Gimp,
I have a couple of questions, since I may actually make it to Houston for not one, but two events this year! My wife is going to a baby shower on 2/25, so I might hitch a ride and spend Saturday golfing while they do their "estrogen-filled activities." Is everyone playing on the one Powell course or playing both Powell and Wilmont? Not that it will affect my decision, I was just wondering.
Also, for the series bonus payout, is Texas States the finale? If I'm reading it right, all you have to play in is one of the series events, and you're qualified for the bonus? If so, that makes it that much more likely that I'll get to play in TX States as well. Especially if this baby is born in March when she's supposed to.
And if the Pecan Park Open is a series event too, I guess that makes 3 for the year!
Thanks
Yep you only have to play one event to qualify to take a shot at the bonus payout that will be paid at States.
Everyone will play the Powell unless registration gets CRAZY. If that happens we will make it Powell/Wilmont duece or die lmao - Hope to see you there. No time for spell check at work... :D

I'm registered. Got the results from my MRI today. It's a torn ligament in my wrist. I'm taking the physical therapy option. Hopefully, it will fix me. :D

Crazy Story
Girlfriend of mine asked me tonight if i would ride with her to Houston this coming weekend so she could visit her friend and her newborn baby (3 hour drive, so i was trying to talk my way out of it) . I asked her what part of Houston, she says Pearland. So i go to PDGA to see if there are any tournaments in Houston this weekend, and wouldnt you know it, there is one within minutes of Pearland...Tell me that is not crazy , COUNT ME IN :D:cool:Just blew my mind when i looked on Google Earth and saw Pearland (which i never even heard of) and the course (i played it once along with Wilmont) so close to each other
Sorry i had to tell this story ;)

Wow...that's my story too. I was actually excited that my wife was going out of town. I was going to play in something local, but then I saw the tournament at the Powell and said "Okay, I'll go with you now."

Pearland is right across the creek from Tom Bass.
In fact, the Hampton Inn in Pearland (http://www.texasstates.org/Lodging/lodging.html) is the host hotel of this year's Texas States DGC. :)

Similar story for me too.
My wife's birthday is Friday the 24th. I thought there's no way I'm getting out of a birthday weekend with her here in Austin.
Turns out that for her birthday she wants to go to Galveston Mardi Gras to see a couple of bands that she likes. My brother lives about 20 miles north of Galveston and about 20 miles from Tom Bass, and we're staying with them on Friday night.
I asked her if she minded if I play in the Tom Bass tournament on Saturday "since we're going to be in town anyways" --- she doesn't even flinch and says "sure, I can spend the day with Tina (my sister-in-law) and the kids".
Karma is good that way sometimes.

This weather is dreadful! Hoping for some warmer weather this Saturday. Anyone seen the forecast?
Friday:Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms (50% chance of rain). Highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 50s
Saturday: Occasional showers possible (30%). Highs in the upper 60s and lows in the low 50s.
Yep if you are there by 9:00 you are in on this one. To get a zbuzz you have to pre-reg though (or raff. tickets if you don't want a buzz).

Don't miss the Mardi Gras Jam Band staring Jake "Big Chief " Walsdorf. On stage after the parade corner of 25th st. and Ave L. Also recommend seeing Dr. John and the Wild Magnolias. All New Orleans bands!

Will the course be re-configured on the Friday before the tournament for those who are able to get in a practice round?
Rooster,
I dont know where he is putting the tees at or if they will be in on Friday but.....there are some short tees on the powell marked by blue step stones, they may or may not be what he plans to use but they are alot shorter and follow the lines on the regular powell holes. Could be a good way to practice up on Friday if the course isn't marked when you are there.
No with the way the weather is looking I will be marking the course in the dark on Friday lol. Trust me, you have ALL of these shots :D
Richard is doing a cool map, so hopefully we can post that so you can kind of see what it will be...
Anyone willing to bring a basket? We need two good ones for the holes next to the pavilion.... Pretty please

I could use some help setting them on Friday though if anyone wants to help.
when will you be out there? i have work until ~4, but hope to get out to the course after that... :D
No clue yet - we may do it morning of now... Depends on the weather really

No aces! But Matt Hall and Robbie Bratten both expressed their displeasure with Mach III's since both of them had spit-outs! It rolls over to the Pecan Park Open, and if none there, will be thrown off for there.
Gimp, I had a great time, even though the weather was not very cooperative. What was the ultimate in IRONY was literally 30 seconds after I putt out on our last hole to complete our card's second round, the sun pokes out for two minutes, then goes away again. That bastard was just laughing at us.
I'll definitely use some big persuasion to get back down there for State's this year! But first...Nac in the spring. One of the best events of the year IMO. See yall and ~$1700 ace pot there.

Congrats Matt, Robbie H, and Alex it was fun playing with you Guys! Yea me and Matt both could taste that 900 bucks i had one in the first round hole 8 skip and hit dead center chains and come right back off the pole! i was celebrating cause it was in the basket for a good second or 2! Matt hit hole 12 right in the sweet spot all the chains you can imagine and had it go right threw hang on the back lip and then fall out! Matt also Celebrated because he thought it was it! he ran about ten steps look back at the basket and saw it fall to the ground! he hit his knees right in a big puddle of water! it was awesome! ahahah Then i hit the pan on hole 16 like a 350 hyzer with the xtreme once again thought i had it! but came up short can't wait for Pecan! FUN TOURNEY~!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. What a difference a day makes, eh? Woke up this morning at my brother's house (not far from Tom Bass park), and the weather couldn't be any more perfect.
Had a hell of a good time yesterday though, despite the ugly weather. Once again, another quality Team Disaster event...well run, well organized, great course set up, timely payout, etc.
Hate that I'm going to miss Pecan Park and a shot at that ace pot, but I'll be in Bowling Green that weekend.
We have been VERY lucky over the years with weather. It really COULD have been worse lol :D

NIce shooting Matt, averaging 1040, thats impressive.
It looks like you and your dad both won, A good day for the Halls!
Matt,
Chris Boro rolled into town and already broke Justin and I's course record at Festus. He shot -14 a 56 with a bogie 2 eagles.
I just shot 59 there the other day and thought I played alomst flawless and shot 72 the same round he smoked the course. That course cant be that easy and we even moved 3 more pins into the long yesterday.
Looks like we are going to have to move them all to the long for a few weeks to see what kind of scores get shot.
I know Chris B will be pushing Justin to train more now that hes in the Lou,
Hopefully you guys will push each other for the ROY,
Make sure you get up here this summer for a month or so.

This was definantly a "Fun" event with all the rain and Mach III's around. Seriously though it went very quickly and we were out of there very early so props to Gimp on that. I have to go eat so I will post more later.
Hey Dave I will probably be flying into Minneapolis for the Minn Majestic and I will try to ride back with Chris since he said he is going. Is GG coming up?
