Avg Rating.
This would be cool to have. For a few reasons. I'm always trying to figure out people's tournament avg. Instead of doing the math in my head, why not add a column to the side that averages out the player's ratings into a single, 2 decimal place number.
Also, It's kind of cool to see what people who tied got for avg ratings.
For instance...
Schweb, Bard, and Sjur tied for 4th at Charleston.
Schweb's avg. 1012.25
Bard's avg 1015.25
Sjur's avg 1013.5
It's just nice for those stat freaks among us.
Another would be an average ROW below the last player in each division. This would summarize the average of all players in that division. The stat could be carried into player rating, round score (and rating).
What do ya think?

We've been waiting to do cool stuff like this and more for several years but we haven't had volunteers to do the programing.

I like seeing this kind of stuff too. It is especially cool at tournaments like Worlds since you can get a feeling for how players in different pools are stacking up with each other.
However, I do not think it would be good to have it published since it would add more confusion than adding anything of value in the vast majority of cases.
Like you pointed out, 3 players who tied had differing ratings. What does this show? What does it mean? Why does it matter? How does it make sense in a may that is meaningful to anyone? Tke the example you tossed out:
The only explanation I would offer drawing from the numbers that you showed is that Bard had his hot rounds when the majority was having down rounds. Visa versa for Schweb. But....the variations are in the noise level - around 0.3 throws per round different.

since the members only and google-map projects are done, for my next pdga coding project i really want to add a column to the tournament reuslts page that shows the players as-of-event-date rating. this is way more appropriate than the current rating that shows now (altho we could that one also)
i already have the code for the as-of-event rating, just need to start looking at the code that display the results.
i could add these ideas to the spec.
lemme know... i am not exactly sure who is "in charge" of the tournament results webpages.
i'd also like to add the players current rating to the list of players that comes back from a last name search. that would make tracking your competitiors a bit easier.

Gentry uploads the event results and Sullivan is taking over look and feel improvements on the web pages. Let them know you can help on the ratings issues presented. I would like to see ratings frozen as of the event, like you're proposing, for historical reasons. I haven't been able to do some calculations by using the online data that has current ratings regardless when the event was held.

It merely averages your rounds, which gives you a weekend rating. The fact that you played 2 points better than your brother simply means you had rounds that counted for more. It's not confusion, just stats. A good stat that could be gained from this would be players that had higher round ratings than people that beat them. (This could happen). Not that that would be important, but it at least offers a glimmer-sans the math at what your ratings for the weekend are. What it won;t show is averages taking into account for dropped rounds.</font>

Tke the example you tossed out: <font color="red"> Stats are stats. If you clicked on the "show round ratings button, you are intested in stats to some degree. This simply moves stats beyond "basic" into "expanded" </font>
