Someone PLEASE tell Rob Brown to play Advanced. Come on Greenville!!! Let your boy know its time to move up. He is at 914 one more point.

Why  He's only played one year and still hasn't won a tourny in intermediate yet. As long as his rating allows and he's not racking up wins then he should be able to play int. without the bagger status. If he wins then you can rag him about moving up. :)

It is possible I can host some out of towners in the New Bern area during this event. PM me.

Joseph
Feb 15 2006, 10:23 PM
Yeah...I hate to say it but somebody has to. It is really up to the player as long as they are within the point totals to make the call. People yell out bagger because they have heard others say and they think it is like some kind of initiation into the disc golf brotherhood. Like Okie Rob, I have been playing since last December and would like to belt a Intermediate win. If points end up not allowing me to then so be it. That is my immediate disc golf goal and it is Rob's as he has talked to me about it. We will be playing advanced soon enough. Save the "bagger" tag for those folkes that have stayed around the intermediate seen too long or have played on and off again for Gosh knows how long. Were on the way just be patient we will be on your card before you know it. If the more advanced players want to see us up an coming up then take some extra time teaching us a few tricks of the trade, give us a few pointers and we will help you and our clubs represent Down East Disc Golf and the invasion with excellence....G.I. JOE......out.

scottknapp
Feb 15 2006, 11:41 PM
Joe, With all due respect. You and Rob both are ready for the competition at the advanced level. No one is rushing you, we are pushing you to play your best. You will not play your best in the intermediate division. I know that according to the rules it is up to the player what division he or she plays in as long as his or her rating approves of that division. But, come on, he is a 914 rated player and you are 907. In my humble opinion you are slowing your progression as a player by stalling on moving up. Joe, you also are saying that the advanced players need to show you a few tricks of the trade. How are they supposed to do that if you aren't on the card with them, because you are playing in the Int. division. And as for Down East Disc Golf. No one wants to see the growth of the sport and the players Down East more than I do. I just think it would help your game if you and Rob moved up. Please don't take this like I am attacking you and Rob. I love my Down East brothers. So, on that note, good luck next weekend. I wish you the best no matter what division you play. And you won't ever hear me call you or anyone a bagger. (but if you win INT, I will introduce you as NCs newest advanced player :D)

p.s.
Thank for the use of the flags. You know that if there is anything the Knapps can do for the Kings, just let us know.

Locally, K-town, I don't have anyone to teach me about some of the things I would like to know. I am thankful that Joey and I are able to push each other a little on the course but that is about it. I agree that my game will improve when I move up and I'm sure I will move up soon. Maybe real soon! We will see what next weekend has in store. I am more than glad for you to use the flags I made. Brian,

I have been throwing X-Avengers for distance. On 3, 9, 14, 15 & 16 (at Zeb) I threw an X-Avenger first and then tried to concentrate on throwing the Surge about the same. The Surge exceeded the distance of the Avenger every time. Usually by only about 30 to 40 feet but for me any additional distance is a bonus.

On hole 3 the Surge went past the baseball field score board.

Monty,

did the new change in the OB rule come in to play on any of your shots? i am wondering how the change will play out at a course like richlands with a lot of OB

also Mr. Knapp just an idea for you that i am sure you have considered but i am wondering. if the OB line as stated in PDGA rules has no thickness will we play the outside of the line or the inside of the line as OB? last time i checked painted lines have width. Holla

Feb 22 2006, 10:34 AM
the line is OB. if any part of the disc is touching IB, the disc is IB. if the disc is on the OB side and touching the line, but not touching IB, the disc is OB.

bgwvdave

Monty,

No, the shots I threw O.B. were no-doubters. Knapp did show me how the rule change will add a few more strokes to some totals. TThe REal summed it up nicely.

When you think about it, the rule change kind of goes against the grain of sports O.B. rules. In sports where you "carry" the ball like football and basketball the line is OUT. In sports where you throw or hit the ball like baseball or tennis the line is IN. I would put disc golf into the second category because you don't advance the object with your feet, you throw it.
Just my 2 cents.

TThe miTTenZZ flick will be put on hold for I'm guessing a year...which really blows considering that I've been killing my flick lately. Tried about a 50 foot flick at kentrock Sunday and it shot pain all through it. So I guess I'll just stick to all righty/lefty backhands. Boooo no more flick. For that matter, no more thumbers or hammers, which are hardly used but work well when I need them.

congrats to the winners and thanks to all those who spotted.

as always, thanks to scott and moe for a successfull weekend.

I am still in shock about one thing.

There was not a playoff - every freakin Knapp event has one. I missed watching JJ and Schweb play 5 more holes.

Miserable? I had a blast! Except for one hole in the first round today...other than that it was great. I'm glad my last NC tournament (for the next few years at any rate) was a Knappy Brand event, the best kind in the land! Thank you Moe and Scott for putting me up, letting me play poker and take second, and for everything you two do for the sport. You made my first ever sanctioned event in NC a blast (One Moe in 2004) and my last sanctioned event in NC great!
Thanks to all the NC boys and girls for making my last year and a half great! I'll be back to visit some day.

And great shooting Schweb, nice win. :)

crazy memory kicking in....

your first NC event was actually the Fall Disc Golf Classic in 2004. I remember this b/c me u and cracken played together the first round and, as schweb noted, your sarcasm and wit was great.

This was the imfamous "50 50 you either hit it or you don't" tournament

Whatev, it was still a Knappy Brand event. And yeah, it's always 50/50, either you hit that stump or you don't. He hit it, I didn't.
You're right, I remember now that was the first time I met you and wondered to Hofmann and a couple others, "Who the hell is that really loud obnoxious guy?"

still my favorite quote in my 13 years (notice I actually acknowledge how long I've been playing even though I probably played a total of 5 times the first 2 years) of disc golf.

Wish I could have come down this weekend for a Knappy Event, but the upcoming wedding has my schedule limited for this year.

The only events I am definately playing are
Azalea
Sneeky Peete
Oak Hollow
Points Bonanza(Reedy Creek and whatever Sunday's tourny is this year)

Maybe I can make it down to 1 Moe/2 Moe this year.

Great event & great fun as usual. I hoped that I would never have to re-live the conditions of CPWO '03, but Sunday morning was very close. Congrats to Schweb, Shumate, & Noble for their wins and to my boy Rory for a top 3 finish in Pro. My extra tobaggan was the key to keeping his game hot.
