You mean putting the disc , upsidedown ?

Regular grip , thumb inside the rim ? Done this before.

Done this many a times into the wind or to slide the disc under the basket. The key I've found is not to put your thumb into the disc(rim) but put your thumb on the edge of the disc(lip) which would normally be facing down. It works, try it. The only thing the disc can do is go down.

And it slides on the nubs of the rim sometimes and doesn't hang up !!!

I've heard of it and actually seen it. No one who has any sort of confidence in their putt would waste a stroke doing it.

I have done it a few times and chrishysell is 100% spot on.

Done it for years. Most useful for putting over bushes, and in high winds. Limited range, but when in the right circumstances, it's a no brainer. A little turnover, and good spin, it goes up and right down.

Chris are you talkin' about me? And you are correct about not trusting the putt stroke! I put upside down with a gumputt. I do it when going down hill as the putt stroke for the upside down is similar to a drop putt if I miss the putt the disc (99%) is laying underneath...no 80' comeback putt for the 3!

I do it alot, because I have confidence. Its also my no.1 out shot in horse. Upside down straddle from 40ft......Chris just lost.

It was meant for Teescum. I never said I haven't done it. If I need the disc to fall quickly over a bush or fence, I'm more likely to throw an overhand. Same thing, only it goes from left to right.

Horse? Is that like D-I-S-C?

Yeah. I think it would actually be isnt "disc" like "horse". Same game though.

The two times I used it in a tourney I missed, but the main reason I threw the shot it worked, I stayed out of trouble. Will continue to practice for those situations.

I have done it before into the wind! You should really go and practice first. I think you should aim alittle higher and to the right. If you miss, you are right next to the basket. Good shot in windy conditions!

:DHolding the disc , upsidedown for a righthanded player.
Putt the disc with a slight turnover angle as the disc will tend to break to the left. :D

Done this several times with different speeds.
It works , but you really need to be confident on the release and accuracy.

Yes. Wind and extreme downhill. As this is an up and down style putt so the disc does not go very far past the basket.
I use an old gumputter for this purpose.

It is a very good putt into the wind. And Geo is correct. Putt with your thumb ON the rim, not inside it...this allows for a smooth consistent release. Another hint, putt a little stronger than usual...upside-down discs don't have a lot of glide.

One of our local Masters players here in St Louis, Billy Downs, has putted like that every time he's on the green since I've known him. He wins and cashes a lot, he attributes it to his Ultimate playing somehow. I'd like to say it isn't referred to as Downs Syndrome here but I cannot. Soft Aviars I think.

That story would be more believable if I could find him listed in the membership directory.

Good detective work. Now it's a very believable story. If I want my player rating to drop 60+ points i'll start putting upside down.
