30#, 18 discs, and is made of the same quality cordura the innova, discraft, and gateway bags are....

BUT I'D STILL LIKE A REVOLUTION BAG!!!!

I just wish I could pput my hands on one before I send the money off. :(

I have a TX bag and have played 25+ tournements with mine and it is still like new. The divider is still in mine and there is no no sign of damage.
I used to have the Innova tour bag, but mine came apart. I sent an e-mail to innova east and they told me to return the bag. No more than two weeks later I had a brand new bag.

Just buy a GATEWAY BAG! I have had one Revolution bag and it wore out in about 6 months, and I also had a Innova that lasted about the same. Since then all I have used is Gateway bags. I have had my backpack bag for 9 months and there is absolutely no wear on is and I drop it pretty hard when playing, slide it on the ground, and even sit on it.

Of all I have owned (Gateway, Revolution, Innova and Discraft) my Revolution bag, 6months old and my Gateway Tour bag, 4-5yrs old are still the best on the market

The solid bottom on my Revolution is amazing

Haven't tried out the Santa Cruz yet, but that looks more like luggage to me...a little too much bag for my tastes

Dave does travel, but you will get the best bag you can find...

will you be at CH this weekend...?

Jan 27 2006, 01:10 AM
I think that the Revolution bags are the best on the market. I've had mine for 4 years and the only problem was the rack poking through the bottom. Mine is an original Team bag and that problem was easily fixed with a piece of plastic corrugate placed under the rack. You can find this usually on the side of the road in the form of political signs. Mine has "Shelby for Vice Mayor" on it. You get the picture. I know that the recent bags have a beefier bottom, but I would still put the plastic corrugate in for extra measure.

I just got a carolina bag for christmas from my girlfriend an I'm very pleased with it so far..

I had a seam rip on my Quads that i ordered 2 weeks after I got the bag, but that's a different story and the seam seems to be only decorative.

I am very Satisfied with the Gateway Backpack bag. I had mine for over 2 years and I play a lot of discgolf and I never had a problem with any seams or anything.. the dividers just started to fall apart, but i'm sure that i could hotglue it together.
The only problem I had was that one of the straps started to rip on the inside, but that was the side that i always would have on and off my shoulder constantly..

My Revolution bag is 3 years old; I noticed signs of wear within a few months but took immediate precautions. I cut heavy thick vinyl from an old luggage bag to fit the bottom of my golf bag to disperse the weight distribution away from the frame pieces. Ever since then, I have noticed an even wear on the bottom. I have to point out that this problem is not isolated to just Revolution, but most bags. I had to do the same thing to my old Wall City bag years back. Hope this helps in the future.

I have a question;

Why doesn't the Team bags come with a four point connection system for quad shocks? With the four point system I noticed less bounce when I was carrying my bag around the course. Plus, it equally distributes weight on the upper portion of the bag making tears even less likely in that area.

(I am on my third, innova tour bag, Harold D. has replaced my everytime it ripped, once after 2 months, once after 1 week) But the four point connection system may keep me from buying a revo.

bfunkyp
Jan 29 2006, 03:40 PM
Rev does have 6 points where you can connect your Quads. ON both sides there is a ring on top and a nylon loom (very very durable) in the front and the back. If you are looking at the bag from the front, the connectors are on both sides of the putter pocket. If you are looking at the bag from the back, the connectors are right on the edge of the padded back.

When I originally got my bag I didn't realize this. I played in a tourney with some people who also had Revs and noticed how they had their bags set up. I changed mid round and it was so much more comfortable.

Having seen numerous Innova tour bags fall apart, I wouldn't hesitiat to spend the extra money on the Rev.

Thanks,

I inspected my buddies Revo today, and see what you were talking about. I just did not notice that, I was looking for plastic connectors like on the top.

As far as my tour bag is concerned. I have been told by the owners of Innova that I must have gotten two lemon bags. They have been absolutely great in getting me replacements. Infact, one was overnighted in time for a very big tournament last year. So while I am on the third Innova bag, my wife has only purchased one for me.

But the next bag I eventually get, if this current bag falls apart, will be a Revolution Team bag, what ever the newest state is at that time. With Deano and MattO around, maybe there will be an Alabama Team Bag.
