We are seriously considering the disc golf cruise, and we are talking about flying out there Friday so we can play some courses on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. (Ship departs at 5:00 PM Monday.)

For those in the know, what would be your suggestions for a mini-Florida tour that ends up at Port Canaveral? We're thinking of flying into Orlando and out of Melbourne.

I would suggest trying to fly into tampa if you can find comparable flights. That way you can work your way from tampa to melbourne through orlando. The only problem would be if you are planning on flying back from Tampa, the drive from port canaveral to tampa can be quite boring. Actually, driving in Florida is pretty boring anyway.

Otherwise if you wanna fly into orlando there are plenty of courses there, just not any along the way. Also I would stay away from Tuscawilla park in Daytona Beach unless you go with a big group or on a weekend when you know lots of people are going to be there.

I just got the letter in the mail yesterday about the cruise and my hubby and I are going for sure! I just need some more details and wondered who else is goin! It's gonna be a blast! We never really got a honey moon after our wedding so this will be a nice belated Honey Moon for us! And there is no better way to spend it than with a bunch of Disc Golfers on a cruise!! lol

some new additions to old courses so here you go......
Orlando-
Gordon Barnett: (two)18-holes, diverse layout, PRO and am tees, lots of park ammenities, pro shop.
Turkey Lake: $2, 36-holes, tees half concrete/ rest carpet, great new holes which offer total variety and a few unique shots!! Greg Hosfeld design(canyon). This course USED to be easy.

Daytona-
Tuscawilla: 18-holes, many pin locations, lots of shade, pretty park with questionable park goers, water on a couple holes, opened up a little from storm damage.

Melbourne-
Wickham: 18-holes, hosts the NT, though that is a much tougher layout, many palmettos and usually pretty windy.

Ocala-
The Greenway: 20-holes, huge park with big holes, some mild elevation changes, bring extra water!

Brooksville-
The Canyon: 27-holes, private property, amazing property with a really cool course, drastic elevation changes, few fast putting greens, gorgeous views, quiet.

If you have more time.....
Cliff Stephens in Clearwater
Taylor Park in Largo
Northside in Gainesville
Fore Palms in Jacksonville

Sarasota has short, beautiful "roc" courses. There are always willing golfers in Clearwater and Sarasota.

Hey Rhett, I saw you booked your flight, when are you flying in/out.

I have not figured out when I am going to fly yet. (although at 1200 miles, I don't think I am going to drive. At 17mpg it would take 141 gallons of gas round trip. At current USA average, that would cost $320 and take 15/17 hours each way. Add motel costs and we would not really be saving any money driving)

it is cool that you are going. We will have to do lunch/dinner or go out for a drink (coke for me).

Maybe because it seemed pointless since you still haven't answered my question asking why you are on the east coast. :)

haven't really thought about itactually...
dawn likes crusies.....i HATE them(don't like being trapped on a boat with nowhere to go if having a bad time)...but if there was ever a time to go on one this would be it as dawn and i could both have a good time!!....
if we do go we could possibly pick up you and the jamisons and drive you around to all the courses and to the ship...would save alot on car rental and gas,and i already know where all the courses are :D....keeping you from missing the cruise when you get lost

:D

if you're interested let me know!

That time of the year again.......Off to see my sister in sunny & warm Boca Raton, FL.

Does anyone know anything about:

Easterlin Park?
http://www.pdga.com/course/courses_by_city.php?id=1641

I've played Tradewinds Park several times now. About time to see a new course close by. Can anyone share any info about local mini tournaments?

I play Easterlin all the time when I'm in FL. It is the opposite of Tradewinds, shorter more technical holes. A pond comes into play on 3 holes and there are alot of trees on the back 9. If you hit the window you can park a mid, if not, hello bogey. I don't know if they have tee signs yet. If not the locals can show you around they're a good bunch. Have fun!!

Ahoy!

The Island Hoppin', Cocktail Sippin', Disc Golfin' Cruise if FILLING FAST!

The passenger list has swollen to 88 having paid deposits, 59 of which have registered for the tournament on Royal Caribbean's private island, CocoCay! THAT LEAVES ONLY 13 REMAINING TOURNAMENT SPOTS!

If you're on the fence, then you'd better act quickly if you'd like to be a part of this fun, inaugural event! Check out the cruise website for more info:
www.etherbinge.com/cruise.htm (http://www.etherbinge.com/cruise.htm)

Once the tournament fills Cruiseworld will still be reserving cabins for those that'd like to be a part of the group. For those that aren't a part of the tournament, the course will be open for 45-60 minutes in between rounds if you just want to get a quick round in.

For those that aren't able to make this cruise: we have begun to plan for the second disc golf cruise in 2007. Any feedback on dates and destinations will be taken into consideration as we work through the planning process.

Also, as Shawn mentioned earlier, we are considering doing a casual one-day event on Sunday, December 3rd as a Bon Voyage Party! We'd like to get some feedback on this one. Basically our options are:
1) Play the original Fly-18 Space Coast layout in Titusville with Mach-Lites
2) Play Wickham Park in Melbourne
3) Play Turkey Lake or Barnett Park in Orlando
