happy Birthday dave
Thanks CW. Did you notice that you'll be playing 4 straight
rounds with no cut this year? I hope you''ll be able to make it. I'm considering having the open play two full rounds from the blues.

2 from the blues. you are making it very tempting :D
danniestacey
Jan 19 2006, 09:51 AM
2 from the blues would be awesome
Danny, will you and Bobby make it down here...or is there something going on in your neck o the woods? It's been at least 5 years since we've played 4 straight no cut. Should be fun for some and endurance for others.

Jan 20 2006, 10:14 AM
Dave, what is the tentative plan for Ma1? will we play blues twice also?
danniestacey
Jan 20 2006, 10:17 AM
I will definitly be there. Bobby plans on coming as well as one or two others.
Good to hear we'll have you guys back out here. The course should be nice this year. With little rain not so good for the grazing beasts but good for the discgolf beasts.

Jan 20 2006, 12:24 PM
Sounds like a perfect scenario on the perfect course....definitely looking forward to it!
Harry. Will you be assisting with the spreadsheet work again? To any and all. Please email
[email protected] with your staffing resume:) if you are interested in staffing. I am looking for quality somewhat "sober" staff to help with this event. I have lost several key members of my usual staff . Thanks for your interest.

hey dave,
i'm not sure if i can play this one, sunday is a big day in my marriage. might be able to do some work but will be a ordeal....we'll see.
I ain't doing no mowing :D
Okay, maybe I will :p
No mowing necessary. Drought conditions and beasts will keep the grass down. Metal, don't stress the marriage over the Show. My anniversary is the 23rd of that week. Julie is not to happy about the change in weekends either. Some of the tree trimming I'm doing is going to help the night golf, sorry Mike.
harry
Jan 31 2006, 10:26 AM
I'm sure you will have the course in great condition as always :D
I had some typos on the other form. Also, the ace pot is $4.00. We are playing 4 rounds, no cut! A return to the original format for the tournament.

Lil Bit, not sure about the turnout. One sure way to boost your division is to sign up early. That always encourages the others to play. If you end up not playing...I give full refunds to those that let me know prior to the first day of the event.
Currently, we have two women signed up: Susan Macaluso, adv and Emily Brown pro. Ladies, give Red Rock a try. We think you'll love it out here.

You need to try and recruit some of the LOLO's or ladies from Temple. Otherwise, we'd love to have you join us in Advanced. I know that Laura Hovey should be signing up soon and there are a few other Austin area ladies who should be around. Michele, Shannon and maybe Jenn Beazley. Maybe we can get Jennifer Perry and Jessica De Bray to come out and support FW2. Nothing like playing up to improve your game. (that's what they keep telling me!)
No, if you look back at past years, we have a few ladies, but not tons. It's almost like you have to bring your girls with you. :D Maybe Moody will allow one person divisions, Dave?

Dave, what is the camping deal. Is it extra? I noticed today that I can't play Texas States so I am trying to fill in with another tournament.
I would eithere drive down LATE friday night or on Saturday morning.
As soon as I know more, I will pay on titledisc.com if I can still get in.
Come on down Pizza. There is no extra charge for camping.
More entries were taken at the park tonight and on titledisc today. Julie and I look forward to having everyone out.

yeah, I think Dave said 1 round Ians (the "reverse" setup), 1 round whites, and 2 rounds blue. Unless Dave is like that kid in the comics with a storm cloud over his head, I bet there ain't much water in the ponds, but there is still time. ;)

Glad to hear it Kent. One more reminder about sign ups...we will not be signing people up on Saturday morning. If you can not make it here until then please mail or titledisc your entry in advance. This will make for a smooth and timely start to the event. Campers, no one is to drive across the number #1 fairway. All vehicles driving to their camps will follow the gravel road towards the big barn and then cut into the camping area. The only vehicle allowed to go through #1 will be the folks in the cabin. Visitors(friday or sat) to the cabin area are advised to park in the camp area or by the driving range and walk to the cabin. Thank you for respecting the property, and your fellow golfers fairway lie.

Ok, it is 256 miles from my house to Moodys. That is 512 miles round trip. I get about 16.5 MPG on the highway in my truck. That is about 31gal of gas. Current price average in Texas is $2.44gal. That is about $75 in gas to drive to this tournament (shoot my entry fee was $78)
I would like to drive down Saturday morning. I would like to be on the road at 4am to get there in time.
Sunrise is at 630am.
I could leave sometime between 8 and 9pm on Friday night.
What I would like is to share a ride from the DFW area. We could take my truck or your auto. (specially if it gets better gas milage.
I may just drive down on Friday night and sleep in the back of my truck for the night.

Just to let everyone know I was out there playing in the rain last weekend. The course is beautiful!! There is some bull neddle in the back corner so watch out for that. I tried to kill what I came up to. The water is real low but it's still out there. Blue #2 has about a 10ft beach next to the pin. The fairways are nice and short but have wild flowers so sorry for all you rollers out there. One more thing, Daisy decided to leave a gift on two tee boxes so I would watch out for any piles before you tee off. Other than that look forward to an awesome course this weekend.

guessing it will keep others away also

yes, plenty of room and time for the PROcrastinators...I agree, $60 does seem steep, but I still might play.

Mar 21 2006, 03:15 PM
come on, how about some more Masters. El Chilli, where are you???
What about Shannon, can he play two weekends in a row???
Surely there are a few more Austin area Masters who an make it out this weekend.
I actually got out and putted in the back yard yesterday. 1st time I picked up a disc sense ZBoaz. I have been working too much.

come masters play...open
james_mccaine
Mar 21 2006, 03:54 PM
As long as we fill, I am sticking to masters. It's folly for me to try to compete against crushers on the blues out there. Shannon said he will not be there. Know se about El Chi le.

To bad about Shannon, I like playing with him.
Well at least there are 3 of us now. It would be cool if we could get at least 2 more for a full card.
I too don't want to play Open anymore. Too many young guns. And as the Big Show showed me, I still have a hard time playing 4 rounds in one weekend.

Mar 21 2006, 04:44 PM
heck I'll go ahead and play masters
bigbadude
Mar 21 2006, 04:50 PM
your better off playing open because that's where the money is the money the the masters payout is weak, Dave and other td's ( B. James ) rarely ever throw the masters a bone . :(
ozdisc
Mar 21 2006, 04:53 PM
Jerry, in defense of other TD's the PDGA is pushing for age protected divisions like Masters not to get added money. All the added money will go to Open and Women. If you want the money play Open, if you want to take it easy and enjoy the company of others your age play Masters.
james_mccaine
Mar 21 2006, 05:16 PM
I agree that most or all of the added money should go to the open divisions, but that money should be used to pay deeper rather than just the top guys. That is a much more effective incentive for marginal people to play higher.
Bryan, playing with Shannon is over-rated. :D jk. I tried to convince him, but failed.
Vinnie, cool beans. I get to play against a recent champ whose team didn't even make the ncaa tournament. :p
Pizza God
Mar 21 2006, 05:39 PM
I agree with Chris, the PDGA and James. Added money should go to the top division. (however, I always thank a TD when they add money to the Masters division)
And Vinnie, it would be nice to play with you.
I was going to play the Pecan Open and then play Texas States this year, however, next weekend is a camp out with the Boy Scouts and I have to go with my son. Then on Texas States weekend, there is the last Cub Scout camp out where my son Bridges over to Boy Scouts. Even though he told me I could go to States, I think it is more important that I be at the camp out.
So I am playing this weekend instead :D (actually I am glad about that, I have been wanting to play Red Rock for years)

thats 75 players is there a cap
Good question Mitch...We are nearing the flux cap, right now I'm thinking 85 so that leaves 9 spots to go. I will not commit to taking anymore than that as I have learned my lesson about the majical apprearance of players at my players meetings that I promised a spot and did not have a card for:).
Currently, Bastrop Co. is not under a burn ban. We will allow small campfires at campsites. Please, do not dig a pit to build your campfire in. Build it safely on the ground, monitor your campfire and do not put your ciggy butts and trash in it. No glass bottles of anything on the property without prior consent from the land barron.
Please follow the gravel road towards the big barn when heading to set up your camp, go to your camp, go to the store and back from your camp, go to the players meeting from your camp....do not drive across the #1 fairway to access your campsite, whew. Please use the Red Rock General Store in downtown Red Rock, they are a continued sponsor. They are across from the post office in Red Rock.
The doubles Friday will be started up by Sheldon at the pro shop begining at 3:00pm, tee no later than 4:30pm is advised.
Blue tees for advanced divisions and above, White tees for any Int. Am division or below. $20.00 per team to be paid out at the awards on Sunday.
More questions answered tonight, off to work. If you want the last few spots in the event please email
[email protected] and I will take them in order of receipt and confirm tonight. Now, off to work.

1st round scores are on PDGA tour. Seems to be smooth so far. Beautiful weather. Notice the -11 by Olse, he shot a 45. Ian's course is rated 56 par on the PDGA tour scoring page. All rounds played on the blues out here will be 60 par, whites and red tees are 54. FYI for the dis board folks.

It was considerably windier today than it was yesterday, but another couple of great rounds at Moody's today.
Olse won Open --- he led wire to wire, too. What is that, like 5 wins in a row for Olse?
Ian Hovey won Advanced by an easy 6 strokes or so, and I think would have cashed in third in Open.
Des won Women's Open.
Not sure on the other divisions.

Just wanted to let the Pro Masters know why I left the tourn. early Sun. morning. My 17 yr old son's life long best friend died in a car accident early Sat. morning, my family wasn't able to get a call to me, due to cell phones don't seem to get work well in the boonie, until late Sat. nite, so I stay the nite and left early Sun. morning. I was having a great time playing with the Pro Masters for the first time, I was taking it pretty easy with them cause I knew I couldn't cash so I could keep my Am. status until after Am. Worlds this July, but after July I'm going Pro, and the hammer will be coming down on them. Thanks Dave for another well run tourney, hope to see you in October. Thanks Q for those great meals. And thanks to Todd for sharing his campfire with me, had a great time with all.
P.S. Todd, tell Michelle Williams not to procrastinate when signing up for tourneys, they fill way too fast these days. Hope to see everyone at Pecan Park or Tx. States soon.

Thank Mr. Moody, I had a great time even though I putted like #$*&$!.
Sorry I didn't stick around for the Awards, but I had that long drive home and was already tired out from playing two days in a row on a long course.
Kent, Richard and Graham, I enjoyed playing with you guys this weekend. (oh yea, and Jamie, he got stuck with us masters in the first round)
Next time I want to play with Wes, Vinnie and James, but I can't do it till I get my putter and upshot working. I need to play more than once every few months.
Either way, I put this tournament is a must play sometime. Not just for the course, but the GREAT food that Q cooked up for us. I ate like a pig this weekend and loved it. I would have gone for seconds every meal if he had let me.
As for the guys who I camped near and fed me breakfast Saturday morning and let me warm up next to there fire, thanks, I was so tired Saturday night, I fell asleep by 10pm and you guys didn't even wake me up. These guys had the most fun as could be seen by how they looked out on the course. :D

Sponsors thank you for donating goods and funds. Especially the Vinnie man and the water and oranges/grapefruit. Such a simple idea, with a positive result. Please email me your ticket numbers if you did not get a chance to check them. I'll bring the left over raffle items to the park asap. Del took some nice pics this weekend.
