There are so many starfires to choose from online: SL, SX, L, X---what do all of these letters mean?

The ones with X are more overstable and the best IMO and the L's are flippier and not as consistant but supposedly fly farther. Original CFRs were X and the new PRO starfires are L's

Both my Pro Starfires have SF on the bottom . . . how does this fit in with these others ?

Ok...here is the DL on the starfires
Original Starfire was labeled as an SF. It was supposed to be a longer and slightly more overstable version of the beast.
Then in Fall of 2004 they tweaked the mold slightly and debuted a 2nd run of SFs.
Then they made the SFx(or SX) and the SL. No telling what version will be used for the Star(what a stupid name) starfires

So if I have a chance to purchase either one, it won't really matter which I choose? Also, is there a site or something where someone can learn all of this, or is it just through reading the "Ask Dave" and similar threads?

Interesting comment. I was doing well with mine until it started flipping; never did replace it. Maybe it was the name. Starfire makes me think of a Hollywood brush fire.

get a champion or sb starfire. I have a Champion Starfire-(X?) and it is like a stable orc, or long firebird. I usually throw orcs, but if I want something that wont flip, or something in the wind, i usually bust it out.

sb? and where would you get an sb starfire??? been waiting for that one to come out..........

Yup, my ($25) CFR SF is WAY more moderate-headwind predictable than my Pro's...though I prefer a Pred/F'bird for moderate to higher winds, overall.

Make sure you weren't rolling your wrist when you threw it. The first run SFs have some high speed turn. I can throw mine and it will turn over a little and then come back at the end. Now if you throw it with a little too much anhyzer, the disc won't flex out of it.
The second run Starfires were supposed to be slightly more high speed overstable that way you could put a little more power/snap without having them turnover.
I liked the pro starfire for a while until I hit too many trees. I haven't thrown a SX or SL so I can't compare those two molds to the original SF mold.
I have a couple of CFR Starfires that have SF on the bottom, and I will tell you that they fly like night and day. Both were purchased only a couple of months apart. One is like a long Fire-Chicken (can't flip it ) and the other flies like a lighter weight Orc ( s-curve ). Both are 175gr and even feel different in my hand.
