Lots of updates:
This Sat. at doubles, (2PM- Hole 8), a newspaper reporter and photographer will show up to cover our magnificent disc golfing presence at Carolina's outstanding course. Make sure you follow the three basic rules of media relations: 1) no drinking (without sharing); 2) stick to the message (this course F*CKING rocks!); and 3) no bad language.
Sunday, we'll be working on the course at 11:00 starting on hole 1. We'll be putting in T-pads, clearing some holes, and dropping some alternate pin placements. We got keys to the gator and plan on building some concrete pads, so if your one of those folks who have said they want to help, HELP SUNDAY!!!
Also, there are two new courses coming together: 1) Gary Rains is pulling together the River disc golf course. They've offered the Carolina Disc Golf Club the honor of designing and building six of the holes. If you're interesting in learning more, zap me or Gary (grains@duke.edu). 2) The Cressent Christian School just approved a course. Our Club has been advising them and will be invited to help design some of the holes. They are throwing a benefit dinner Feb 1, so help if you can. I've attached the flier for folks who can make it.
Other interesting news: the "widow maker" tree on hole 11 is slated for cutting next week! Sweet! And, Matthew Smith has volunteered to run next years Tarheel Tourney!!! And, the School is working with special Ed Cherry on printing some medal signs for the great posts Ian put in last semester.
